Because your definitions of "solid" and "top-tier" is not based on the reality of the NFL. Do we think this team is riddled with All-Pros that all got snubbed? Of course not. You are correct in one regard. Half the people convincing themselves that Allen is "doing more with less" were also praising the Bills for building a super talented team. It's a total contradiction

It kinda is, right? They drew KC round 1 last year. They lost with a massive QB disadvantage. 2 years ago they drew the Bills round 1. They lost with a massive QB disadvantage and a backup QB starting to boot. Tua has as many wins against Mahomes in the playoffs as Josh does.

There was a point in Buffalo’s history where 3 straight playoff appearances would’ve gotten you the key to the city. I do think it’s kinda funny to think about the dichotomy that Miami is such a failure because they can’t beat Mahomes with Tua or Josh Allen with Skylar Thompson, meanwhile we can’t get out of the divisional round with Josh.

That was my prediction earlier. The Bills taught them that. Their defense was quite bad early in the season until they put Humphrey on Shakir. He went back to outside and they were bad again.

It's proof positive that "winning in the trenches" is another one of those things that's nice to have, but close to irrelevant compared to not having the QB. It's window dressing. The value of the elite QB (which the Dolphins don't have and never will as long as Tua is under center) is why they will not be a contender. The Bills have been a contender the entire time Josh has been elite. It doesn't matter if our DL sucks or our OL sucks.We are still contenders, every year. If Josh was on a team like the Dolphins, who you say can't win in the trenches, they would be contenders, every year.

Meh, I think the build with the trenches thing goes too far. Their defense got actually quite a bit better this season. The big problem is really that Tua has a low ceiling and a low floor, that he needs to be propped up to be just a good QB, and that kind of QB unfortunately doesn’t get your far at building out the rest of a roster. Put it another way, as much as we consider ourselves a far more physical team than Miami, if Tua was our QB for 17 games this season, I think we have a similar record to the Dolphins if not worse. If Josh was the Dolphins QB, i think they are still the 2 seed and run away with the division. Brock Purdy is Tua West for a reason. A physically limited, nice kid who needs to be surrounded by talent to produce in a Shanny system. And when that talent suffers a set back, they turn back into pumpkins. And paying all that talent limits your upside everywhere else on the roster.

The exact place he is the worst fit for him. If BB or the org are serious about winning, you don’t hire him to a team that needs a full reset everywhere including QB. I think BB on the Bears is a better fit and I think that’s not even that good of a fit.

I think if we had Evans and drafted Mahomes in 2017, we may have 4 SB’s. I love Josh and he’s been better than Mahomes lately, but denying Mahomes the Reid/Hill/Kelce triumvirate probably changes everything. Andy probably gets fired from KC after choking with Smith again.

It’s kind of funny that of the first 17 picks, the only ones not to make a Pro Bowl were drafted by the Rams, Jags, Bills and Browns.

The Pierce era is a good example about how bad teams stay bad. Gruden leaves. Bisacchia as interim leads the team to the postseason. The players clamor to keep Bisacchia. Ownership decides the horrific leader of men McDaniels is better. They trade for Adams who they pay big money too because he wants to play with Carr. McDaniels cuts Carr, pays a washed Jimmy G. McDaniels is obviously fired. Pierce takes over as interim. Players clamor for Pierce and they are already pretty pissed after what happened previous. Fearing player revolt, Raiders hire a guy they honestly probably didn’t want to. They proceed to fire him when he’s predictably bad because they have no faith in him. Compounding mistakes. Brutal to watch.

I was just thinking how crazy it would be for a first round LSU WR to put up top 4 receiving yards in their rookie year and end up being a superstar. It’s only happened twice in the last 4 years.

You have to consider the context. Zay Flowers was only on a roster that passed for 4172 yards this season which is why his numbers were good, but not great. BTJ was on a roster that passed for 3700 yards total, which is why his numbers were so good but he wasn’t great.

Mac Jones played almost half the season. He had 22 less attempts than Lawrence did on the season The Bills passed the ball 26 times less than the Jags did on the year. ?????

BTJ has done just fine going from Lawrence to Mac Jones FWIW.

The Giants would still be bad with Saquon Barkley lol Bills fans who watched guys like Marshawn Lynch carry this team to 6 wins and mathematically eliminated in November somehow don't understand this. Joe Burrow has gotten a lot of mileage out of that one good day by his DC too.
