  1. Too many people undervalue the versatility provided by bottom of the roster guys like Gilliam. That versatility saves valuable cap space, same with Bates at his price point. Any player that can play multiple positions on offense or defense along with special teams will have a long - if unheralded - NFL career.
  2. Packers v Bears. I’m curious to see how Love plays. Particularly interesting will be the narrative that ensues if Love plays well this year and the Rodgers led Jets fail to meet expectations.
  3. They may have changed the rules, but there used to be a limit of $150 million with regards to borrowing against the equity of the franchise. That said, they can also sell 30% to partners.
  4. That’s a bit off. It’s 100% of guaranteed money into escrow. Non guaranteed salary can come from elsewhere. That’s why owners fight so hard against fully guaranteed contracts. That interest alone from that Burrow guaranteed money is at a minimum $10 million a year Brown isn’t pocketing. Guys like Pegula, Kraft and Kroenke can swallow it. Same with the Packer without an owner. For guys like Brown and Davis losing that liquidity and interest is a big deal. It’s one of the reasons that the raiders had to trade Kahlil Mack. Separates the rich owners from the guys who survive on NFL cash. Jones is a bit different because of how big the cowboys brand is.
  5. A firefighter that went to Rutgers, a retired air traffic controller, and a Wisconsin AD all on the crew may not bode well for a Rodgers lead Jets team on 9/11 either…. Kind of feels like drawing the short straw.
  6. With regards to the Dolphins…. They seem to forget that the last time the Bills played a Fangio defense they had 534 yards of offense, 5 touchdowns, and two field goals. Fangio is a great coordinator, but no DC can actually stop a top QB that’s figured out a defensive scheme.
  7. That offense will probably look very similar (at least to fans) to what Rodgers and Hackett ran under LaFleur. A lot of WCO concepts mixed with zone runs. Motion to spread out the defense and isolate receiving matchups on the wide side of the formation or create numerical advantages in the run game. Blitzing Rodgers can work, but it’s usually only effective if a lineman drops into coverage. Rodgers generally won’t be fooled, but the goal is to confuse a lineman or two and get a free rusher, so rarely blitzing but enough to make the line worry about it is key. Same thing goes for coverages… confuse the younger WRs into running routes incorrectly. Rodgers generally will not throw inside to guys he doesn’t trust. That said, Hyde and Poyer may be able to get one over on Rodgers here and there.

  9. Is he actually serious, or just trying to drum up clicks with his conservative audience? Been a while since he’s had an unbiased opinion.
  10. If you need google to connect “dalton” with “cooler” then you probably need google to connect “dalton” with roadhouse. 🤷‍♂️
  11. If you’re gonna go that route it’s gotta be better and play off the roadhouse riff. If he can calm Allen, grab those 1st down conversations in pressure situations then you gotta drop Swayze and go with “The Cooler”.
  12. While I don’t think Lazard is what you want as your secondary receiving option, he has a viable skill set which Rodgers can exploit especially when plays break down. He’s also one of the best blockers at the position which could lead to some big plays on the ground. Packers are going to miss him walking off defenders in the screen game and downfield on runs.
  13. Exactly. Adding say a Lee Smith type and Taiwan Jones/Tyler Matakevich type to reliably cover the gaps would cost 2-3 times the amount. Top specialist cost real cap space, having a guy who can cover multiple roles for one of those contracts helps retain guys like Poyer.
  14. I think the issue is that folks view him as solely a fullback when his utilization and skill set is more closely aligned with an H-back. Gilliam’s categorization is one of the reasons why everyone views the bills as not using much 12 personnel last season, but Gilliam was used as the second TE. That’ll certainly change with Kincaid, but they still need a guy who can fill that role as a backup and play teams. Folks have their minds made up though because he’s “a fullback,” so 🤷‍♂️
  15. I don’t care about the pro-bowls, but Browns four second team all-pro seasons carry some weight. Pro Bowl is more a popularity contest than an indicator of ability. For example, Ray Nitschke had seven all pro seasons despite only making one pro bowl. They need to just kill the pro bowl and walk away from the abomination
  16. If the Bills by two TDs in the meadowlands on 9/11 the jets fan base and media will go into catastrophe mode. 🤞🏼
  17. We’re not seeing eye to eye… I wasn’t including TEs in the “two WR 1” category, nor do I view some of those players (JuJu for example) as WR 1s. Adding a top TE into the equation as the #1 pass catching option along with a WR1 is a viable alternative to having two WR1’s which I listed as an example because of Gronk, Kelsey, Kittle, etc. It’s more about having 3+ players that can exploit defenses and game plans or 2 guys who can dominate along with a good rushing attack. We saw what happened to this offense without that third player (prime Beasley), so fingers crossed on Kincaid. I also don’t believe Davis is a comp to anyone on there. He’s much more like MVS on that Chiefs team, or to stick with another former packer; Lazard…. Firmly entrenched as a secondary option due to limitations. As a result, Diggs & Davis won’t be enough unless a third receiving option steps up big time or the running attack improves dramatically and becomes dominant.
  18. I’ll take a slightly different perspective with a similar theme…. It’s not unreasonable to have a 1A and 1B with all the WR talent in the league, but it’s not needed. However, if you don’t have a 1A and 1B you absolutely need three viable targets that can make game changing or drive changing plays in the passing game. Whether that’s 1A paired with two solid 2 WRs or a more “traditional” 1A, 2A, and a top 10 TE. With all the new talent at the WR position procuring two guys who are solid WR2 talents at differing stages of their careers should be attainable if it’s prioritized.
  19. Got both jobs for the same reason… A-A-Ron.
  20. Or a backyard mechanic in rural Georgia
  21. Adding a pair of power backs, a first round TE, an extra 1-tech, and a bear of a guard leads me to believe they recognized that as an issue. We’ll see if it works out the way everyone hopes.
  22. Gale Sayers as well. I don’t think Luck should get in. IMO, the only other shortened career that deserves to be in is Sterling Sharpe. Once Favre got to GB Sharpe was going back and forth with Rice for best receiver in the NFL for 3 years then the neck injury happened.
  23. It’s actually a pretty solid roster. The big issues were young receivers and revolving injuries, particularly on defense and the Oline. The interesting thing to me is that even with the injuries that Packers Oline was better than the Jets Oline last year. I’m really curious if Rodgers will extend plays this year or just turf the ball when there’s pressure like last season.
