  1. A titan of optimism in this community. There aren’t a lot of posters who you can just tell are good people at their core just by the way they speak. John was one of those. But not in a judgmental or ivory tower way. He brought an every man’s determination and positivity to this community. His “hope springs eternal” spirit will be sorely missed. RIP to a great Bills fan.
  2. He's valuable depth! He's untouchable!
  3. Colts outright, IMO.
  4. So here's the thing. The Vikings got Robinson. When he walks next year in FA, he will count to the comp pick formula. It's not perfect but they will likely accrue some value back. Valuable depth is an oxymoron. We saw our "valuable" depth at LB last year. We have seen it this year. Do you think a Deion Jones-type can't give us Baylon Spector level production? These end of the roster guys are just that. They aren't valuable. If they were valuable, they would be seeing the field and playing well. Here's a list of late rounders drafted by the Bills since 2020, bolded are off the team/out of the league/not playing this season: Fromm Bass Hodgins Jackson Doyle Stevenson Hamlin Wildgoose Anderson Shakir Araiza Benford Tenuta Spector Shorter Broeker Austin SVPG Ulofoshio Solomon Grable Hardy Clayton I get it. Shakir and Benford have been excellent. They are the equivalent of striking gold. You don't want zero late round picks. But they are total crapshoots. If Dawkins went down, I would have done the Cam Robinson deal or something similar in two seconds. The value of these picks is completely overstated in the NFL, and that means the seller of those picks is going to make the profit.
  5. Yes, which is why I’d be shipping off 5ths, 6ths and 7ths all day long in the Josh Allen era for rentals. You are getting guys who have shown something at the NFL level. Even if they leave in FA immediately after, they count toward comp pick formulas and replenish those picks anyway. If there’s a decent LB out there that can be had cheaply, go get him, for example.
  6. The Bills had no idea Benford would be as good as he ended up being. They took a punter before him in the same round lol. Every team thinks their 6th round picks will be Benford or Brady. Statistically, they won't be. Its the mystery box fallacy. "Why would we trade a 6th round pick for a solid starter? A sixth round pick could be anything! It could even be a solid starter!"
  7. I believe "spaz" originated as short for "spastic" which was a descriptor for cerebral palsy. It's kinda like how "moron" was an actual medical term before it was used to describe me in gameday threads.
  8. Draft pick value inflation has gotten out of control. 17 6th round picks from 2022 are already out of the league. Not on PS. Completely gone. Of course, it only takes 2 sixths to trade for a solid starter lol.
  9. Dane isn’t as good of a player as Elam? Is that why McD and co have started Dane over Elam basically their entire careers here? 2022 snaps Dane - 829 Elam - 477 2023 snaps Dane - 463 Elam - 157 man it sure seems like the coaches don’t agree. Anywho, Jacksonville doesn’t think they are a contender. They are sellers looking for the next few years. They are 2-6 lol.
  10. Here you go. Okay. Trade Elam AND trade for Dane Jackson. I am convinced. We must stay strong at CB5.
  11. If he’s currently a total and complete bust, I really do not see the handwringing over trading him for whatever “depth” he provides or the “chance” he competes for a job in 2025. It’s far more likely he’s cut/traded in camp. It’s far more likely if he had to start this year due to injury, he’d suck. Hes not in their future plans. Hes not good. I’m sure McD and co can find some street FA to play at his level if they needed to due to dire injury. It’s not like if they traded away Elam, they wouldn’t start working out CB’s anyway. Very bizarre lines of thought here. That’s great for Elam. Hamlin has 3 picks on the year that were big plays. He’s still a terrible player, just like Elam. The Bills were up 14-0 when Elam got his pick FYI. The Steelers never got within less than 7 points that game. Hardly a game saving play.
  12. I’d be fine with that trade. What I find so interesting how vehemently some of you still believe in Kaiir. He’s a third year first round pick that can’t get on the field. I can’t remember the last time a player like that worked out. Over and over again we reference how his value is completely in the toilet I.e. no one wants him particularly much, but he’s also “very valuable” as a depth piece. confusing to say the least. I didn’t think the idea of trading a third year first round pick who does not play, does not fit our system, and has effectively been replaced/outplayed by Douglas, Benford, Dane Jackson would be so controversial. This was just supposed to be a fun thread about trades! I mean, if Cole Bishop can’t see the field 3 years from now, I’ll consider him a massive bust. And he’s only a second rounder! So yeah, I consider Elam a massive bust. I have serious doubts he makes the team next year if he’s not traded before then.
  13. I didn’t think there were any Elam guys left. We don’t even hear his name anymore. Good to know some still believe. Coleman the wide receiver?
  14. “Huge depth piece?” No draft pick or cap space ever won a Super Bowl. Good players do, every year. Good players >>>>> draft picks/cap space.
  15. Legitimately, yes. If Douglas isn’t in the long-term plans and Elam is, as you say, he would be getting SOME burn. He’s gotten basically none. When Elam was a rookie, he played the most snaps of his career. There was a real committee at CB. He was “hurt” last year and shuffled to IR after being inactive a bunch. He came back off IR and didn’t play. At all. The next year, now “healthy” he plays 26 defensive snaps over 8 games. Yeah, he’s 100% done. I don’t know who CB2 will be next year but I know it won’t be Kaiir Elam.
  16. Imo, if we lose Douglas or Benford for any period of time, we will be calling Carolina for Dane Jackson’s price. The Elam experience is clearly over in Buffalo.
  17. No he’s not lol. Do you trust Elam as CB2 come playoffs? I don’t. McDermott and co. don’t.
  18. Mack running so many routes has to drag us to the left a bit, right?
  19. I think Teller is an upgrade on OCT, personally. IMO, he's our weakest OL player by quite a bit. Good call on Zadarius Smith.
  20. Feel this has been said about Kaiir every year he has played lol. Next year is never coming. Jamarcus Ingram starts if Benford or Douglas gets hurt imo.
  21. Elam on his own is worth little, I agree. However, this is a league where former first round picks do sometimes garner more comp than they should, because of their pedigree. Toney was traded 2 games into year two for a 3rd and a 6th. Jeff Okudah was traded for a fifth after being a massive injured bust in Detroit. CJ Henderson was traded with a fifth for a third rounder. None of them particularly worked out, but you just have to find a sucker.
  22. Trade deadline day is coming. Elam sticks out like a sore thumb when it comes to dangling for trade bait. His value is shot for the most part, but he has at least a first round prospect pedigree. I can imagine there's a team or two that may gamble on his upside along with a pick. Looking at the NFL landscape, Titans, Panthers, Browns, Saints and Giants look to be potential sellers in this market. I am excluding the Jets and the Pats as they are divisional rivals and would be unlikely to make any kind of trade with us. Here are some of the players I would have interest in. Titans: Jeffrey Simmons. A true elite force on the DL. 1.5 years removed from back to back All-Pro teams. Was injured to end the year last year and the Titans are an actual disaster. I think Elam + 1st gets this done and is probably close to fair value. Browns: Myles Garrett or Wyatt Teller Garrett's resume speaks for itself. He does seem to be picking up nagging injuries every year but hey, he's still elite. I don't think Elam + 1st gets this done, probably need a second or third at least. Wyatt Teller is a good OG. He's not worth Elam and a first. Browns probably jump at that. Elam and a 4th or two though? Tough call. Panthers: There is no one on this roster worth a first. There are a few player barely worth Elam and stuff. Pass. Saints: Mathieu or Lattimore Mathieu may be worth Elam with a late round pick swap. Still a good safety but lots of tread. He has been considerably healthy. I am intrigued by this one. Lattimore is still a great CB, but he's more of a man corner. Would probably take Elam and at least a second, and we don't have a CB need/not a great system fit. Pass Giants: Darius Slayton Free Darius Slayton. For real. This guy is Darnell Mooney 2.0, a solid WR who is absolutely languishing with a bad QB. Elam and a 4th/5th gets this done I think? He is good injury insurance and pushes Mack to his more natural role of "gunner." Who do you guys got?
  23. No I was dead wrong. I can admit it. I called him Devin Funchess 2.0 and was miserable during the draft. He's clearly much more than that. The best part about hating a Bills move, is if I'm wrong and he plays great, it's still a win!
  24. I will come in to take a drubbing. I did not want Coleman pre-draft. I didn’t see the vision of him ever being a WR1 in the NFL. But he has played awesome and has wildly exceeded my expectations, especially as a rookie. I still don’t know if I buy that he is ever going to be a 15 target a game guy. Need to see more to change that opinion. But if his ceiling is great WR2/borderline WR1, we basically got another Tee Higgins at the same draft slot. And while I have questions on if those guys are worth paying, the bottom line is this team could and has used 4 years of a physical WR to great effect.
  25. He does. https://overthecap.com/player/stefon-diggs/3994 It’s how they gave him $22M GTD but he only costs them $5.8M against the cap this year. Although, I’m not sure if void years disqualify for comp picks.
