I had a chance to end up on the field (for about 10 seconds) at Rich Stadium some time around our SB run, like 1990 let's say. I still remember how bad it was, and how hard the ground was. Also interesting from ground level to see how crowned the field is; much higher in the center than it is toward the sidelines for water drainage. If Josh runs to the sideline then throws back to the middle of the field, he's throwing "up hill" effectively.

I'm visiting OKC this weekend. Any Bills Backers bars here?

What is that? Oklahoma City? My condolences. -
That seems low to me, especially given the geography involved. Northern Europeans are STILL quite tall relative to the rest of Europe. In order to be able to join the Roman army under Trajan (@ 100AD) you had to be at least 5'11". Historic people weren't as "small" as modern folks seem to think. Not sure where that got started. They were smaller/shorter to a degree, sure, but not "little". I've mentioned this before in the context of Einstein Hate at this forum...but remember...most people here do NOT actually want to discuss football in a detailed, objective way. That's NOT why they are here. And almost all threads here can go into like only 4 or 5 main categories of thread, and they just get keep getting repeated and repeated and repeated. Now that I think about it, we haven't had a "I hate Mike Schopp" and "WGR-550 sports radio is terrible" double header thread in a few weeks. We are due!

Right, but you also have to caculate the chance he actually has to play, if he is designated the "backup". You're trying to connect intent to play Allen with a decision to not dress Barkley, but there is a disconnect there. It's a 2-step process. One, should we dress Allen and have him stand on the sideline? Two: would he ever actually have to play in the game? It could be that if Keenum starts but gets injured immediately, the Bills go to another backup plan, even though Allen is standing there in a uniform. I.E, he does NOT play. Why? B/c McD and his staff think this will have out-smarted the opponent and made them prepare for Allen when they didn't need to. They also may think playing a "disaster 3rd QB" is about the same as playing Barkley anyway. I.E., either way, we almost certainly lose.

11/13/22 GAMEDAY Vikings at Bills Pregame Thread Week 10

YES; STILL NOT SURE HE'LL PLAY -
On to Minnesota (get this game in the rear view mirror!)
Nextmanup replied to Chandler#81's topic in The Stadium Wall
You sure? -
I don't think "actual vikings" means NFL football players from Minnesota. I think he means actual Norse raiders with axes and stuff.
-
Yeah, it's been there all week long.
-
Especially if OBJ and Diggs are never on the same side of the field! The D can't cheat a scheme around BOTH that way...they'll have to pick.

Using Josh situationally while his elbow is <100%

You are employing critical thinking skills and viewing the world as a complex place, not a simple one with easy black and white answers. Your comments just went straight over the heads of most folks here. -
So was half this board! I've heard all week what an outstanding backup he is and how we have a great shot to win with him starting.
-
WOW! HEALING HANDS IS NO JOKE!
-
Every word you write here is correct, which is why I don't think he's playing.
-
I don't see how a "pitch count" makes any sense at all with White and his injury. I know people in the press keep repeating this. Either he can play without risk of any injury, etc., and is strong enough to play, or he isn't.
-
If he starts, we'll know he wasn't really "injured" at all. More of a "dinged up" type situation. If it actually is an injury, and he starts, someone should be fired.
-
Impossible to say that right now; we don't know what he's going to do, if anything, and we have no idea of the extent of the "injury" in the first place.
-
How would one, as a fan, make this determination? How does a fan judge the team psyche of all the NFL teams in the league? You're asking us to think for hundreds of individuals and assign them all a single, collective attitude.
-
Let's just see what happens. If Josh starts and worsens the injury, it could end our season. I'm still not convinced he playing; it just doesn't make sense.
-
I just can't believe Josh is going to start and play the game. The only that makes sense to me is if his "injury" was a hell of a lot more minor than we all thought it was.
-
I would suggest best case scenario is for him to average out at .500 over his string of starts. I think he'll play 2 games, loss against Vikings, maybe get a W against Cleveland...there's your .500 record and then Josh is ready to go again. That's about right for most backups in this league. They'll "win you one" but they'll also "lose you one."

It's his son, Max. LOL

Bills 7.5 pt favorite over Vikings
Nextmanup replied to RoyBatty is alive's topic in The Stadium Wall
Right, he is NOT playing; has nothing to do with the point spread though. -
Agreed! The "opposite" position here makes no sense. I think he is going to want a big deal that sees him to the end of his career in 1 place. If he is dead set on that, it won't be in Buffalo. It's Beane's (and Miller's, and White's) job to convince him to sneak in here for a few weeks on the cheap, grab another championship ring, and then look for the big deal somewhere else. If they can pull that off, I think he's here no question. Depends on what he wants! And we don't know what that is. It's not going to be about pure money at this stage for him.

Need help from jersey masters please....
Nextmanup replied to TheBeaneBandit's topic in The Stadium Wall
When I saw the thread title I thought he was looking for Bills fans in Jersey. LOL -
That's been part of it! The factors IB is talking about are changing all the time and vary from play to play. How the D defends varies from play to play. What Josh sees or decides to do varies from play to play. I don't know how you can make a sweeping generality and say "we are bad at X" "we need to do more Y" etc...
