Championships last forever though. what is the concern here? We hire an HC that cuts Josh? That even if a new HC wins a championship, he still might get fired one day?

Dorsey was a bad OC. I think I can name one play that he actually won with scheme in his entire tenure. The fake QB sweep jump ball to Davis in the 2022 opener against LA. Brady has had a dozen or so this season alone.

This has been my take as well. WR prospects have never been more talented as they are currently, and their delta between FA dollars and rookie contract dollars is approaching 2nd in the league. I have finally formulated my take that if you have a QB making franchise QB money, you never pay a WR unless he is like a top 5 guy in his prime. It’s just bad business. Let the Tee Higgins of the world go get $30M from the Pats or the Broncos.

Nothing is etched in stone. Shakir could blow out his knee and we could get pennies on the dollar. I do think Beane is very much thinking about whether to extend him or not this spring and at what price point. That’s kind of the GM’s job to think about these things before they materialize. Which is why I think he will be extended this spring. Not really sure why you have such an issue with that take? Honestly the Bengals have it worse because their owner has no money, but there’s also an aspect of “knowing” you have a $35M contract pending hamstringing you from making shorter term improvements. Jamar Chase is elite and imo worth every penny. But if his extension wasn’t on the horizon, the Bengals as a roster doesn’t fall off like they did in 2024 imo

Waiting has its own challenges. I think it would be smarter to wait. Smarter still to run away at $19M+. I still think he will be extended in the spring.

Um, Beane usually negotiates extensions with a year left under contract. I would bet that Khalil gets extended this spring unless his asking price is insane.

He’s also not worth $20M+ AAV imo.

This is a great point. @dave mcbride should Drew Lock have thrown a couple more picks instead of balling out? He's getting paid a lot of money and it would be better for his organization for him to suck and lose more. Sure, he's almost certainly not going to be a Giant next year, but it was selfish of him to play well, right?

I think you’re misunderstanding, I know teams tank. i know it’s probably smart for the Giants to tank at this point. What I find very odd is you expect an employee of a company to make himself look worse to future employers right before he gets fired for the sole benefit of the company who is gonna fire him. Would you be picking up extra shifts to benefit your company if you were getting fired in 2 weeks? Of course not. That’s not selfish. That’s self-interest. If the Giants wanted Dabs to tank, they should have empowered him to do so.

If Daboll is going to get fired, there is zero reason for him to lose games purposefully. It will only harm him get jobs in the future to completely bottom out. So yeah, it’s extremely intelligent to not tank if you won’t see the objective interest lol

you don’t think tanking has been happening for years? furthermore, do you think the NFL has any interest in proving it? All you do is tell the coach, “don’t worry so much about wins and losses, this is a development year, play the young kids, your job is safe,” and the message will be received.

Spending a second rounder on a safety is already bad but desperately needing safety help right away, I can grin and bear it. That safety being nowhere close is just brutal.
