Official Schopp and Bulldog Thread
BillnutinHouston replied to Ol Dirty B's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
All of this is very apparent. But his voice. Oh my, his voice! Truly ear splitting; a voice for print journalism. -
To me, the essence of the OP's question pertains to the wisdom of making decisions based on a small sample size. I think it's a valid question. We COULD look at his back shoulder TD throw to Benjamin, recognize that we never saw Tyrod make that throw, and extrapolate that to say Peterman may be the best bad weather QB ever. That would be a ridiculous extrapolation. But so too might be tossing him over one half of bad football.

Wow, I didn't realize there are still people left who think DD even HAD a source. -
Bills hire John Butler as secondary coach
BillnutinHouston replied to YoloinOhio's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Since Butler is seen as a DC prospect, this hire may also ensure Frazier doesn't get too comfortable. -
So maybe I'm just slow but after reading JW's article I'm not clear on whether the hiccup yesterday was essentially a last minute effort by the Bills to manage their cap situation, or if it was EWood disputing some aspect of his bonus. I was hoping Wood was actively (graciously?) working with the team to find a cap friendly "out", but I'm not sure that's the case.

Dumb list filled with inaccurate statements, but what takes the cake is mentioning Wood in that list. That's just ignorant.

Putting down a dog (or other pet)
BillnutinHouston replied to BillnutinHouston's topic in Off the Wall Archives
Well today is the big day. Taking him in at 5:00. Have had some good chats with the fam and where this has fallen is, I'm doing it alone. He really has been "my dog" for many years so it's probably appropriate. I want to thank all of you for your support and suggestions. Very helpful. -

I wonder what the football people at OBD are thinking when they hear Brandon refer to football as "content". That has to be irritating. -
Are the "inside sources" trustworthy?

I'd submit that the ruckus "creator" as you put it, is the one who puts the lies out there in the first place. -
Are the "inside sources" trustworthy?
BillnutinHouston replied to simool's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I couldn't disagree more. If holding the truth in high regard is passe, then call me old fashioned. Anonymous internet or not, I still cling to the belief that we all have an obligation to tell the truth. Stating opinions is perfectly fine; that's the lifeblood of this board. But its not OK to say you have a source when in reality the only one speaking to you is that little voice in your head. We have very passionate people on this board, some of whom are easily manipulated and excited. It's not Ok for them to be used and manipulated by a few pathetic posters whose only distinction is their desperate need for affirmation and attention. These people need empathy and help, not enabling. -

Putting down a dog (or other pet)
BillnutinHouston replied to BillnutinHouston's topic in Off the Wall Archives
I wish I could say this was an analogy as you say. Parting ways with a mediocre QB is much easier IMO. BTW, thank you all for your advice and empathy. This is a tough one. -
So I found myself making an appointment this morning to have my 14 year old dog put to sleep. He has been a wonderful pet, rescued from a shelter at 1 year old, but has hips so deteriorated he can now barely stand. He's been on pain meds for awhile but when he stands up he's leaning worse than ever. I'm planning to do the deed myself, although my wife and daughter have offered to join me at the vet. I've politely declined and they haven't pushed back. I'm not really sure if I've refused their "help" out of selfishness or if Im actually protecting them from the sight of it. Any suggestions or advice is appreciated.

Article from Yahoo Sports on Mayfield

What exactly are the character concerns, other than being "brash"? -
Probably. Make the sausage in private then do the fanboy stuff for the TV cameras.
