  1. Bills offense time of possession was 29:59 for the season which strangely enough is very similar to the stat for 2018 By eyeball the offense was much better in 2019 then 2018 So that stat is probably more skewed by the style the defense plays At some point McDermott/Frazier need to be more aggressive on defense. After all its not the offense that allows 15 play drives. That said a lot of those longer drives were extended by sloppy tackling which again might be from fatigue. Sometimes you gotta take a shot to get a team off the field instead of waiting for them to mess up on their own. What we can hope is that 1. the offense gets more potent and the opposing teams press more leading to turnovers/less wear and tear on the defense 2. we get a elite edge rusher or someone develops that can dominate at the los without needing to scheme pressure No offense to our D line but a lot of the pressures were from stunts/scheme and coverage.
  2. Perriman would be well worth a look He appears to be finally rounding up into a player approaching his draft status Big and fast exactly what we do not have on the roster. Should be a reasonable price and still young and ascending
  3. Sure hope so . Needs to be better with personnel usage As well as not over thinking things I always wonder why the jet sweep was not a staple function in every game? You would think we would attempt it to test the edges at least a couple time per game vs a Frank Gore up the gut run on 2nd down. I have my fingers crossed we get some elite talent on offense in the offseason to take some pressure off both Josh to execute and Daboll to scheme the perfect play
  4. Poyer was a bit lackluster Feel like his name got called good portion of missed tackles and breakdowns. I agree their stats would look better if teams were attacking downfield which is not where they hurt the Bills this season. Or if we were more of a attacking defense vs the bend dont break approach. Tackling in general was sloppy and more so the second part of the year. When you play a lot of zone and allow short catches you have to limit the yardage after the reception with a quick clean tackle I though the Bills were a bit suspect there (this is not directly aimed at Poyer/Hyde) Checkdowns seemed to be a Kryptonite this season
  5. I'm torn between continuity or a fresh approach. On one hand the talent around Josh is still suspect though improved by leaps from 2018. On the other hand bizarre personnel usage and continuously out thinking himself seem to be Daboll trademarks. Maybe year 3 with talent added is the charm. I think we'll know very early next year. I did not see a huge change production wise over the course of the year. Games they executed at a very high level the offense was good Games there were snafus the offense sputtered. Need to see more explosiveness (talent) Also less of a need to be perfect on every snap to get drives into tds. Really feel the offense is too dink/dunk for Josh Allen's skill set but that may have been the result of the personnel
  6. Season 1 was very good with a mystery element. I got bored in Season 2, very political bit slow moving for me I guess Amazon picked it up for a new season so I may try and get back into it. I have no clue what is going on but its been enjoyable so far (have a few eps left) Probably helps if you read the novels/played the game which I have not. The Dark a german sci fi show was very good (only watched Season 1 so far)
  7. RIP Neil Peart
  8. what kid growing up in the 70's/80's didn't air drum to a Neil Peart solo? Always a killer live show Blessed to have seem them multiple times over several decades RIP Professor Dead or in the background. Kids listen to Pop/Rap. Electronic music means less kids interested in playing instruments/being in bands. I don't listen to much produced after the 80's and my sweet spot is 1970-1976
  9. Probably because we got used to seeing Robert Foster 5 targets 0 receptions 0 years each game Any production is better before that it was Zay Jones 5 targets 2 receptions 10 yards each game
  10. I'd try and sign Kareem Hunt Whatever they decide its imperative they add a 2nd nfl starter quality RB
  11. I think asking them to get stronger and more physical might be a bit much Beasley's game is short area quickness and he's not a big guy. Brown is downfield speed and again not only not a big guy but small frame. John Brown assumed a role he's not a physical match for and he did as best of a job as he could. Better we allow/put them in a better position to succeed which means bigger more prototypical wrs on the outside. I'm certain Brandon Beane knows this, we just have to hope he hits again in FA/draft to address it. They had good success with those two so maybe he can upgrade yet again.
  12. My 2020 wish list : Better personnel on offense Defense playing more aggressive New punter Coach McDermott showing some growth in both in game decision making and personnel choices Continued progress from Josh Allen 10+ wins and a playoff win
  13. John Brown and Cole Beasley had career years in 2019. I don't expect more out of them. To be fair both lived up to what I though they could bring 110% . I didn't believe John Brown could stay healthy for 16 games and certainly not with the volume he handled. Neither of those guys is much more than a competent NFL wr . Bills need a difference maker A player that can overcome tight coverage/win 50/50 throws/shuck press immediately make some plays most player cannot. Asking Josh Allen to turn those guys into Jerry Rice and Steve Largent seems like a ridiculous proposition. I'm pretty certain Brandon Beane knows it.
  14. LOL just paraphrasing McDermott's response. I think most of us are of the same opinion that personnel decision making needs work Hopefully roster upgrades will make a lot of these head scratchers go away
  15. I think the Baylor hire is following the trend of hiring young coaches and he did rebuild both Temple and Baylor quickly from dumpster fires into very good college programs. They are hoping for a Sean McVay. Leslie Frazier did not fare well as a head coach. Eric Bienemy will get a job. If not this cycle then soon.
  16. Evidently he did not show enough in practices to earn the right to play till week 17 I am paraphrasing McDermott when asked about Duke. Guess we'll have to accept it,
  17. Yeah they submit their interviewees. I think Eric Bienemy might get a shot He's got the experience and working under Andy Reid might be appealing as fresh hire from the offense side of football . Leftwich just got into coaching,, he was intern just a few years ago. Marvin Lewis? I dont follow college enough to comment on college coaches who might be serious candidates. To say that many owners/GM's would not consider a good candidate of color seems foolish GM's job is on the line and the owner wants to make money You hire the best person for the job. Winning is everything, however I still maintain nepotism might over rule everything else
  18. I can't imagine what Eric Bienemy (for the sake of an example) must be thinking when he's called in as a formality I'd be a little pissed off frankly. I think the process of hiring is more about nepotism than racism. Look at Jerry Jones, his typical staff was all Cowboys alums. Look at the Bills Is Beane here without McDermott's recommendation? Gaines? At that level a lot of it still who you know much as it is in upper echelon corporate America. As we see more GM's & coaches of color you will slowly see a more diverse fraternity of coaches. You're seeing more younger assistants of different backgrounds coming up . Is there someone of color who is being overlooked right now? Who is Stephen A Smith saying is being overlooked? Or is he just baiting and trolling as usual.
  19. Allen the Game manager put up 370 yards of offense on his own with the worst skill position group in the playoffs . Game manager would be Tannehill who somehow won with 70 yards passing and two ints. We should have run Singeltary more and were still one play away from winning.
  20. Think most know he's better suited as a OC
  21. That's how I read it. Curious how quickly they tend Shaq an offer.
  22. I agree he needed more touches especially in OT where the clock was no factor. They really managed Singletary's usage this season McDermott mentions something in his presser about needing to spell rb's I don't think the Bills are looking for a bell cow feature back situation. I don't get the feeling that the Bills are a team that is overly concerned with their offensive personnel and what the play call is We've seen some bizarre personnel choices in play selections all year. Or Daboll doesn't adjust his playcall to go with who he has on the field especially in no huddle. I cant come up with any other explanation for Gore, DiMarco lined up as WR's as often as we saw Or running Gore on sweeps etc
  23. Much as I malign Daboll and question some of the playcalling is there a team left in the playoffs that has a weaker skill group around their qb? Maybe the Seahawks with their current rb situation. Better personnel in 2020 should do wonders That is not excusing throwing almost 50 times so yeah I have my doubts as well
  24. I think they drafted all those guys thinking they would develop into a WR1 They are going to add talent to WR/RB. I think they see Allen needs help to avoid falling into hero mode. Much as I am enamored of AJ Green its dwelling on the player he was several years ago. If they bring in a FA I'd prefer Breshad Perriman on a modest deal and double down with WR early in the draft.
