I don’t think there is one to be real. They want to control the ball, milk the clock, which is completely opposite of what you SHOULD do with a 1st ballot HOF QB. They limit his number of opportunities to be great, which in some cases, can be good.. BUT…. They played with fire by not getting anyone who could stretch the field. I questioned it all off season, what’s to stop the D from clogging the middle, taking away the TEs, Shakir and making it harder to run. The only answer is short routes to the RBs in the flats and Allen making insane plays on the run where the deep spots come open. Now, when it comes down to moving the ball WHEN YOU HAVE TO, the struggle is real. It’s 100% on Allen to create something. Somehow, they wanted to lessen the burden on Allen and if you see it as taking away the number of time he throws, they have. BUT, they also took away any opportunity for him to easily move the ball when they need to. Yes, it’s called hyperbole. How about this, the combined win percentage of the teams is below .500 I think the question is, are they maximizing the talent? They have completely taken the ball out of the hands of 1st round pick Kincaid, high paid TE Knox, biggest FA acquisition Samuel, and have barely involved 1st pick this year in Keon and the new pro bowl WR Cooper. The only guys getting “maximized” are the RBs.

Yes, but the teams beaten have about 8 wins total. This is where stats don’t tell the whole story. The only contenders they played have beaten them and the offense was ATROCIOUS in both games. Let’s be really honest, the Colts game was way too close and that was with 5 turnovers, one going for a TD. Remember the 10-0 Steelers that collapsed like a house of cards? Yeah, that’s what happens when your schedule is soft as a teddy early in the year. This team hasn’t beaten anyone that’s a legitimate contender and got curb stomped by the Ravens and didn’t do much better against the Texans. Hopefully that’s behind us, but let’s be honest, this team’s record is just as fluffed up as KC’s.

There was a time, but that time has passed. It also doesn’t help that Kincaid came in an immediately had a good season, now has disappeared. I don’t know exactly what the deal is, but SOMETHING is wrong in the big picture here. Since Brady took over, the most talented guys on offense have all had their roles diminished, to the point of lunacy. “Everybody eats” is all well and good, but when you have to have it, you have big dogs and they don’t get the ball. Kincaid is on pace for less catches, yards and TDs than his rookie year, Knox is all but invisible, Diggs fell off a cliff, now Samuel can’t find anything after being a 1000 yard guy, Shakir is performing, but it’s all YAC and he’s still going to struggle to break 1000, Coleman and Cooper have been merely situational guys thus far. Before anybody gets on the last sentence and goes off the deep end, I know Coop hasn’t been here long, but not being able to get a guy that’s been around that long more than 3 looks a game is silly. I think the scheme is pretty sad honestly. The RBs have something, but JA’s effectiveness is down as are all the skill positions. I just don’t see it. They have been mauled by real competition thus far, this week will be really telling.

That would be the wise play. Clinch the division, and then start resting guys. Health is going to determine if there is a shot in hell of making it deep into the playoffs. At the very least, I’d like to see the starters have the last week off, honestly wouldn’t mind seeing them sit for the second half of the week before the last game.

I hope it’s the reason they have to go for it on 4th down, late in the game and Mahomes gets blown up, losing the game.

Potential Christian Benford Extension Framework
DCofNC replied to JGMcD2's topic in The Stadium Wall
Umm no, take a look at Josh Norman. McD is making these guys look great, his system, as much as I don’t love it, is AMAZING at hiding DB flaws and making them look great. What has Tre White been since he left? How great was Douglas before he came? How is it working out for Wallace? Benford is good, he’s not the prodigy you guys want to make it seem he is. Paying him is less stupid than Oliver, but not by a lot. -

Benford is the only one I would consider a priority at all. Love all of them, but you have to be real on what a team can pay. Benford plays a premium position, but also McD makes diamonds from coal all the time, so personally, I’m not breaking the bank on him. Bernard is a walking injury, he’s a baller, but availability trumps talent here. Shakir is my favorite player outside of JA, but you are looking at 20M for a sub 1000 yard guy, that’s a hard pass. Cook is a RB, a good one at that, but never pay one unless it’s an absolute freak like Henry or Barkley (and even he’s a question bc of injury), so Cook will be walking. -

We’ll agree to disagree, he’s very good, but he’s not an elite athlete. McD routinely takes late round corners and makes them look great, I’m not paying a guy 20M per, when his replacement will be next to free for 4 years. -

He’s got size, the rest is average to poor, he is a heck of a player, so it’s not impacting him too much. The fact of the matter is he’s slow, it’s ok in a zone scheme, because you should have people over the top. I would t pay him big money because he’s not a one on one lock down corner and athletes like him are available late in the draft all the time. I love the guy, but I wouldn’t drop big money on him. McD has coached up a ton of guys who have played well, left (here and Carolina) and haven’t been a shadow of themselves. For that reason, I’m moving him if I can get good return. -

These two post summarize the situation. He’s good, not athletically gifted and can get cooked. I would try to trade him or take your comp pick because he’s going to get paid and I personally don’t think it’s worth it. McD makes nobody corners into “stars” and they ALL struggle without him. -
My wife said it the minute it happened, “that’s going to be on Angry Runs!” I figured she was right, wasn’t sure he’d win it, but that was a nice run.

Are The Bears Wrecking Caleb Williams?
DCofNC replied to ExiledInIllinois's topic in The Stadium Wall
I would never have picked the kid, he looked like a head case from the get go, now things aren’t going well and he’s melting. I know he has raw talent and all, but what in the world was all the hype for? He never really dominated in college, he shrunk on the big stage and didn’t play within the offense, he thrived making ***** up. Jayden Daniels was the exact opposite, the only question on him was really durability and look at him. He plays within the scheme, CAN run and is accurate, what more did they want in a QB? I’m happy for Daniels to not be a bear and not even a little surprised the hype has turned sour on Chicago. -
Expected to miss 3 catches and 28 yards on Sunday.

Thought we were posting shirtless picks, maybe next time.

It didn’t seem that way, it was that way and Carter honestly hasn’t been great, he just showed up where he’s supposed to. Sorry not sorry, Oliver is who we thought he was. Shouldn’t have been the pick and shouldn’t have been rewarded for being mediocre. Without somebody dominating next to him, he’s a nobody.

Von Miller Samuel Jones Knox Bass arguments to be made for: Oliver - unless you need a magician, who’s great at disappearing. Milano (based on availability) Brown - teaming with Schnoman for the most penalized tackles in the NFL Diggs - paying him to not be here, doubly bad bc he beat you, then bowed out on the season before helping them beat other teams we needed beat. Bonus points to 1st round picks who aren’t living up to their draft slots in Elam, Kincaid (sorry he’s not even on pace to match his rookie year and 3 catches a game is not worth a 1st), and again our Magic man, Eddy O.

Im with you, he was so bad he was in the right spot for the fumble recovery, pure luck. I’m going to lose it if Edwards goes and plays well somewhere else this year.

Seahawks release Tyrel Dodson - UPDATE claimed by Dolphins
DCofNC replied to Big Blitz's topic in The Stadium Wall
Something seems off here. He’s been ok and is relatively cheap even as a backup, unless it’s a locker room issue or he’s got off field crap going, this is odd. I would GUESS he clears waivers, he’s not a major difference maker, but he’d be welcome back here with all the injuries. -
Exactly, nothing was open, all day. The only big play was a busted play where JA found a chance to fling it to an empty zone on the run. The O sucked all day aside from a handful of great individual efforts. The scheme was not working. It was also not helpful that JA has been consistently coming up short on his throws the last 2 weeks. Not sure what that’s about, but something is slightly off, be it fundamentals or injury.

it’s all about cap space. You’re telling me, you’d rather have this group of WRs, plus Jefferson for 8.5M cap hit this year and 15.3 next year? Give me a break. Basically, Jefferson is taking the same space as Samuel. You’re back peddling because you don’t know the cap implications and you are dead wrong. Having a great WR like him would open up so much. Not only that, it would buy back your 3rd round pick from next year that’s burned on Cooper.
-
KC’s luck will run out, just a question of when. They aren’t a dominant team, they are just getting a lot of good breaks and timely mistakes by opponents. I still think they are the favorites to win it all, but I’d bet they lose one if not 2 or 3 before the playoffs. I’m up in the air if I want the Bills to beat them or not, it’s great, but if we are locked in to a lower guaranteed seed and rest some guys going into the playoffs, I see that as better than fighting to the bitter end of the year with #1 seed delusion.

Actually, Jefferson’s Cap hit this year is 8.5M this year and 15.3 next year and we are eating Diggs at 31M soooo… you’re clueless. Not only that, when he DOES move up in value it’s 39M and 42M, not that you ever let it get to that, bc you resign him, but worst case scenario, you have the best WR in football for what you are paying Diggs and any competent version of his replacement. So how ya feel about your statement now?
