Today’s injury report is encouraging [snip]
Nextmanup replied to chris heff's topic in The Stadium Wall
If you think about why his game log shows 16 games, in a 17 game season, things will start to make sense. -
Time for Beane to "break glass in case of emergency"?
Nextmanup replied to zow2's topic in The Stadium Wall
Now that we are finally a good team, a lot of people at this forum have become intolerable. Nothing can be discussed ever, because it's just a foolish attack of the mighty Buffalo Bills franchise. I wonder why people like this come to forums like this. They don't want to discuss anything anyway. -
Boomer Esiason suggests the Bills should trade for Barkley
Nextmanup replied to Greg S's topic in The Stadium Wall
If we are going to give up stuff to acquire someone on offense, I would rather acquire someone useful, like another really good receiver. We really aren't that deep at WR. I would be concerned about adding depth all over the field, on both sides of the ball, before I would think about RB. -
It's because he is an honest "big guy" and not puffed up. He has the body type where he will have to carefully watch his weight for the rest of his life, trying to keep it DOWN. Guys like Eric Wood had to work to keep weight UP during their playing. When he retired, he said he got down to (I think) 250 or 260 in just a few months. Shows you how bloated up he was at 310 in his playing days. Can you imagine what House Ballard looks like these days? I hope he's OK....he might weight 500 pounds now. How about Ted Washington? He might be 600 pounds. Those are "honest" big guys too!

Funny/Weird "part time jobs" as a young adult or while in school
Nextmanup replied to BringBackFergy's topic in Off the Wall
I enjoyed the Springbrook Hotel bartender story, especially as you were a 16 year old. BBF: What did you study at graduate school? Just curious. -
He may not even have been aware of what Van Roten was doing...but this commentary is coming from a guy who used to play center (for a little while at least) in the NFL. So he's tuned into different things on a different level. Can you please stop filling the thread up with garbage? Is your free time that valueless? Have you nothing better to do with your time?

This podcast has been discussed here before and is generally an excellent watch/listen. A few days ago, John Fina's mom passed away and so former Bills O-lineman Jerry Ostroski stood in for him after the Miami game. Jerry picked up where John left off, getting into a lot of nitty gritty technical line play discussion. I eat this stuff up with gravy! The whole podcast is worth your time, but I wanted to make this thread to discuss the video/discussion starting around 40:30 specifically. Jerry breaks down Greg Van Roten's silent count procedure, and how he was making a rookie mistake giving away the timing of the snap to the defensive line every time. He mentioned that if he (Ostroski) was the one doing that, John Fina would be in the huddle yelling at him and telling him to change it up on every snap. This gave Miami's pass rush a huge edge and they were just teeing off as a result. Just a very interesting little piece of the game that only ex-players are going to identify and discuss in this manner. I highly recommend this podcast regularly with John Fina, but I thought Jerry was fantastic this week! https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=i5FHnBNcmnk Go to 40:30

NFLPA initiating investigation into Tua’s concussion protocol
Nextmanup replied to YoloinOhio's topic in The Stadium Wall
You sound like you are either 17 years old, or have just lead a very isolated life such that you have no understanding of how things work in the world, generally speaking. You can't understand how an impartial doctor would in fact be partial? The NFL is going to interview/question three people as I understand it. They are going to talk to Tua. He is NOT going to say he had a concussion. Hopefully you understand THAT. Then they are going to talk to the team's doctor(s). He/they are also NOT going to say he had a concussion, hopefully you understand why that would be. Long story short: they want to keep their sweet, cool, cushy job, and not get fired tomorrow. Lastly, they are going to interview the "impartial neuro surgeon" or whoever it was evaluating Tua at halftime. He is equally going to say NOTHING about a concussion. Why? Because that would be career suicide for him. Think about it a little while. Also, think about where that doctor lives. What team do you think he pulls for? Who is giving him the gig to be the independent doctor involved in the protocol? BINGO! The Miami Dolphins...he lives in Miami...he likes the Dolphins...he likes being involved with the team behind the scenes, access to the players, etc....he ain't gonna rock the boat. Comprende? So this begs the question: what exactly does the NFL hope to accomplish with this "investigation" ???? Answer: NOTHING. It will be something they can say they did, so as to check a few boxes and look like they conducted a responsible review of the matter, and concluded that there was no wrongdoing. Selling Tua's utter punch drunkeness as a bad back was a creative idea from the legal department (I'm a lawyer) and I give them credit for that! But it's absurd, and doesn't pass the smell test. They have to sell his actions on the field as having nothing to do with his head. That is the only way it would have been correct to get him back in the game for the second half. The regs make it clear that if a player exhibits physical manifestations of head trauma (like being punch drunk with noodle legs and falling to the ground) he CANNOT RETURN TO THE GAME....and yet he did. So suddenly, all those indications of head trauma were really just a manifestation of a bad back. And you wonder why the whole crew down there might stick together and say "no concussion," huh? Good God man. Wisen up. -
Myles Garrett injured in car wreck (non life threatening)
Nextmanup replied to YoloinOhio's topic in The Stadium Wall
Based on that photo, (hard to tell) but it looks like a Porsche 911 Turbo. Nice car; and yet another NFL player who has no idea how to drive or control THAT much power and torque. LOL -
Anyone remember this show? My buddies and I LOVED THIS whenever that was...some time in the mid to late '70s? I have to say, listening to the theme song just now...it's rather dated and cheesy! LOL. We loved it back then.

Unfortunately, the Utica Comets hockey season starts on October 17th, when you'll already be done with your trip. Otherwise I was going to suggest taking in a little AHL hockey while there. I have no idea what else there might be to do in Utica, NY. Looks like you got some good pointers. There are good restaurants everywhere!

Nice home on a certain level, but the whole thing is done in such a classically cheesy, American style, I would have zero interest in any of it if I was shopping at that price level. The entire house needs to be corrected stylistically, and when it's that bad, there's nothing you can do. About the only thing going for it was the Aston in the garage...and even that should have been a Ferrari.

Hurricane Season 2022 - Florida Now in the Bullseye
Nextmanup replied to T&C's topic in Off the Wall
Don't waste your breath (metaphorically speaking) with these discussions. There are so many ________s at this forum. You can fill in the blank with the noun of your choice. I'm thinking of a whole bunch of them right now. By the way, I live in the northern West Palm area. It's gray, a bit drizzly....we'll have a nasty grey day for the second day in a row, but that's about it. I'm going to try to get in my beach walk today if I can. The folks on the west coast and like in the Sarasota area seem to have gotten the worst of it, but I haven't really looked into it since I got up today. -
Why exactly are we favored by 3.5 in Baltimore?
Nextmanup replied to Adamb412's topic in The Stadium Wall
You seem to be thinking that we are still, right now "The Buffalo Bills." We are not. We are the Buffalo Bills minus a whole BUNCH of our key players. That results in a team that is somehow not quite the Buffalo Bills, and it's why we got beat by the Dolphins. The team in Baltimore will still NOT be "The Buffalo Bills." It will be another injured iteration. What the betting means is that people who bet on football games still believe in the Bills, nothing more. It's probably because the average sports betting fan out there is not aware of just how banged up we are. -
I totally disagree. The rivalry feels alive to me now, and I declared it dead about 20 years ago. That game was chippy, there was personal stuff going on between the players on the field, Dorsey lost his mind, lots of good stuff to build a sound hatred on. I know I suddenly now care about the Dolphins a LOT more than I have in the last 25 years.

I think that's just who Josh is. Though he may still outgrow it. I thought all that stuff was over, that he had already matured beyond it, but as soon as conditions were right for panic Josh to show up, he showed up. We're probably just going to have to live with, and be content knowing that his entire package of pros and cons is still plenty good enough to win a SB.

They don't get to pop the champagne just yet. The Eagles are still undefeated. Fewer and fewer of those guys are left to actually pop the corks anyway.

Here's another one: Cheers Here's a great theme from the best tv series ever aired on a big TV network...

NFLPA initiating investigation into Tua’s concussion protocol
Nextmanup replied to YoloinOhio's topic in The Stadium Wall
That's great. I don't think I've ever seen that. I always do 2,500 sit ups per day with a 20 pound weight too.. I need to watch out. The thing to remember here is that even if he was "CLEARED" during the protocol at half time, there is a rule that says he can't re-enter the game...if he exhibited signs that he had a concussion. The noodle legs and falling to the ground would definitely quality as signs of concussion. So, even if he passed all tests with the independent neurologist, he should not have been allowed back in the game. That's why they are lying about why he fell and had noodle legs.... It's a legal defense, effectively. What horse *****! -
