  1. I’m not saying they have been bad. I’m saying that maxing out at “quality starters” is probably partly the reason we have played in one conference championship in Josh’s career. The proof is really in the pudding. We have a top 2 at least QB. We find quality starters and role players every year. We have played in one conference championship. At what point do you stop shuffling the “good players that aren’t good enough to pay top money to” deck chairs before you start star chasing? We have all these guys with “potential to be top 10.” “Looking like another quality starting potentially.” How many of them will be Bills 3 years from now? 50%? Less? The reality of the NFL is that you need franchise cornerstones. QB. Pass rusher. LT. Pass catcher. CB. Everyone else is more or less interchangeable. “Solid depth” in guys like Hamlin do not move the needle. “Potential to be a starter” guys like Williams do not move the needle. Rotational backups do not move the needle. When you don’t build around stars in star positions, you end up with a good team that is not quite good enough. And that’s the motto of the last 5 years of Buffalo Bills football. Who do we think is more likely to step up in the playoffs and make game changing plays? All of our solid rotational depth defenders or Chris Jones? The answer is obvious. I think we need to pump the brakes on OCT personally. Two months ago he was a complete liability on the line. I’m not calling him potentially top 5 OG anytime soon.
  2. Given how good the Bills are at drafting? Man we just have very different opinions on the strengths of this regime. They are very good at finding role players. They do not hit on stars. Josh is their only one on the roster drafted by Beane. They can still do that without first round picks (in fact that’s where we are the best at it) your list is full of teams getting appreciably better 2/3 times. Of course, there are some duds. There are no guarantees with the draft either. Trading 2 firsts and losing in the Super Bowl would be the greatest year of Josh’s career thus far.
  3. I honestly think you can. Draft capital is completely overrated. The Rams have had 1 first round pick since 2017. They have had the 7th best record in the NFL during that span, have had multiple playoff appearances, been to two SB’s and won 1. I don’t know where you see the massive trades working out only for the team getting picks. The Rams won a Super Bowl with an “eff them picks” mentality. Listen, if the Bills had a SB ring or two at this point, I wouldn’t care if they wanted to build sustainably through the draft. The Chiefs in 2022 did that, they tried to take a step back on talent because they were playing with found money at that point. We aren’t in that same situation. We are rapidly approaching Josh’s 30s and our biggest game was getting blown out in the conference championship once. We don’t have time for another pick #30 to take 3-4 years to figure out if they are worth $25M. We really don’t.
  4. I have to really question the logic behind saying a number 1 pick and then paying a Rousseau $25M AAV is not using a lot of draft or cap capital, but trading at least a #1 and other picks for Garrett making $30M AAV is some huge risk. The Bills haven’t had an elite pass rusher since Mario. We have spent multiple draft picks trying to get one. We gave Von Miller $20M a year to get one. What is the difference between the picks for Rousseau, Boogie, AJE and the contracts for Von and likely Rousseau vs both of those things used for an actual superstar HoF pass rusher in Garrett? Elite pass rushers are the closest thing to panaceas on defense btw. They make everyone better. That’s why they are the second highest paid position. There is honestly no more impactful player in the NFL that the Bills could trade for.
  5. He wasn’t fired for only winning 4 games. I keep trying to tell you. He was fired because his HC career was basically a disaster from the jump. He was the golden boy they groomed for succession, and by like the first quarter of the season, the Pats had serious doubts about his ability to be an HC. That’s why the rumors were flying around that he could be fired BACK THEN. It wasn’t winning this game or not that game.
  6. The rumors were that Mayo was on the hot seat in like week 4. It wasn’t because of win total.
  7. I don’t think he got fired for not winning enough game.
  8. Benford isn’t Myles Garrett. The time for waiting for guys to develop around Josh has come and gone. We are in “if not now, when?” time.
  9. The Rams added a 32 year old Von Miller who had 9 sacks in 12 games (4 in the playoffs) by trading for him and not needing to pay him big money. Beane got outbid on that front.
  10. Didn’t we turn it over at least 3 times in Denver? Maybe 4? do we think Dorsey’s ***** “everyone run comeback routes offense” was a contributor of that?
  11. It’s just good business imo. Dawkins is a threat to fall apart at his age. Going into 2025 or 26 with both bookends shaky is a mistake. Then you end up like the Chiefs who have had terrible OT play for 2 seasons despite throwing money and picks desperately trying to fix it asap. (I realize they are threatened to 3peat but their OT’s are still their worst part of their roster)
  12. Who will get Stefanski’s coffee next season? Remember the over/under thread on how many HC job interviews he gets last year? Lmao
  13. You are absolutely gonna get flamed but you are right, Lamar has a really good case because his year has been insane. It doesn’t matter though. Purdy had an incredible statistical season last year and wasn’t close. And Lamar won’t get 3 MVPs before he’s made a Super Bowl. The money is rightly on Josh.
  14. lol I think Myles Garrett is ABSOLUTELY than Miller, Milano, Douglas, Daquan and Bass. And he may cost us the next Elam or Boogie Basham or Cody Ford??? Perish the thought.
  15. Hey now, that first round pick could be anything. It could even be Myles Garrett!
  16. I have saved this post if the Bengals do get in, and Burrow starts off 14/14.
  17. Trestman called the plays IIRC. No to first time playcallers.
  18. As I said at the time of the extension, I was fine with Brown getting paid as long as they thought he had LT potential. not that I necessarily want him over there either but if Dion departs and we have nothing over there, having Brown over a guy who has no business playing LT is about as good of a succession plan as you can get. The Eagles did that with Peters and Lane Johnson. They gave Johnson big money in part to wait and see what happened with the LT spot. They got lucky that Mailata hit, but they had a backup plan.
  19. If you could get Garrett for our first and a fourth, you would be stupid to not do it. Legitimately. He’s not just a starting DE, he’s a superstar EDGE and he also isn’t in a contract year. If he does ever get moved, it will be closer to the Mack package (2 1sts, a 3rd and a 6th for Mack, a 2nd and a 7th), than a Montez Sweat package (2nd round pick).
  20. 60 year old retreads are at an all time low around the league. 10 years ago, Spags would have gotten a shot again. The days of bums like Fisher or Mularkey getting their ninth shot are over.
  21. I’d like to trade for Justin Jefferson and Jordan Addison, but I’m thinking I wouldn’t go higher than a 4th.
  22. If you want continuity, you hire a guy who has failed at HC already. Thats how the Chiefs kept Spags. That’s how the Pats kept McDaniels.
  23. It would start at two 1’s probably.
