  1. Great discussion. I understand the logic and points made by the folks choosing to defer. And they are all valid points. I get the emotion of taking the ball and going out to win the game like in the past. At first I said take the ball, but reading the whole thread I'm changing my mind to defer.
  2. Football is a team sport. Both teams get to play offense and defense. Coin flip in regular season has not been a predictor of outcome for several years now. Oddly still a benefit in the playoffs. Unclear why. Now with this rule the coin flip loser assuming they play offense second knows what they need to do. They know how many points they need for win or tie again and it makes the entire possession 4 plays not 3 to keep the chains moving.
  3. I think what I like about DJ most is he seems to just speak about the player. Where McShay and Kiper as well talk about value in the draft. I understand the concept they are talking about but I think they play it up too much. No one cares if you get a great talent in round 1, 2, or 3. Just get the talent. Maybe DJ does that too and I mostly read his stuff as opposed to watching him. Perhaps there is some bias that way too.
  4. I can't get past Mayock and his praise for JaMarcus Russell. He was very polished when he spoke on TV and seemed to break things down well for the viewer.
  5. From an entertainment standpoint I think Kiper is still the best. As for content, I'm leaning towards Daniel Jeremiah these days. Perhaps Bucky Brooks as a close second. My least respected will always be Mike Mayock. That guy to me was all soundbite and no substance. And I thought that before he was a total failure as a GM. What do you all think?
  6. He was not that good when he played before the injury. He will probably be on PUP list all year.
  7. 100% agree. Only CB # 2 and a new punter are likely to make the team as starters. They should probably draft just 5 guys. CB, OT, P, WR, and S maybe 6 if you want to add another DT or OG. If they draft two OL then its virtually certain Ford would be gone
  8. Even if cost doubled in that time frame which it hasn’t $1.4B should still be enough.
  9. Smaller stadiums with nicer amenities and higher prices is the way to go. Go to any newer stadium and you will see there us much more room to move around and there are better and more diverse food and drink options. This part of the design makes sense. It should have been a downtown dome but once that was not on the table, this is the best they can do.
  10. Lucas Oil cost $720M. How can they spend $1.4B and not have a domed stadium that can be used year round? This is a horrible deal for taxpayers.
  11. If a team trades for him the salary goes with him. It's not an option. That is why if the Bills trade Edmunds it opens $12.5 M in cap space immediately. There is no prorated signing bonus money to apply to the cap either. The Browns can't eat salary in a trade. NFL trades don't work that way. And if they cut him, the Browns won't pay his full guaranteed salary either. Assuming he signs with another team, Baker will still get his fully guaranteed 5th year option. The team that signs him pays him a salary, and the Browns are on the hook for the remainder of his 5th year option.
  12. As long as this off-season they are correcting past mistakes, why not go get Jason Peters and let him finish his HOF career back in Buffalo with a SB win!!!!
  13. Did you watch the KC game? Have you seen what they have done this off-season? They are going to run more and use more two TE sets. I'm not opposed to drafting a WR. But they need to address CB and OL as well.
  14. If they keep Edmunds which I assume they will, then they do not need to add a linebacker. Therefore a safety in the top 4 picks is fine just not in the first two rounds. They have bigger needs at CB and OL. CB, OT, WR, S, then get a P. Almost every team needs to count on a rookie to contribute. Very rare to have what happened in Tampa Bay last year where they returned 22 starters. Bills have gaping hole at CB#2(that assumes White is ready to go) and OG. If they let Bates walk that pretty much leaves Ford starting again ant guard. And that assumes Brown doesn't regress at RT. The DL looks much improved but there are still issues that Beane needs to address in the draft. He has set himself up well to fill the spots he needs.
  15. Zay Jones got $8M per season and $14M of a $24M deal guaranteed. Landy is far better than Jones. It only takes one team with a need and cap space to over pay
  16. Yes Brown should start but its fair to say he struggled a lot at times.
  17. Love the enthusiasm!!! If you want to believe they have the true #1 defense I'm not raining on your parade today. Go BIlls!!!!
  18. Right I mean how stupid would it be to think Allen and Bills could lose to the Jags or blow a lead with 13 seconds. Super dumb.
  19. I don't understand your post. Yes I do look at stats because those represent facts. I also realize a player can do his job in any facet of the game and not get credited with a stat. My argument is between Kumerow, Jones, and Matakevich, who have little to no use on offense or defense, there are three roster spots taken up for a very limited number of plays. At least Neal can play some defense. I wouldn't pay Neal what he is getting paid but at least he can play defense.
  20. Chiefs in 2022 will be like the Bills in 1992. They are going to lose the division to the Chargers but still at least make the AFC Championship game.
  21. No dollars released as far as I could find. 5 days to match. Beane has spent most of his money already so he can take the full 5 days to decide what to do.
  22. 8 tackles in 19 games in 2021/2 Waste of money and a roster spot
  23. Fair amount of revisionist history in this thread. There were a number of posters that had their doubts about Allen after year 2. You know who you are. That said there were legit concerns. His deep ball accuracy was still a major issue after year two. And the stats don’t lie. 58.8% completion in year 2 is horrible. What was a sign of future success was his TD/INT ratio improvement in year 2. Keep in mind Lamar Jackson is winning the MVP,Allen losing to Watson in the playoffs with worries about hero ball, and Mahommes is going to the SuperBowl at the same time. I believe we all saw glimpses of greatness from Allen. But to say it was obvious he was going to make the massive improvement from year 2 to year 3 is disingenuous.
