  1. That is the thing. There is always some excuse to explain it away. Like the Bills are the only team dealing with something. Every team has injuries and has to adjust. Some of the Bills ST play this year was just inexcusable. No idea why that guy has a job...hopefully they are planning on a change just waiting for the dust to settle. I hear you. I guess I get annoyed by excuses and inconsistent messages. We are promoting Babich because look how great his players have performed. But we are not firing Smiley because he is a good coach but his players did not perform. Meanwhile many of the ST players were ones also coached by Babich. I dont need some massive blow up. But many teams around the league get better by adding talent to the coaching staff yet we already have the best staff top to bottom so dont need any help.
  2. We consistently hear about execution being the reason for the Bills losses and primary theme to playoff exits. The close games are discussed as a supporting narrative to McD success. A lot of these games had time out blunders, penalties, dropped passes, poor play-calling, etc. At what point is responsibility taken for mistakes in most of the close losses and playoff failures? That does not mean McD needs to be fired but at some point some new blood should be brought on the coaching staff. They blame lack of execution but then promote position coaches who coached those players that resulted in lack of execution. Coaches get credit for players that play well. But when that is not the case its all on the player. Cook fumbles and he is benched for a half. There is a consistent trend of blame that seems to occur all too often. Then whether it be from the Bills themselves or the folks that work for the Bills via WGR talking the story always changes. Is it too much to ask to bring in someone from the outside that has an eye for detail which is lacking on this staff. It just feels like settling for getting close which leads to complacency and the inability to get over the hump. Special Teams - Matt Smiley still has a job because the issue was not coaching buy execution. So the players fault not the coaches. Dorsey Fired - Early on, not Dorsey's fault. No matter how much people complained the narrative was "you want to fire the guy that has one of the top offenses in the league? Are you crazy?" The plays are clearly there it is the players are not executing (penalties, dropped passes, turnovers, etc). Then he is fired and it was an issue with the job he was doing all along. Brady is clearly better. Babich Hired - The main justification I have seen is how well safeties and linebackers performed when he was the position coach. So the coach gets the credit in this case for good performance. But players not doing well in other cases is all execution and not the coaches fault. Josh and the "low positive" thing - Initially sold as a positive. Josh needs to settle down. That is why we are giving him easy throws early on etc. Now the narrative post Dorsey is we need to let Josh be Josh and that is what Brady does. Ok so which is it, let Josh go superman or we need to settle him down.
  3. 13 seconds is embarrassing. Nothing like that may ever happen again in football. Complete failure and incompetence in a playoff game.
  4. Positive vibes only. The players have said reading these boards and all the negativity has caused them to lose confidence come playoff time hence the early exits.
  5. That was also mainly Ensminger's offense. Brady was only there one year and they did not completely redesign the playbook. They tweaked some things and Brady helped with the passing game and red zone offense. He definitely did not create the LSU offense.
  6. But the logic is always - the guys that were lower on the totem pole are always better than the guys on the top. Dorsey was better than Daboll. Brady is better than Dorsey. Babich is better than anyone else out there and assumed better than Frazier was. If we fired McD tomorrow and made Brady, Babich or whoever the head coach it would be celebrated as a great move and upgrade because they are up and comers and were clearly getting poached by another team so had to keep them.
  7. I think what it is for most people is the past few years we have been good but not good enough. This year there were a ton of penalties, mental lapses, etc that caused the team to lose close games. When you lose that way it often is related to coaching. At this level coaches are not really teaching x and o's anymore but more building culture, work habits, discipline, holding guys accountable, and a lot of the little stuff. That is what seems is missing in Buffalo. yet we continue to promote from within. Honestly none of us know if these guys are good or bad OC/DC's. I think many just want some fresh blood to fix things that guys in house have let get worse. Or just to shake things up a bit to get over the hump.
  8. But Ken Dorsey was hired by CLE so he no longer sucks but is a success story and example of all things amazing.
  9. Now all we need to do is resign all of our free agents so we can run it back next year.
  10. Not just 2023 draft. Look at 2021 and 2022. Brad Holmes has done an excellent job. In these three years they added: QB - Goff (Trade) RB - Gibbs (2023 Draft) RB - Montgomery (2023 Free Agent) WR - Williams (2022 Draft) WR - St Brown (2021 Draft) TE - LaPorta (2023 Draft) OL - Sewell (2021 Draft) DL - Hutchinson (2022 Draft) DL - McNeil (2021 Draft) LB - Campbell (2023 Draft) LB - Anzalone (2021 Free Agent) LB - Barnes (2021 Draft) DB - Branch (2023 Draft) DB - Joseph (2022 Draft) DB - Sutton (2023 Free Agent) Plus a bunch of other guys that see the field all brought in the past couple seasons.
  11. Dq is the hardest to replace. Aje and Floyd the next Davis is a ? It’s a lot of rec yards to replace.
  12. Another thing to look at is 2nd half stats. In nearly every game with Brady as OC the O struggled in the 2nd half. Like we saw in the KC playoff game, teams adjust and the Bills many times do not have an answer. I was glad Dorsey was let go. I do not think the stats justify Brady was the clear choice. I can buy Brady for more subjective reasons and things that did not show up in the stats column. But the numbers in no way support a Brady is clearly the guy decision.
  13. Josh Allen, Josh Allen, Josh Allen...but its not coaching its talent.
  14. Teams in Super Bowl last 5 years. Yes, we should be on this list. KC - Nothing needed to be said. Drafted Mahomes in 2017 and going to 4th Super Bowl since. SF - Going to second Super Bowl in 5 years (could be 4, lost two conf champs). Done it with multiple QB's. Did not have a winning season from 2014-2018. PHI - Went to Super Bowl with new coach after firing the coach that won a super bowl a few years before. Playing with 2nd year QB. LAR - Went to Super Bowl after changing QB's and just a few years removed from another super bowl appearance. CIN - Went to Super Bowl after 5 straight losing seasons. TB - Signed Tom Brady and went to Super Bowl. After 10+ years of no playoffs. One thing in common with most of these teams is change not continuity as one would expect. KC has been the most stable but has been consistent since drafting Mahomes despite some coaching staff changes and loss of key players. SF has changed QB's made significant trades, changed OC's and DC's. PHI made a head coaching change and significant player moves. LAR, CIN and TB all made significant players moves. You look at the Bills and its been a much more steady 5 years. Allen, Diggs, Hyde, Poyer, etc. The splashiest move was Miller and the in jury cut that short. Coaching changes have not been impactful - let frazier go and mcd runs show, daboll for dorsey.
  15. Does Brady get credit for McD defense not blowing leads? That was really the biggest difference. The numbers under Brady are not any better and never approached the Dorsey good game levels. I hope Brady proves me wrong but his O was inspiring. Allen became Cam Newton, which he always was capable of being. But I thought the goal was bigger that that? Allen won’t last long if that is the plan with him.
  16. Funny how having one of the highest run % plays is being celebrated. I have a feeling this won’t age well.
  17. Bills hire experienced coordinators - we have the best coordinators in the football. McD knows how to surround himself with excellent coaches. Bills have McD puppets as coordinators - we don’t need these awful retreads. They all suck. Our guys are up and comers and will all be head coaches in a few years.
  18. All about the cost. I would not spend $20M on this pair as they definitely are slowing.
  19. This is a Super Bowl contender. We have already tried the deserved a shot game with Dorsey.
  20. That is what we say about everyone. Yet Daboll is the only one finally did get a job.
  21. It is also funny that we act like Brady was not here for Dorsey's failures. He was part of it as QB coach. Get in some fresh blood. Keep Brady if you want to by giving him a pay bump and asst OC title, passing game coord, or something.
  22. Belichick will be firing him soon.
  23. Was just gonna post on this. Its funny what becomes truths. Cook had just one 100 yard game vs DAL with Brady. He averaged 3.4, 4.4, 2.8, 3.0 and 3.5 per carry in the last 5 games. His yards per carry were consistently higher with Dorsey and he had essentially 3 100 yard games. Oh, but Brady got him involved in the passing game...he had 38 total receiving yards in the last 5 games. The further they got away from Dorsey to Brady both his rushing and receiving numbers went down.
