Thanks for sharing this one @Hapless Bills Fan, really got a kick out of this—love it when the NFLers can be self-deprecating and mix it up with regular joes all in good fun. Definitely gave those kids a lifelong memory and made them Goff fans for the duration of his career I’m sure ?. I could totally see JA pulling something like this off too!

Rex had infinitely greater individual talent to work with on the line and at WR. The dead cap $ his roster carried in 2016 was a paltry 18.7 mill, hardly a blip compared to the 70 mill carried in dead cap $ this season. Put another way, McD had to make do with peanuts because that’s all the Bills could afford this year, and still managed to get an overwhelmingly young roster into fighting shape by the end of the year. Rex’s group tuned out his bluster and rolled over without much of a fight when it was time to save his job. This year, the Bills have been steadily improving and ended on a crazy high note. The development of late round and undrafted talent has been especially gratifying to see. Rex was too busy trying to keep his no-talent brother Santa ?? employed, and developed little talent along the way—simply ran into the ground what he had, (4th ranked D dropped to 19th) by way of a half baked schematic structure that prominently, memorably featured Super Mario playing safety for all intents and purposes. You always were a buzzkill...? -
I think it might be because we of the JA fan club deal with enough Allen negativity from within our own fan boards here at TBD, it’s a reflexive reaction now ?. Point taken however, and I can’t wait to review the national hot takes after we start stringing together some decent win streaks in 2019.

Eagles at Bears -Playoff Game Sunday

How that game was not delayed/cancelled remains a mystery...but I bet it was fun to call it--you could just make up your own play by play with none the wiser! -

I usually can tell by my overall heart rate--it's been eyeopening to me how much variance in my BPM ever since I started wearing a smartwatch that tracks that sort of thing, even if I couldn't physically always tell. I average 12-16oz. before noon, and maybe one more 8-12oz. cup in the afternoon if I need a pickup, but no matter what I always need that 1st cup to really get going in the morning. -
I hope our scouting department/FO is putting in at least half the effort you’ve gone to in creating this thread—well done!

Bills fire ST Coach Danny Crossman

Anytime you want to start talking about what was smart or dumb when it comes to the NFL draft, brother, if you have better insight than all of the draft gurus, draftniks, draft nerds, Mayocks and/or Kipers of the world, then by all means weigh in on that and get paid for it! Plenty of them routinely wet the bed on their sure thing picks, as it's the quintessential inexact science out there--just as many misses as hits, all across the board. The Bills don't have a monopoly on that, good or bad, and never will. Right moves? Edmunds was just named the defensive rookie of the month for December, and Allen is a gamebreaker with his ridiculous athleticism/tools. You've got to hit at the top of the draft in order to survive as a regime long term, and so far so good, IMHO. Even in the later rounds with Phillips, Johnson, Neal and Teller, all should be solid contributors for years to come. Arguably the only misses so far could be Ray-Ray, and obviously Proehl who was cut as a 7th rounder. And that's just for Bean's draft, the year before was the awkward Whaley/McD pairing, although it seems pretty clear McD was steering the ship already in the 2017 draft. White is a lockdown corner, Zay is starting to come around and should be a solid 2 or 3 after all is said and done, Dawkins was one of the more reliable linemen and Milano has been playing lights out as a gem in the 5th round. So far in addition, Wallace and Foster both look to be steals as UDFAs; seriously, do I need to keep going? The blowout losses stopped with the emergence of Allen coming back from his injury (actually even before that, with Barkley), and the arrow is pointing up with this franchise since then! We ate a roadkill burger with the cap this year in fixing Whaley's sins so that we now are in a position to blow FA period out of the water, in addition to 10 draft picks--so would you rather be the Jets or the Dolphins right now in our division instead of us? -

Bills fire ST Coach Danny Crossman

KB's playing time and targets decreased noticeably as the younger guys flashed potential, especially Foster, and NP played himself back into a starting job over the course of the offseason/preseason. Then the QB injury bug hit and he was forced into spot duty yet again. No FO will ever be perfect, and I agree that Star is overpaid and Trent has been a disappointment with his injuries this year, but you can't hit on everything, and they are making plenty of other "right" moves along the way that are paying dividends already. Let's revisit this in another year. -

I don't disagree with most of your points, but I'd also say that McD hasn't shied away from admitting his mistakes and moving to change what he can to correct those as he is able. Say what you will, but I don't think that an oversized ego the likes of which afflicted Rexy, is a problem that he has shown thus far. -

I don't think the "plan" and firing a couple assistants are mutually exclusive--as the plan rolls forward, the quality of progression, play, staff, are always being evaluated to see where betterment can be had. It was quite clear that the sheer number of ST gaffes even late in the year, were not excusable based on the talent playing alone. Would you have advocated to keep any of the 3 let go so far? Coaching like anything else, is fair game along the way. Also, we haven't heard peep about Terry inserting himself into the day to day, to his credit. He's letting the FO, HC regime do what it needs to do to present a product in the mold that they want it, IMO. If the results don't start showing as wins next year, that's a different story then I'm sure. -
Any of your explanatory scenarios could be it, good post. # 2 to me seems the most likely, but at the end of the day I’m glad things went the way that they did so we could land him, and some of the initial skeptics on the team given the tweets, such as Lorax, have also clearly come around because of the character Allen’s displayed since he got here. Side note: the NFL or any of its clubs have the ability to locate deleted tweets without blinking an eyelash, but security footage from hotel lobbies may as well be secured in Fort Knox?? Right....

2019 HC openings - updates

It’s not Rich Kotite’s league any longer—except for Hue Jackson, that guy had Sam Wyche (in Tampa) type staying power! -
No, I drew a line at 8-8 from a purely W-L standpoint as that would almost assuredly not get us into the playoffs, but was curious what folks here would consider a better interim step—more regular season wins or one playoff win, simple as that. Obviously the SB option was tongue in cheek, much as we’d love that.
-
I figured it was most likely that 9-7 or 10-6 would result in a playoff berth, but would you rather have a weaker reg season win total but a wild card win or a double digit win rec for the first time in 20 years—also agree with another poster that 8-8 just wouldn’t feel like a success under any circumstances, so it seems like 9 wins is the minimum bar?
-
At some point, the foundation laid by ‘the process’ over the past couple years, combined with impending FA pickups and another draft class, must translate into consistent wins on the field. Many of us believe they are on the right track to accomplish this, but what realistically does that mean for 2019? What is the minimum in terms of wins that will be necessary to get to, no matter what else happens?

Final Tremaine Edmunds numbers, shoutout from Bills PR

Or he can just leapfrog the blocks to make plays like we saw him do against Miami—either way this kids should be a terror to opposing offenses for years to come I hope!
