#11 on NFL Top 100: Stefon Diggs!

Well, I qualified that with being “productive” which none of the freaks are, outside of Metcalf, but he hasn’t reached the level of Diggs etc. -
#11 on NFL Top 100: Stefon Diggs!

I’m surprised he’s that high, good for him. With the lack of truly elite physical specimens left at WR anymore, his skills are getting more recognition, very good to see. Guys like Diggs, Adam’s, Hop, Thomas are all getting it done without the crazy, elite, physical talent. They are all at NFL standards, but not 6’4”, running a 4.3. Julio is always hurt, the only real productive speed/size guy is Metcalf. -
Yes and no, there are things that you can know are coming and still not stop.. a dude that punches you before you can get your base is hard to deal with, knowing it’s coming or not. Does he need more? Yeah, for sure. Will he be able to have success without it, yeah. Plenty of guys have been good with nothing more than a bull rush. For this season, I don’t think you will see a lot more than that.

I think McKenzie takes the “scat back” type of role, he’s just as fast and more versatile, already has value as a WR and returner, he’s not going to take traditional runs, but I don’t see Breida doing it either. Use him like Tyreek Hill and forget about a one dimensional back.

Around the League Preseason Games Thread
DCofNC replied to LeGOATski's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Wilson looked good against back ups, while playing with starters, he’s exceeded my expectations already. For real though, he looks pretty good, definitely can sling it, hopefully he’s not JA 2.0 lol. -
Text book hit, bad penalty

Mitch is far and away the best backup in the league, played a nice game. I don’t see how you can let Zimmer get away, guy is fun to watch. Boogie looked destined to IR. He’s just not as good as any of the others yet. Otherwise O’bada looks like a cut. McKenzie, get this guy on the field, he was killing it out there.

I was an usher through college, got to know the security guys by name, there were some sincere bad asses in that crew. They took no crap and ALWAYS ended the fight. The section I had was about 50% season ticket holders and 50% crazies. Never had to worry about the season ticket holders, they were well behaved. You never knew what was going to happen behind them though. That was a lot of fun, with a lot of good people and as a bonus, I got paid to be in the stadium on game days. With all the Covid concerns and the general craziness from people being restricted for so long, I’d be tempted to let them “ work it out themselves “ more now than ever.

Remember (maybe you aren’t this old), the season where Jarious Byrd could not be in the wrong place? He had the ball fall in his lap the minute he walked on the field. It won the Bills a lot of games by way of “stopping” drives where it was just a random tip that practically got stuck in his face mask. It happens that teams get a lucky streak, heck a lucky season. The Falcons that year played in a WEAK division and got a lot of bounces, the next year they got slapped around like they did in the playoffs when they ran into a real team. The Chiefs have dominated almost every team they have played in the last 2 years and whooped the Bills handedly. This is not a team that’s gotten by on beating up on garbage teams. They have had some off days, every team does, but to look at them and regard them as anything less than the best team in the AFC and arguably the best team in the NFL is just silly. The Bucs did get hot at the right time and they did catch some major breaks (like virtually the entire Chiefs starting OL being out), and they did win, so if you want to say they are the team to beat until proven otherwise, fine. There’s still no reasonable argument the Chiefs aren’t the second best team or better.

Traveling to game/Airport Question
DCofNC replied to TFBillsfan's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
It’s doable, no question asked. You HAVE to park right though. Find a private lot, make sure your turn out of it will be with the flow of traffic to get where you want to go. You can bob and weave a little around the back roads and make it to 90 pretty easily, especially if you go a little further west, which seems counter intuitive, but the exit directly back to the East is always a ***** show. if you stay for the whole game and park in a stadium lot, you are asking for it. Although I have had pretty good success with the lot on the visitor side of the stadium, I can’t recall the road name right off the top of my head, you can get down near the exits to the road and escape that way pretty well, it’s a lot longer walk in vs virtually any other stadium lot, but if you move your butt on the way out, it generally gets you out pretty quick. Fir real reference, I used to be an Usher at the stadium during my college years, we had to wait for the section to clear, go hand in our stuff and check out, walk to the car etc. I found that if you took your time, it was about 45mins after the game that I would hit the car, a quick listen to the traffic report and I’d be out of there pretty easily, a lot of times I’d head up to the 190 and connect back to 90, it made it easier. The only real thorn in your side is weather, when it snows it sucks. Great advice -

Yeah, but it sounds like Dion is suffering pretty hard from it too, which is probably the “hitting those that it needs to hit” that he’s speaking of. I feel for him, it’s not fun. In context to the team, it may not be life threatening for 99.999999% of NFL athletes, but it sure can jack up your season. If anybody is on the fence about the vax, I’m sure Dion’s condition will be used an example to push them to get it. NFL careers are short, flirting with fire is probably not worth it. Guys will have weigh the options and decide what is right for them. I just hope everyone stays healthy and is able to perform at their best, for themselves and the team’s sake. -

It would make a lot of sense for him to take the LT position and move on from Dion, hopefully for decent compensation, before you have to pay him again. With Josh’s new deal, and the inevitable re work of Diggs, possibly Edmunds etc, money will get tight pretty quick for improvements to the roster in the coming years. -

Hey, thank you, I am good at this point. Sorry to hear about your mom, that sounds really tough. Hopefully, we are all just over thinking and Dion is simply behind because of the time missed. One thing I have really learned out of this whole pandemic situation; don’t make assumptions of what others are going through and appreciate your own good fortune. Keeping that in perspective, helps keep life tolerable. It really is a big opening for him, but I really doubt he’s ready to step in yet. He has never faced anything like NFL competition and was raw at best coming out. It would be great if he could legitimately plug the hole and even better if he could honestly “take” the job from Dion. It would allow them to kick Dion in to play guard this year and have an even better line, but again, that’s a HUGE stretch. -

This was my point, I’m FAR from an athlete of their level and I struggled to just get back to “normal”. Covid is real, regardless of your views about it, ideas on the vax etc. , it is miserable crap. I couldn’t believe it took some of these athletes so long to return to action, then I got it and yeah, I get it now. It’s not as simple as the flu, it can linger for what seems like forever. -

Anybody laughing at this hasn’t dealt w Covid. It took me 3 weeks to be able to get my normal lung capacity back after the rest of the symptoms went away. I had a mild symptom case, but it was a slow road to full recovery. I was just trying to get back to my normal gym routine, not compete against the most elite athletes in the world. -
Preseason TNF: WFT at Pats / Eagles at Steelers
DCofNC replied to YoloinOhio's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I can’t quite agree on win total, but I see your point. The thing is, you can tell people what’s coming and they still have to stop it. They brought in some good talent and they are getting a LOT back on D, so don’t discount that in the W column. I see them as a real contender for the playoffs, but I do believe that hinges on either Cam is back to a competent QB or Jones has one of those semi-special rookie years. The issue is, neither is going to be asked to do much and if the Ravens have proven anything, it’s you don’t need a great thrower to make it work. Regardless of who is closer here, I think we can both agree , the Bills SHOULD, beat them, but the Pats aren’t going to be a great match up if they can execute their game plan. -
