I'm really starting to love this WR room. We quietly got better

I don’t think WR’s that are between top 20 and top 40 are worth what they are paid on the open market. -

I agree they probably shouldn’t extend Shakir but I think they will, personally. -
Excuse me. Doug wanted them to hire HUE JACKSON. Arguably the worst HC of all time. A worse winning percentage than Jim Tomsula. It wasn’t ANY offensive coach. It was an actual “offensive” coach.

Diggs hurt (Torn ACL - out for the season)
FireChans replied to fasteddie's topic in The Stadium Wall
Personally, I think a large majority of “miracle” plays are complete defensive failures. That’s kinda what makes them miracles. -
Is the next topic going to be, “who was a better acquisition, Ryan Fitzpatrick or Josh Allen”

It’s kind of interesting because I look at this group today as a comparison of the 2020-2021 units, at least at the top. Cooper - Diggs Coleman - Davis Shakir - Beasley 2024 Cooper is probably not as good as 2020-2021 Diggs. But Davis was a WR3/4 over-elevated and I think Coleman clears him now. Shakir and Beasley may be a wash but I give the edge to Shakir. Then you add Kincaid and Cook to the mix and this entire offensive group looks not half bad. Just looking at EPA/play, this is the best offense we have had since 2020. -
There’s no reason to be nasty. Any argument to trade Edwards is an argument to trade Elam. Any argument to keep Edwards is an argument to keep Elam. You know this is true. Super awesome “valuable” depth is literally anything but.
-
Who knows? Maybe! He wouldn’t be the first DB on our team to spend a large majority of their time with us inactive/not playing but be in our plans the next year.
-
Mike Edwards is untradeable, imo. He provides very important depth and he may be in their future plans in 2025.

Brady under fire for calling Josh a "spaz" on Sunday's broadcast...

Shout out to @GunnerBill out here facing the slings and arrows for the crime of providing some multicultural context. -
A titan of optimism in this community. There aren’t a lot of posters who you can just tell are good people at their core just by the way they speak. John was one of those. But not in a judgmental or ivory tower way. He brought an every man’s determination and positivity to this community. His “hope springs eternal” spirit will be sorely missed. RIP to a great Bills fan.

He's valuable depth! He's untouchable!

Colts outright, IMO.

Jags trade LT Robinson to Vikings
FireChans replied to Ethan in Cleveland's topic in The Stadium Wall
So here's the thing. The Vikings got Robinson. When he walks next year in FA, he will count to the comp pick formula. It's not perfect but they will likely accrue some value back. Valuable depth is an oxymoron. We saw our "valuable" depth at LB last year. We have seen it this year. Do you think a Deion Jones-type can't give us Baylon Spector level production? These end of the roster guys are just that. They aren't valuable. If they were valuable, they would be seeing the field and playing well. Here's a list of late rounders drafted by the Bills since 2020, bolded are off the team/out of the league/not playing this season: Fromm Bass Hodgins Jackson Doyle Stevenson Hamlin Wildgoose Anderson Shakir Araiza Benford Tenuta Spector Shorter Broeker Austin SVPG Ulofoshio Solomon Grable Hardy Clayton I get it. Shakir and Benford have been excellent. They are the equivalent of striking gold. You don't want zero late round picks. But they are total crapshoots. If Dawkins went down, I would have done the Cam Robinson deal or something similar in two seconds. The value of these picks is completely overstated in the NFL, and that means the seller of those picks is going to make the profit. -

Yes, which is why I’d be shipping off 5ths, 6ths and 7ths all day long in the Josh Allen era for rentals. You are getting guys who have shown something at the NFL level. Even if they leave in FA immediately after, they count toward comp pick formulas and replenish those picks anyway. If there’s a decent LB out there that can be had cheaply, go get him, for example. -
Jags trade LT Robinson to Vikings
FireChans replied to Ethan in Cleveland's topic in The Stadium Wall
The Bills had no idea Benford would be as good as he ended up being. They took a punter before him in the same round lol. Every team thinks their 6th round picks will be Benford or Brady. Statistically, they won't be. Its the mystery box fallacy. "Why would we trade a 6th round pick for a solid starter? A sixth round pick could be anything! It could even be a solid starter!" -

FireChans replied to eball's topic in The Stadium Wall
I believe "spaz" originated as short for "spastic" which was a descriptor for cerebral palsy. It's kinda like how "moron" was an actual medical term before it was used to describe me in gameday threads.- 259 replies

Draft pick value inflation has gotten out of control. 17 6th round picks from 2022 are already out of the league. Not on PS. Completely gone. Of course, it only takes 2 sixths to trade for a solid starter lol. -
What does Elam and a pick get you in this market?
FireChans replied to FireChans's topic in The Stadium Wall
Dane isn’t as good of a player as Elam? Is that why McD and co have started Dane over Elam basically their entire careers here? 2022 snaps Dane - 829 Elam - 477 2023 snaps Dane - 463 Elam - 157 man it sure seems like the coaches don’t agree. Anywho, Jacksonville doesn’t think they are a contender. They are sellers looking for the next few years. They are 2-6 lol. -

Here you go. Okay. Trade Elam AND trade for Dane Jackson. I am convinced. We must stay strong at CB5. -

If he’s currently a total and complete bust, I really do not see the handwringing over trading him for whatever “depth” he provides or the “chance” he competes for a job in 2025. It’s far more likely he’s cut/traded in camp. It’s far more likely if he had to start this year due to injury, he’d suck. Hes not in their future plans. Hes not good. I’m sure McD and co can find some street FA to play at his level if they needed to due to dire injury. It’s not like if they traded away Elam, they wouldn’t start working out CB’s anyway. Very bizarre lines of thought here. That’s great for Elam. Hamlin has 3 picks on the year that were big plays. He’s still a terrible player, just like Elam. The Bills were up 14-0 when Elam got his pick FYI. The Steelers never got within less than 7 points that game. Hardly a game saving play. -

I’d be fine with that trade. What I find so interesting how vehemently some of you still believe in Kaiir. He’s a third year first round pick that can’t get on the field. I can’t remember the last time a player like that worked out. Over and over again we reference how his value is completely in the toilet I.e. no one wants him particularly much, but he’s also “very valuable” as a depth piece. confusing to say the least. I didn’t think the idea of trading a third year first round pick who does not play, does not fit our system, and has effectively been replaced/outplayed by Douglas, Benford, Dane Jackson would be so controversial. This was just supposed to be a fun thread about trades! I mean, if Cole Bishop can’t see the field 3 years from now, I’ll consider him a massive bust. And he’s only a second rounder! So yeah, I consider Elam a massive bust. I have serious doubts he makes the team next year if he’s not traded before then. -

I didn’t think there were any Elam guys left. We don’t even hear his name anymore. Good to know some still believe. Coleman the wide receiver? -

“Huge depth piece?” No draft pick or cap space ever won a Super Bowl. Good players do, every year. Good players >>>>> draft picks/cap space. -

FireChans replied to FireChans's topic in The Stadium Wall
Legitimately, yes. If Douglas isn’t in the long-term plans and Elam is, as you say, he would be getting SOME burn. He’s gotten basically none. When Elam was a rookie, he played the most snaps of his career. There was a real committee at CB. He was “hurt” last year and shuffled to IR after being inactive a bunch. He came back off IR and didn’t play. At all. The next year, now “healthy” he plays 26 defensive snaps over 8 games. Yeah, he’s 100% done. I don’t know who CB2 will be next year but I know it won’t be Kaiir Elam.
