  1. What professionals? We don't know that. Beane hasn't extended him yet. Though I agree someone is going to make the mistake of paying him top 3 money. I guess we just disagree that he is good at what he is asked to do. If you think his run support is good well I just don't know what to say. Yes he missed Colts game but he played Pats home game where defense gave up 225 rush yards. We don't run a 4-2 because of Edmunds and Milano. We run a 4-2 because most teams base offense is now a three WR 1 RB group with a TE that flexes out. And it works because Taron Johnson is the best nickel CB in the league and they have two great safeties. Has nothing to do with Edmunds. When they let Edmunds walk after this year they will still play nickel more than 60% of the time next year. Nothing would make me happier than to see Edmunds dominate. He is still young and if he played like an elite MLB for the next five years I would be ecstatic. That said if it comes down to paying Poyer, Knox, or Edmunds I pay Poyer and Knox and draft a new MLB next year.
  2. Just curious, what other rosters are in your top 3 or 4? Right now I think Buffalo is #2. They have serious question marks at the two starting corner spots that could end up being two great players by year's end. Also questions at both guard spots and RT though on paper they look better than last year. They have more depth at TE and RB than last year. I like the WR group as much or more than last year. I would rank: 1. Tampa 2. Buffalo 3. LA Chargers 4. KC 5. LA Rams To answer the OP, the postion I have the most concern has to be CB #1 and #2. By the middle of the season if Tre is healthy he and Elam may be one of the best CB tandems in the league. But as of now you have a guy coming off an ACL and a rookie. That is a lot of unknown. As much as I bash Edmunds, I dont think he will play worse than he did last year. In fact in a contract year he probably will be a bit better. After the two corner spots my next concern is RT. Brown was not good in pass protection and there is some depth but not much. If Brown plays better they have RT solved for a decade.
  3. You apparently didn't watch how poorly Edmunds played last year. For long stretches of the season he was the 2nd worst player on defense. The worst was whoever was lined up next to Oliver at DT. He was truly awful last year. Go back and watch him exclusively. He made 3 maybe 4 great plays all year. He made a nice INT playing trail coverage in the middle against a garbage QB, but it was still a solid play. Other than that a few nice tackles around the LOS. People say he has range and plays the zone well. Actually he doesn't at all. Just like he has no clue in run defense he gets lost in zone coverage. He actually is much better in man coverage. I did not see a single pass given up when he played man on the RB out of the backfield.
  4. Good topic 1. Jason Peters 2. Reuben Brown 3. Aaron Schobel It was painful to leave off Spikes and Winfield. But I prioritized pass rush and the OL.
  5. I'd rather they brought back Sanders, but this looks like a pure competition between Stevenson and him for the punt return spot. They don't have any good options at CB to return kicks. Again, i'd rather they bring back Sanders, cut Kumerow and Stevenson and let Hyde just field the punts and never take the chance of a penalty on a return.
  6. Love Brady giving everyone crap for not knowing what the Zapruder film reference means.
  7. Fred Jackson is 3rd all time rushing leader for the Bills. Ahead of Shady, Cribbs, Henry, Gilchrist, and several other notable names. Yes his career totals are less than half of Thurman and Simpson but he was still an excellent player. Fitz is fifth all time and has already been passed by Josh. He is fifth only because of the truly putrid list of names below him.
  8. For Christ sake no. Like the guy but hell no. There are several others that belong on the wall that are not My top 6 in order would be: 1. Byrd 1a.Schobel 2. Reuben Brown 3. Moulds 4. Jackson 5. K. Williams There are a number of guys that like Fitz were fan favorites but did not do enough while here in Buffalo to deserve being on the well Spikes Spielman Shady Fletcher S. Johnson Then there are a group of players that the fans dislike or left the team too soon that had far better careers in Buffalo than Fitz Dareus Evans Peters Winfield P. Williams Wolford
  9. Boiled nuts are gross
  10. 59 TD (53 rush 6 pass) in just 99 career games is amazing. For comparison - Shady has 73 TD in 170 games. Thurman 88 in 182 games, but only 65 rushing wiht another 22 via the pass. Hell OJ had 75 in 135 games. Barber scored at a HOF rate.
  11. I did not recall any attitude issues with Burkett but I was 15 when he was drafted and 19 when he was released. I just looked it up. He lost his starting spot to Flip Johnson in 1989 and he left practice. He was cut the next day. He was not traded to the Jets. According to this article below he was team MVP for the Jets. He would have a 9 year career (14.9 YPC which is dam impressive) and at the time of this article in 2020 was CEO of Big Bothers Big Sisters of Mississippi. https://www.newyorkjets.com/news/where-are-they-now-chris-burkett
  12. I thought he played his best football after coming back from his second bout of COVID. He was amazing the last quarter of the season and in the playoffs.
  13. Not after this season And had no impact on the return. Terrible play by Smith and correct call by the refs even if it was far enough from the return guy not to make a difference.
  14. This is a fun exercise to look up historical drafts. Marino did not require a trade up and the Dolphins drafted Mark Clayton that same year(and Reggie Roby in between). Hell in 1979 the 49ers take Montana in the third round and Dwight Clark in the 10th
  15. 1983 Bills drafted Kelly and Talley is one draft that comes to mind If Allen makes the HOF and wins a SB for the Bills it will go down as greatest draft class of all time. Bruce Smith is greatest player in Bills history. If Allen wins multiple SBs it won't even matter if he doesn't crack the top 10 in QB stats. He will be remembered as the greatest Bill of all time.
  16. Arguably yes, greatest not even close 1985 Bills drafted Bruce Smith and Andre Reed. Two HOF players in the same draft. Bruce is in the conversation for top 2 defensive lineman of all time. Bills also drafted Derrick Burroughs, Chris Burkett, and Frank Reich who were all solid players. Also they drafted Dale Hellesstrae who did little for the BiIls but would go on to have a 15 year career mostly as a long snapper with the Cowboys and earned 3 SB rings.
  17. I rewatched all the games. That isn't really true. He gets hit plenty. In fact he is the one initiating contact more often than not as he fights for yards. He rarely goes out of bounds willingly though he has gotten better at that and at sliding. That said most QB injuries happen in the pocket anyways. Hands get hurt glancing off helmets or legs get hurt when hit in the pocket. I'm fine with running Josh and fine with when he decides to scramble to pass or to run. Look at that first TD pass to Knox in the playoff game. He avoided 3 guys and still made a throw.
  18. Well holy hell pigs must fly and the world must be ending soon, because Chandler and I agree on something!!! I never watch in real time. I still go to the website and occasionally will click a short video clip from time to time. Had ESPN+ subscription back in the day but cancelled probably 6 years or so ago.
  19. This will be one of the most interesting scenarios to play out. Gabe has played great but most of his plays have been in four WR sets. You can't really say he has already proven to be a solid #2 because he has really never been in that role. You can say he has produced as well or better in his role as the #2 guy, but he has never consistently lined up against the other teams #2 CB. It's not that simple of course. But I'm just saying the game plan was not to feed him the ball. I don't know if he has enough raw speed to dominate in the #2 role. He certainly has the hands and he has enough size to match up well against most corners. All that being said, I think the offense will be better if Knox emerges as the true #2 receiving threat. If Knox can get to 75-80 catches and 900-1000 yards receiving the offense will be unstoppable.
  20. It was Chicago that signed Bates to offer sheet
  21. The learning curve for the NFL has changed dramatically in the last decade. And it all has to do with what is happening in college. Used to be you could plug and play your high draft pick OT for a decade. Not any more. OL play in college has devolved into nearly every play being run out of a two point stance. Centers are more NFL ready than OTs. In the past, QB and CB took time to develop. Now DT is one of the longest positions to develop. Teams pass so much in college and the route trees are nearly as complex. The pass defenses used by Power 5 teams is just as intricate in the pros. QBs and CBs are now stepping right on the field and if they have the talent they play reasonably well. Not discounting some learning curve, but if Elam has the skills he should be fine.
  22. I'm not disputing the facts of these studies. I would just add that the overall career length for all NFL players is less than 3 years. So you are taking a player that tears his ACL, then not even adjusting for how long they have already been in the league and then saying only 28% are still playing after 3 years. White is only 27. If he tore his ACL at age 31 it might be a whole different story. In fact he might not be in the league at age 34 even without an ACL tear. And not to be too harsh. But I kind of don't care about three years from now. I want to win now. So just be smart and not bring him back too early. Him playing in Dec/Jan/Feb is far more important than Sept. Agree with above poster as well, he never had elite speed. As long as he has adequate speed he should be fine. Long term he could be your replacement for Hyde in 2024.
  23. Cancel it. It has no value. If you want to do some skills contest that is fine. Do it 2 weeks after the SB in Hawaii so all the players that want to participate can. Also eliminate this alternate non-sense. You either get voted in or you don't. If you have no game to play then it doesn't matter if a few of the players can't or choose not to participate.
  24. All good and reasonable points. I'm higher on Saffold and you are higher on Boettger. I like way way you worded Quessenbury - a guy you want to upgrade if he is the starter.
