Actually during the building of the Cowboys including the first 2 Super Bowls Jimmy Johnson has all decision making powers (draft, contracts, etc.) Jerry as GM had one .. and that was with the personnel Jimmy Johnson had brought to Dallas. https://www.cbssports.com/nfl/news/jimmy-johnson-calls-out-jerry-jones-on-gm-claims-during-super-bowl-runs/

Would we sell out a home playoff game?
CorkScrewHill replied to Bakin's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
As someone else stated the only early 90s playoff game that did not sell out was the Oilers .. and how is this a certainty .. because we watched all the others on TV .. when they used to have 100% of seats sold to televise. If we get a game at home this year (unlikely) it will sell out and it will be jam packed -

Would we sell out a home playoff game?
CorkScrewHill replied to Bakin's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
1) we had just been pummeled by Houston the week before; and more importantly 2) your facts are wrong .. that was the highest attended game in the history of the stadium ... 900,000 people have stated they were at that game -
I get he will be named MVP .. and he is having the best year of the 2018 QBs ... but recently he is getting the 1 yd TD passes but little in the way of yardage .. he has 109 yds running and throwing at half and he will be lauded for an amazing performance. It is almost laughable how in love the media is with him. Again he has done well, but I just don’t see him as the MVP

THE ROCKPILE REVIEW - Not There Yet
CorkScrewHill replied to Shaw66's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Really nice review of the game by Chris Simms .. he is very balanced and was very insightful. Note 20 minutes long. -
How is that “off your rocker” .. and why the rudeness with the sit down and shut up. It was a legitimate request which should be answered with civility with a yes or a no .. I am fine either way but it would in my opinion be useful information.. if you don’t agree that is fine but there was no need for the response you provided at all.

An uncomfortable play-off situation with the Texans
CorkScrewHill replied to Stallions's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Correct on tennessee and texans both at 10 - 6 goes to the Texans for the Division ... and then even in a 3 way split .. the only other team that could tie Buffalo and Tennessee would be Pittsburg. Since both Pittsburgh and Buffalo beat Tennesseee .. Tenesee would be on the outside. -
A) He is really stupid as there are a very small handful of people who carry these doo-hickeys called cell phones that also function as cameras ; or B) He I making a big-brain play to get out of NY I am thinking B.. because nobody is stupid enough for A .. and $35 million of the 52 million 4 yr contract is guaranteed

It was a bad game ... but if anyone thought his progress would be straight up .. you were kidding yourself. The goal is year over year improvement not week to week. All QBs have duds .. here is a stat line you might recall "14–28 for 123 yards, no TDs and 4 interceptions (including a pick six) prior to being pulled in the 4th quarter. QB rating of 22.5" What scrub was this???? Thomas Brady vs Buffalo in 2003. It sucks .. I had visions of the top playoff spot dancing in my head .. but considering I picked the Bills to be 8-8 this year .. I am pleased with where the team is and where Josh is. Next year I will be looking for even more. Go Bills! 2020 season Super Bowl contenders.

Really interesting article from the Baltimore Sun where their sports writers answer such questions as whether the Ravens should be concerned about their difficulties containing the run given the Bills running back and whether JA is the 2nd best QB from the 2018 class. Very insightful IMHO. https://www.pressreader.com/usa/baltimore-sun/20191207/281792810901980

"Thankfully Beans cleared money and gave him a real offense, but JA hung in there like few often do." - This is an important point Beane and McDermott were never looking to build a team that would compete for a year .. they are looking to build a team that is always competitive, year after year. That meant carrying lots of dead money as we cut people with bloated contracts. This year they used the space to find people who fit at the right price .. some have been home runs and some have been strike-outs but none put them in cap jail (e.g., Laveon Bell with the Jets). The team has a lot of money to spend next year .. so the team is not prevented from finding the next few guys who fit at the right price and will make the team even more competitive next year.

Jets dysfunction makes 2 games a year easier to win as the Bills continue to improve. I am pretty confidant that Bill Belichick has been very interested in the dysfunction of the Bills since he got to New England and has used it to his advantage. It would be wonderful to be on the other end of that with teams going forward.
