NFL 2024 Kickoff: Ravens @ Chiefs, Sept 5 - 8:20pm
CincyBillsFan replied to Einstein's topic in The Stadium Wall
Collinsworth is reminding me of just how bad an analyst he is. He claims that the only reason the Ravens are in the game is Jackson's play. Yet anyone watching the game can see that it's the Ravens defense, by twice holding the Chiefs to FG'sin the Red Zone then intercepting Mahomes, that is responsible for this being a close game. -

How come the KC Tackles can line up in the backfield but the Ravens tackles can't? It's ridiculous seeing how differently this game is being officiated on that particular rule. -

Very sure. The play design, by Reid was clever, even better was the choice by Reid to call that play at that time. Nice run by the rookie WR but nothing special. -

I'm pretty sure that almost any fast WR would have scored on that play. -

That Worthy TD was all Andy Reid. -
Funny though my recollection of that game was that while Allen wasn't at his best he wasn't close to being terrible. In fact his only TO was a meaningless INT at the end of the game. If a fight with his girl friend caused Allen not to have his best game then what did the defensive players go through the night before? Their play was the primary reason the Bills lost that game. And for the record who is Diggs to throw stones when he so often disappeared in playoff games and his last game in Buffalo against the Chiefs saw him flat out drop what would have been an 80 yard TD in the 4th quarter.
-
Well Diggs had the advantage of Kirk Cousins and Josh Allen as his QB's. By the time Samuel got to Carolina Newton was fading fast and after that he was being thrown to by a collective cast of below average QB's. If he stays healthy Samuel, like Beasley & Brown before him, will enjoy the best seasons of his career with Allen.

AFCE predictions and thoughts '24
CincyBillsFan replied to Inigo Montoya's topic in The Stadium Wall
This. -
As good as most predictions I've seen. In fact if during a transition year the Bills go 12 -5, win the division again and advance to the AFC championship game I'm calling it a great success. IMO 2025, with two 2nd round draft picks and a lot of CAP room is the year the Bills win their Super Bowl.

The Athletic Survey: Josh Allen or Lamar Jackson?
CincyBillsFan replied to Sierra Foothills's topic in The Stadium Wall
I agree. This writer is an absolute hack with what seems to be minimal knowledge of the players involved. How he doesn't discuss the fact that Allen has played much better in the playoffs is astonishing. That trumps the 2 MVP's for the simple reason that playoff performance is a real thing that can be quantitatively measured. MVP's are a subjective award that involve more opinion then facts. -
Don't forget that Allen has also caught a TD pass in the playoffs (against Houston). Watch a replay of that catch and score and Allen took a wicked hit as he crossed the goal line. So Allen's playoff TD to turnover numbers are 27/6 versus 9/9 for Jackson. That's a huge difference which completely eclipses whatever advantages people think Jackson has in the regular season.

Receivers the Bills could go after?
CincyBillsFan replied to Desert Bills Fan's topic in The Stadium Wall
And Mahomes accomplished this within the framework of a passing game designed by the best offensive coach in the NFL today and with the best pass catching TE to have ever played the game. -
Postgame thread (8/17/24) - Bills at Steelers
CincyBillsFan replied to BillsFan619's topic in The Stadium Wall
The Bengal's scored 3 points against the Bears yesterday. I would say that was a preseason issue and not a player issue. Ditto for the Bills. -

And Wilson was awful as he tried to make a case for getting into the Check Down Charley HOF. The Steelers are so screwed at QB. -
Preseason week 2 (non Bills related)
CincyBillsFan replied to 78thealltimegreat's topic in The Stadium Wall
I didn't think Williams looked that good. Living down here in Cincinnati I watched the first half and I saw Williams go 3 & out the first three possessions when he faced mostly Bengal's starters. He was like 2 of 6 for 12 yards with a couple of really bad passes. It wasn't until the Bengals back ups were in late in the 2nd quarter that Williams did anything. I'll reserve my judgement. As for the Bears, damn they seem to be trying real hard to win their preseason games. Burrow didn't play and the backup QB was hurt so the Bengals went with their 3rd string QB and he moved the ball on the Bears 1st team D. -
JA’s favorite pass of his NFL career
CincyBillsFan replied to BillsFan619's topic in The Stadium Wall
My favorite Allen pass was his 75 yard throw to Foster his rookie year as three Jacksonville D linemen were engulfing him. That throw told me Allen was something very different.- 57 replies

Bears @ Bills - Preseason Game 1 - SAT 08/10 - 1 PM
CincyBillsFan replied to DaBillsFanSince1973's topic in The Stadium Wall
Applying Analytics to the results of the 1st week of preseason is ridiculous. It's like putting ketchup on uncooked road kill - it won't help. Sorry but Turner and Cover 1 must be doing drugs to even bother looking at such data. For crying out loud they apply a level of precision, 34.8% not just 35%, that is laughably crazy for a game that neither team is actually trying to win. -

Fair enough but do you think today's Bills care any more then the old Bills whether they win or lose these games? -
Against the Steelers last season they looked even worse IMO and that was in the 2nd preseason game. The Bills were down 14 - 0 at the end of the 1st quarter while playing their starters. It was 21 - 0 at the half and 27 - 0 at the end of the 3rd quarter. The only players to do better in last preseason's dud game were the 3rd & 4th stringers who mostly did not make the 53 man roster. And given the turnover in players this season it's not surprising that coming out of the gate in 2024 the Bills would be flat and get stomped in the 4th quarter by a team that had already played a preseson game.

This is distorting why some wee annoyed with Diggs: * There are effective and not effective ways to be "demanding of teammates". Diggs approach appeared to be counterproductive doing more damage then actually getting your teammates to play better. * Diggs himself under performed in the playoffs. I believe that he had only 2 TD catches in 9 playoff games with the Bills. Even more alarming was that during the last two seasons (2022 &2023) Diggs production fell off sharply later in the season after starting on fire during September & October. Diggs appeared to be the Tua/Dolphins of WR's here.

A distinction without much of a difference. I'll rephrase my statement though: back in the day when they were going to Super Bowls the Bills had plenty of preseason games in which the level of play was bad.
