  1. The Bills allow their logo to be used on fan sites bc it promotes their brand. It's organic advertising for them. They made that decision. Pinto Ron agreed to be filmed for the NBC spot. Does that mean that Pinto cars can take his face and slap it on their ads? Mark Miller agreed to be filmed for a sports show, that doesn't necessarily mean it's ok for a corporation to repurpose his face for their advertising purposes without his consent.
  2. I think the Bills spend hundreds of thousands of dollars a year advertising, maybe a few million. And they do one big 30 second commercial each year that they use to sell Tix and merch. That commercial used Mark Miller this year. Unless Mark Miller signed his rights to his likeness away at the time of the original taping, the Bills should license his likeness if they want to use it in advertising.
  3. So, if you got interviewed by a news channel about your favorite beer, and later on your face was on bill boards promoting that beer all across the country, you don't think you own the rights to your own image?
  4. The video itself does, but unless he signed his rights away, he still owns the rights to his likeness and voice. I also don't get the animosity here. The Bills are a billion dollar company and used the guy in a commercial to sell a couple million dollars worth of tickets.
  5. It depends, if he signed a release at the time of filming, that release likely granted the company rights to his image and voice in perpetuity. They would also likely have the right to license it. But a lot of news channels don't use releases for "news" bc their footage is covered under the first amendment ... If the company that originally filmed didn't use a release that granted them the rights to the footage and the rights to assign it, Mark has a case. No it's not. You can't use news footage without paying the company that filmed it. And it costs a pretty penny. But there's a difference between news footage and using a person's likeness and personality to sell in advertising.
  6. He's totally right. You can't use someone's voice and image in advertising without licensing those rights. He's going to get paid, and he should. That's how the world works.
  7. If I'm Dawson Knox, I'm spending the off season with one of those ball machines, taking 1000 reps a day. He has the potential to be special.
  8. Which leads me to believe it's a mental ) concentration thing rather than a "bad hands" thing. Guys with bad hands don't make those catches.
  9. People need to put the Blame Thrower down. Milano and the defense had a bad game bc the Patriots game plan was exceptional.
  10. Josh had a 102 QB rating against the Pats last night. He's getting better, in fact his QB ranking is 25% better than last year while only throwing 3 INT's in the last 11 games.
  11. I'm pretty sure they started fighting about whose fault the loss was and who needs to be fired...
  12. Totally, what reason is there to believe that the Front Office can strengthen the roster in an off season through draft and Free Agency? And you are so right, we know exactly what Josh Allen is, and there's no reason to believe that anyone at the QB position can change and grow... No evidence that can happen... Once a Wyoming QB always a Wyoming QB.
  13. So you don't think it's likely the Bills will improve as much next year as they did this year? We're in position to add talent through the draft and FA, ton of cap space. Are contributing rookies will have a whole off season of NFL strength and conditioning, Oliver, D Johnson, Songletary, Knox... And Josh will have an entire off season to build on his improvements this year. But no chance of being better next year, huh?
  14. Neither side of the ball was horrible. Both sides could have played better, and certain things, like the play calling on the back to back 3&outs drove me crazy, but they were in that game until the very last play.
  15. The game day experience is ruined for me in large part by the pervasive negative attitude I've described in this post. I'm calling out a type of fan behavior, exhibited on this forum, that I despise. It's the behavior that turns me off, in the context of where the Bills are and where there's good reason to think they are going. I wish there were 2 game day threads. One to talk about what the Bills need to do to win, and one for posters to talk about who needs to be blamed and fired... I'd always post in the solution focused thread. But clicking through page after page of raw hatred just makes me want to leave and stop communicating on the forum with fellow Bills fans.
  16. It's clear to me that the process McD preaches has several stages. He has achieved a major step, establishing a culture and roster that is playoff caliber. In 2 of his first 3 years the Bills are in the playoffs. After last year's 6-10 season, it would be extremely unrealistic for fans to expect or demand a "championship caliber team" this year. And yet, playing the top 2 teams in the AFC late in the season (Ravens and Pats) the Bills were within one score and had the ball in scoring position late in both games. There are clear improvements the team needs to make to move from playoff caliber to championship caliber, and the fact that those needs are clear is an amazing accomplishment! I am so encouraged that the next 3-5 years of Bills football is going to put the team in position to compete for the Super Bowl. At the same time, the number of delusional fans that expect the team to be championship caliber this year, and call for the firing of McD, or Daboll or Allen, well. In my opinion, you all deserve another 20 years of musical chairs at head coach and qb, and another 2 decade playoff drought... Maybe you can buy a billboard that calls for Josh Allen to be cut if it makes you feel like you have power? As for me, I'm looking forward to talking about ways to improve, to talk about what the Bills can do to make that transition from playoff caliber to championship caliber. But I don't have the need to have a public crucifixion after a Bills loss, to call for blood to satisfy my inability to accept disappointment... I'm looking forward to the playoffs, and I'm excited to see what adjustments the coaching staff makes to get better themselves. But I'm not expecting a championship this year, and that's ok. Because the Bills aren't championship caliber yet. And that's ok.
  17. Let us know when Pegs taps you to make roster moves!
  18. Josh needs to improve his game when we get across the opponents 50. We give up way too many fg opportunities. Need to capitalize better.
