  1. Titans have J. Smith on thier roster and they seem to like him. I don't think TE will be a high priority for them. Don't forget Washington. Jordan Reed is hurt all the time and his backup is the veteran Vernon Davis. Seahawks don't really have anyone either.
  2. It's hard to get caught up in all of the detail of potential draft moves until we see what teams do with the release of players and acquisitions in free agency. There always seems to be a team or two with GMs on the hot seat that need to pull a miracle out of the draft. Those are the teams that we should count on to reach for a player or pay too much to move up. Elway in Denver may be one of those guys this year. Washington and Jacksonville are probably in desperation mode as well. With all the drama in Pittsburgh and missing the playoffs, they may feel the need to jump at a missing roster piece before Big Ben's window closes. It's going to be fun to watch it all unfold.
  3. I agree with Logic on this. This is a logical approach in the development of both McD and the coaching staff of the team. Dorsey is a smart guy who played as well as he did because of his intelligence and not an over abundance of physical talent. He has been seen as having the potential to be an OC in the league.
  4. Carolina maybe shopping to deal with life without Cam. With his second right shoulder surgery, there is no guarantee that he will be ready to go or be effective when he is able to play. Denver won't stand pat with Keenum. Bengals may be looking to add competition for Dalton also. The Cheatriots will probably draft someone this year to grow into their number two and replace Brady down the road.
  5. I like the way you think. It would only be better if the QB they draft turns out to be a bust!
  6. The guy had some bad plays that have been highlighted. He also had some dominating performances that led him to be named to first team All SEC. He played on a bad team last season. I'm not sold on him at this point. The combine will tell us a lot about how he stacks up against other tackles in the draft. 9th pick might be a little high for any of these tackles. I don't see any Joe Thomas types in this draft. I do think there are multiple guys that will be an upgrade over Mills.
  7. me either......Beane just worked to get away from the Darius contract. He won't repeat the mistake and reduce his ability to improve multiple positions.
  8. Pathetic.....just like the rest of their organization
  9. You are right on about 2019 and Beane's approach. Whaley and Ryan had destroyed the roster and the cap. Beane knew it would take at least a couple of years to recover.
  10. I think you are right on point. McCoy danced in holes that were closing fast due to the terrible line play. The routes that he was asked to run were not downfield and didn't use his speed advantage over the linebackers that were covering him. When you look at the way that the Cheatriots use James White, it is completely different from the use of McCoy. White runs a lot of wheel routes, option routes underneath, and an occasional deep route up the seam against zones. White is a huge part of their offence. I believe McCoy is a faster and more illusive back than White. McCoy has been a good receiver throughout his career. He isn't going to be the guy to pound it between the tackles 20 times a game but he can still be a big part of an effective backfield. 2019 should be the year that McCoy is sharing reps with his replacement.
  11. Not bad......and certainly not as ridiculous as most that are already out there
  12. If all the Bills were missing was a QB, I would agree with you. Unfortunately, the rest of the roster is pretty thin. I hope you are correct but I don't see it happening. I keep reading that Beane is building for sustained success. That indicates to me that he will not go after high cost, high impact free agents in order to make a serious run to the Super Bowl. He doesn't seem inclined to jump to short term solutions that jeopardize long term success. I don't necessarily like that approach but it appears to me that this is the approach that he is taking. By the way, the tremendous talent he gave up (Darius, Glenn, and Taylor) didn't do much in the league this season and would not have changed Buffalo's season either.
  13. I was in the third row at the goal line and had a great unobstructed view of the play. Clay was late in his reaction to the ball and just played it poorly. He flat out dropped a catch that you would expect an NFL player to make. There was no defender in the play. You are absolutely correct about the playing surface there. Both teams were having trouble with it during the entire game. With all of the money that has been spent to improve that stadium, one would think that some improvement of the playing surface would have been made.
  14. From everything that I have read, the TE talent in this draft is not great or deep. There are better free agent options that other posts have pointed out. If best player available is the strategy for the draft (even after a trade down), TE won't be in play until the middle or later rounds.
  15. I think his play has declined over the last couple of years. I was at the Bills game in Miami this year and saw his drop at the goal line at the end of the game. His effort was pathetic. I also saw the reaction of McD when the ball hit the ground. He had the look of a guy who had seen enough. If I had to bet, I believe he will be gone.
  16. He is likely to be a cap casualty. He is still a very good player. Bean won't be interested, if he is looking for big money and a longer term contract. Realistically, Bean appears to be constructing the team to make a run in 2020 and 2021. McCoy's best years will be behind him by that time. As much as I like McCoy as a player, I don't expect it to happen.
  17. The Raiders have bungled this move tremendously. That being said, the blame for the move rests clearly on the city of Oakland and the state. The team has tried to get support to build a new stadium in Oakland for several years. When they changed their focus to a move away from Oakland, they had little trouble finding a good deal. Having had the misfortune to attend a game in that stadium, I don't blame Davis for taking this extreme measure. As some other posts have indicated, there are options. The Chargers had to deal with this problem and did not have great options either.
  18. I'm in the no chance camp also. Running backs from later rounds have excelled all over the league in the recent past. Teddy's got this right in my opinion. Free agent signings will set the stage for what Beane will do in the draft. He might even pull off a trade to fill one of the obvious needs. Beane has been fairly unpredictable.
  19. He worked in scouting and personnel. He works in broadcasting on the NFL network now. He is considered by many to know what he is doing and has a lot of contacts in the league. His assessments of draft talent are probably as good as anyone's this early in the process.
  20. I'd like to see Wade Phillips and Robert Woods win it as much as I'd like to see the cheatin' Pats lose it. Go Rams!
  21. It won't happen. Detroit needs pass rush help and won't pass on the talent that will help them immediately. Bucs need help as they move to a 3-4 defense. I don't expect them to give up on Ronald Jones and take another RB with a high pick.
  22. Given the sad state of the o line and lack of a stone cold killer attitude, what about Conrad Dobler?
