  1. He was. The story coming out of NY when they were searching for HC’s was that Mara felt the Giants had failed DJ and his development and they were not prepared to move on from him. The big push for Daboll was his history with developing Josh Allen.
  2. Waivers means you have to pay them their original salary IIRC
  3. Liked Ladd but I think this season is legitimately the peak of his abilities. Chargers #1 need this offseason remains WR. Even with QJ coming back from looking like an all time bust. Slot guys are nice. That’s what they are
  4. I wonder the difference between solid/depth guys and stars in this analysis. The Bengals 2021 draft for example has a cumulative wAV of 63 but 44 of those are from Chase/McPherson. The Bills 2021 draft has a cumulative wAV of 64 with Rousseau and Brown accumulating 59 points together. Hamlin is pulling up the bottom with 6. Is Rousseau/Brown more valuable than Chase/McPherson? Are they 15 points better, aka a solid player better?
  5. All the people clowning Jerry Jones as a GM and trying to get him to sell the team, right?
  6. You know how we used to not be mathematically eliminated from the playoffs but we always knew we were kinda eliminated already? This is like that, except backwards.
  7. Some smart guy put a tidy little sum on Josh Allen MVP and TJ Watt DPOY before the year. Some dumb guy added Caleb Williams OROY and parlayed them all.
  8. We have very few players able to run routes past the sticks. There’s zero reason for Shakir to run fades or go’s or skinny posts.
  9. Funnily enough, narrative-wise, Josh Allen being MVP hurts McD’s chances for COTY.
  10. I’m a notorious Dabs guy, but he had the best talent of the 3 so imo it’s unfair to compare them. Babich has the least talent of the rest of them so ditto as wellZ
  11. That’s why its narrative. BB should have more than the handful he does as the obvious best coach in the NFL but that’s not how it works. It’s solely narrative.
  12. COTY is all narrative. The narrative for the Bills may not have been as strong as it turns out, but taking playoff team to top 2 seed isn’t good enough.
  13. I mean, he’s well outperformed this regimes former 16th overall pick lol
  14. Watching him block air v the Bengals multiple times was the cherry on top of a brutal playoff game
  15. Not sure I agree with this. The 2023 Chiefs had their fifth best game of the year vs McD in the postseason by EP on offense. The 2022 Bengals had their third best game of the year in the postseason vs McD. the 2021 Chiefs again, also 3rd best game in the postseason. The 2020 Chiefs had their best game of the year in the AFCCG against the Bills. Really what would say is that McD molds the team and defense pretty well except in the last game of the year in the playoffs. I don’t think any of those teams were particularly undermined on offense.
  16. Dan Campbell has made the Detroit Lions better and better and better, and turned them into a championship contender. Is he a gifted football mind?
  17. It’s funny to laugh at the Jets but I actually do not like this. I wish they kept Douglas. Now they may find someone good, instead of a known mediocre quantity.
  18. I think McD is a good defensive coach. He’s a step below some of the great defensive coaches imo. i think McD’s leadership/program value to the Bills has exceeded his value as a defensive mind, personally. The defense was downright bad last year at points and rather than the team giving up at .500, they rallied and got the 2 seed. Thats where McD is special among most NFL coaches imo.
  19. It's kinda funny how the NFL is when it comes to coaches. Really all that matters is their success. Culture setters/football guys. Teams like the Bills and Lions have gotten pulled out of the mire of generational terrible culture. McD got a weird/lucky playoff berth year 1 that lent him some credence. Campbell was on the hotseat starting off 4-19-1 in his first two seasons until things clicked and they have been 29-8 since. The problem with these dudes is that their messages grow old and stale if they don't start seeing results and their results do often vary as they are more program runners vs X's and O's savants. Then there's the gifted football minds. Shanny Jr, McVay, McDaniels, Flores. They have track records of good success as playcallers or play-designers, but their results vary if they are terrible leaders. Flores and McDaniels both can coach, at a high level, but their players inevitably hate them and things go sideways. The perfect fit of culture-setter and X's and O's is really rare. Those are usually HoFers. Reid, BB, Walsh etc etc.
  20. I think the Bills may be better than the Ravens when healthy. their offensive gameplan worked great when we had Baylon Spector and Dorian out there trying to read and react. With Bernard, Milano and Taron out there, that gameplan won’t work nearly as well imo.
  21. Ravens had a perfect gameplan that worked perfectly and the rest of the chips fell their way. Got a lead early, allowing them to stick with the run. Their stunts and simulated pressures gave the OL fits all game. Bills outside WR's weren't good enough to make them pay when they put Humphrey or Hamilton on Shakir and erased him. Offensive gameplan of the Ravens to attack the LB's and safeties, our weakest positions, all game. Honestly, it was good to face them early and lose. Gave the Bills some things to plan for next time if we meet them again in the postseason. But make no mistake. We didn't lose on purpose. We were outplayed, outcoached and dominated.
  22. I have heard was that Baalke may unbelievably survive again. I thought no way, but when you hear about the owner talking about how this is the most talented team in Jags history, he may view this as a coaching failure solely. The Raiders have experienced the “curse of the interim.” when Gruden left, the players wanted to keep Bisacchia, who got them to the playoffs. Ownership disagreed and went with McDaniels. Then when that obviously failed, the players said you have to keep Pierce now. They really screwed themselves. Not sure Bisacchia would’ve been good or not, but he was the reason they kept Pierce even though they shouldn’t have.
  23. I hear that. I was maybe higher on our chances to beat KC in the postseason eventually, so I don’t feel it was all that different. We trounced them off the field in 2021. The rivalry is real and has followed a similar script the last few games. It feels like a heavyweight bout instead of a shootout and the team that makes 2-3 more plays, wins.
  24. You should read the post I quoted to start this discussion.
  25. Well that would probably be similar to the the Chiefs plan, seeing as they paid Hollywood Brown in the offseason. and the Bills may have planned to trade for a new WR all along. It also may have been their backup plan if Hollins/MVS/Samuel didn’t work out. We’ll unfortunately never know that part (although it would fly in the face of some HEATED arguments about if the WR’s were good enough week one lol) What we do know is MVS/Samuel gave Coleman a big opportunity. And the Hollywood Brown/Rice injuries gave Worthy a big opportunity. And both teams looked to give their rookies some help by the trade deadline. I guess I didn’t see the DHop trade as some major indictment of Worthy, just like I didn’t see the Cooper trade as some major indictment of Coleman.
