Postgame Thread Bills Redskins
NoHuddleKelly12 replied to Hapless Bills Fan's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Would you prefer an offensive wunderkind like say, Adam Gase? The Bills are winning, but leave it up to some in our fan base to complain about style points along the way. -
Seattle Seahawks Have "Gig Posters" for Games

Why can’t we have nice things like this exactly? -
What "type" of fan are you? Coming clean
NoHuddleKelly12 replied to Billsfan1972's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
As a fan who "chose" the Bills (Kelly's hometown right by me) given where I grew up in western PA Steelers country, I've been used to being in the minority as a Bills fan anywhere I've lived in the States since then too. Pretty or ugly, doesn't much matter to me as long as it's a W! I'm just as happy when our D-line registers a sack, as I am over a chunk play on offense. We all know this year's iteration of our Bills hasn't even hit its stride of what it can accomplish, so I remain optimistic we are going to put it together to peak at just the right time for a stretch run. At 5-2 with problems, we've all seen much worse to complain about the past 20 years! -
Appreciate your work Kelly, I hope you get a good bounce-back type game this week to write about!

The Morning After the NFL Trade Deadline
NoHuddleKelly12 replied to H2o's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Great post OP, it's obvious you took some time to work through/reflect on the last 24 hours in a well-reasoned way, as opposed to for example, flying off the handle about the Bills not landing a WR in his 30's that's not going to get us to the SB this year anyway...in the immortal words of Kenny: -
Andy Dalton benched in Cincy

Ah, like an upgraded Derek Anderson 2nd QB coach type? I could get behind that. -

Color me surprised if these guys stick around for another year of NFL grind with such obviously diminished skills? -
And yet...the most effective measuring stick to evaluate the growth curve of a (very) young/green QB would be his actual class of peers coming out the same year. For Kelly, that was Marino/Elway et al. 1983. For Rivers, it would be Big Ben, Eli, and so on. How exactly would that comparative approach be considered "Silly?" Silly would be trying to compare Josh this year to say, Tom Brady, draft class 2000, in his 19th year, no? So again, are you willing to also call Darnold a bust? Mayfield? Rosen?
-
Point taken as to a purely passing benchmark. And the W-L record at 5-2 is also the same, so yeah, how exactly is Josh playing any worse than his peers? And frankly I'd still rather have Josh than Darnold any day of the week and 2x on Sundays. Asking when we are going to "admit" that Josh is a bust is about the most hot take of hot takes being posted around here, imho.
-
Are you willing to be intellectually consistent and make the same judgment call as to the can't miss prospects drafted ahead of Allen, in Darnold and Mayfield? "I see ghosts" Darnold's ongoing pick tracker notched another 3, to make 7 over his last 2 games for starters, going along nicely with 8 (not a typo), sacks taken yesterday alone...Mayfield's W-L record is the inverse of Josh's at 2-5, but hey, who's counting? Unless you are willing to call the entire 2018 QB draft class a bust at this point, minus Lamar who's playing lights out right now, then you are unfairly singling out Josh's coming of age roller coaster ride that we're on, and not taking into account all of the other variables in play, together with the aforementioned peer comparison points.

Trade Deadline Woes for da Bills
NoHuddleKelly12 replied to IgotBILLStopay's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
At least you're trying to keep some stand up comedy material going on this gloomy Monday on the boards. Kudos for that! -
This. I still have all the confidence in the world that we have a special talent at QB right now, but I wonder if all the emphasis on the short game over the offseason to the exclusion of all else for his game, has been a factor in why it's been so difficult to mirror the long balls from back half of last year.

Week 9: Bills (-10.5) vs Redskins
NoHuddleKelly12 replied to Cygnus99's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
How this team responds to adversity (which we knew would be coming at some point this season) will be must see TV this weekend; I agree McD has always had a knack for getting the guys to respond following disappointment and not losing the locker room cohesion. -
Your truth may not exactly jive with some of the rest of us who believe the truth to be different about this team. Time will tell. Am I upset/disappointed about today? Of course. But to call the 2019 Bills fraudulent? No need to go a bridge too far. Case in point—guess who beat these same Eagles for their ONLY win so far? The hapless other birds of prey, the Falcons. Does that mean we are worse than the 1-7 Falcons? C’mon man. It’s the NFL, any given Sunday and all that. Next week should make us all feel better again.

Bills 13, Eagles 31 postgame thread
NoHuddleKelly12 replied to 78thealltimegreat's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
^^^^^This. The sky is not falling—did anyone here really expect the Bills to go 15-1 rest of the way? Most folks were in the 9-7 or 10-6 camp before this year, and I still bet we end up 11-5 when it’s all said and done. That said, I agree with the posters who feel that Daboll did the O no favors today with his play designs for the elements and lack of adjustments into the 2nd half. Need to see improvement across the board next week, and a return to form for a D that was gashed on the run. -
Josh Allen fined for throwing ball into stands
NoHuddleKelly12 replied to YoloinOhio's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Josh I’m happily paying the fine with you in spirit, hope you continue to wear your exuberance on your sleeve—it fires up your teammates and those of us watching from the peanut gallery! -
Josh is just wrapping up the equivalent of one (1) full nfl season of games played as a starter—we cannot forget that, which is why I feel like he’s growing as rapidly into his role as we could possibly reasonably expect, plus some gravy to boot! Outside of the evil empire NE, he hasn’t lost a game since Dec 9 of 2018, FWIW http://www.nfl.com/player/joshallen/2560955/gamelogs?season=2018

Frank Gore is a freak and I love him
NoHuddleKelly12 replied to dollars 2 donuts's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Love the Kenneth Davis shout out, OP—agreed we would’ve prolly been happy to have those types of numbers from him, instead he’s giving us more of a Thurman type flavor, which is gravy spectacular!!
