Marijuana to treat CTE in NFL players

The trick with heroin is not sharing needles. That way you'll be up spin Ally without any disease. (Other than crippling addiction) -
Are great quarterbacks worth the money?
Bing Bong replied to jaybee's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Dude.. he doesn't find the internet reliable. He said it himself. Those hyperlinks are just underlined blue text on a computer screen. But yeah, Brees, Rodgers, and Ryan.. duh they're worth it. Jimmy G was all the 49ers fault, Cousins well.. it's a relatively short term deal on a win now team, I'd expect them to rebound but of course the marquis FA QB of any year is going to be grossly overpaid. He ain't horrible but no where near top 5 salary good. -

Bing Bong replied to Virgil's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
yes because other quarterbacks do it and you do not want to be one dimensional. I don't think he necessarily needs a pass catching runningback either but the man better adapt because those are easy chunks of yards when the team is playing spy and shutting down the vertical passing and daring him to dump off. Any time you limit your quarterback play, he'll be dared to do what he can't. We can't just eliminate screen plays and dump offs from the playbook. He becomes so much more dangerous with his ability to make broken plays, threat to run.. add in a Russel Wilson or Big Ben ability to fake the run for a dump off and he has a whole nother weapon. Many quarterbacks can stretch the field with vertical passing while also checking down.. it's their job to be able to make all the throws. -

That's a good point but at some stage, Allen has to make that a strong suit regardless, especially given how good he is with broken plays. He's not going to maximize his talent if he can't use Shady and Bell RBs like he should. Every quarterback should be able to benefit from a teammates' skill set. -
McBeane will build a Wr Core of 2s & 3s.

Oof I looked up the WRs in that draft and it was hard to miss! Draft 2 guys if you really want to make an effort at that position. JuJu, Cooper Kupp, Kenny Golladay, DeDe Westbrook (I'm a fan), and our boy Isaiah McKenzie. Golladay's going to be a stud. -
Honestly when do we need to save cap for re-signing our talent? Feels like it won't be for like 3 years we re-sign a great pickup for big money. Whichever of White, Poyer, Hyde, or Milano's contracts come up I guess. I don't love the idea of having a ton of cap strictly for FAs for 3 years. FAs are much less valuable than a solid re-sign from a good draft IMO. Makes me wonder if Watkins and Goodwin were a possibility to re-sign.. whatever faults they may have had they'd make a huge difference on building this team. Seems much better to stagger your contracts like that

We need to poach Steelers WR scouts. Best WR drafting in NFL history.. idk if that's even hyperbole. The GM said he has a really simple approach to evaluate WRs in college for pros. WR is one if the few positions where what you see is what you get in the NFL. None of this risky high reward type commodities Beane and Panthers have been all about getting big lugs hoping it's Megatron. just draft guys you see with NFL route running, catching, aggression, speed, size that's USED to advantage.. all that jazz. Those skills translate directly to NFL like few other positions. So find a guy you like and draft 1 every year rounds 3-7 and you get Sanders, Wallace, Brown, and JuJu in a span of 7 years. Nervous about blowing draft and cap capital on WRs since these guys seem so poor with it. I'd argue don't invest too heavily in that since I'm much more confident they know defense and OL better than WR. And if ya do want to break the bank on a WR Beane. Poach a better WR talent evaluator. Preferably from the Steelers NOT PANTHERS. This dude signed Philly Brown! So I agree with OP's idea about getting lower tier high depth guys in draft that can pan out. More because of McBeane's incompetence so far than it being a master strategy to building a team lol. -

I hope we can all recognize Beane is very poor at evaluating WRs which is an issue. Matter of fact the Panthers have been when Beane was they're too. They're best WR is a runningback lol. 2 teams with similar Quarterback accuracy issues with mediocre or straight up bad WRs. Cam threw Steve Smith St for 1400 yards. Inaccuracy is mitigated when your WR is such a dog and gets open. You don't need big*** receivers with supposed catch radius' to catch Cam or JA's balls like Funchess or Kelvin. Need speedsters like Foster that just get consistently open -

Point is when a WR turns on the jets they take over games and can be the different. Plax was paid like and treated as a number 1, and his Packers performance alone helped the Giants advance in 2007. I'm not talking about Plax's career.. in 2007 he was the exact number 1 tyoe WR OP is talking about. I'm talking about how each team built a SB winning team with a top WR (like the Giants and Plax) and at some point in the playoffs or SB they were the difference maker. Wilson and Brady make exceptional use of spreading the ball around to everyone. Most other quarterbacks are mortal and need their guy (or 2). I'm fine with the way the Eagles approached WRs and if that's the mMcD way.. we just saw it work. I don't think the top WR route hurts either. This is more on another subject, but it IMO it largely depends on how your quarterback tends to use his WRs. Foles' bombs to Jeffrey are clinical and much more dangerous than Wentz can be. Not that Foles is a better quarterback, but Jeffrey makes it so for Foles and not Wentz. We need to see what Allen does best with IMO. Of course we have to test out this WR by committee theory to see if Allen spreads it around (I think he likes having 2 reliable targets and money spent on having too much depth goes to waste). -

He was a #1 in the playoffs. Just look at the 2007 Packers game where he ate Charles Woodsons' lunch. My point being without him, the Giants wouldn't have advanced. They needed a great talent (who was very inconsistent and will probably not go down as a #1 teams coveted.. for sure). And all the others you mentioned. Regardless, I don't want to hear "look at OBJ, Green, Jones, Calvin Johnson, Brown, etc etc they haven't won a title!" My whole point being you can say that about any position. "look at Marino, Kelly, Fouts, and McNair.. no titles, don't need good quarterbacks" "look at JJ Watt, Khalil Mack, Aaron Donald, and Mario Williams.. no titles, don't need great DL" doesn't make sense. We just need great talent in many places and our elite guys somewhere. For every great WR that didn't win the big one, there are tons that were a big reason a team did. I'm fine with 2 1a and 1b WR depth chart types. I think this way to build a roster is fine.. I think getting an elite WR would be gravy too. Regardless they need to be good. I don't care how many superbowls AJ Green hasn't won. That has literally no point to this. -
That was tongue in cheek above, as I'm sure you caught. I said I'd defer to better football minds if Star is doing anything because I really can't tell otherwise. Unless he looks like the greats at the position Vince Wilfork or Ted Washington or Pat Williams where they look like hog monsters. My apprehension is we apparently signed DL intended for high usage for a lot of money when the Panthers didn't feel that way at all marginalizing his snaps more and more. was rotated in for 40% IIRC when last playing for the Panthers.

If you told me a few weeks ago we had a WR aggressive enough to get his hands on that 4th down pass for an almost catch and we'd be *****ing about it looking like a drop.. I'd wouldn't believe it and be over the moon. Dude has a place on this roster for sure as our current best WR. Probably shouldn't be our best WR but I'm happy we at least have one guy I like to keep at the position going forward. Throw that pass to Holmes and we wouldn't even have registered if a WR is capable of getting hands on that vs Gilmore and wouldn't even call it a drop.

We need a Khalil Mack. That dude changed the team more than anyone. -
Cut McCoy, Sign Bell (edited from McCoy out 6.4M cap)
Bing Bong replied to RPbillsfan's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I like Coleman much more.. at least he's done something to merit competition and split carries with Freeman. Yeldon was a high 1st that was quickly phased out with Fournette drafted (to be the bellcow) like.. 2 years later. They obviously didn't like what they saw in practice whereas the Falcons must have saw a ton in Coleman to merit taking touches away from Freeman after the monster seasons he was having. I like Bell most of all if it's short term. I don't see what we'll do if we don't spend a ton on FAs.. certainly don't want it sitting doing nothing so long as we don't tie up contracts too long that preclude us from re-signing White, Poyer, Hyde, Milano. -
true. But they REALLY should go offense if there's any non QB BPA anyway. Sounds like the media would be right in that situation lol. What the GM and Coach need to be asking themselves is "who the hell is Mel Kiper?!".. but draft better than Bill Tobin did.. since Kiper was probably right in that instance. getchaself the best FA to hit the market in years. Fresh 27 year old Le'Veon Bell. Get a Karlos Williams type in the 5th.

Bing Bong replied to Virgil's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Gimme Gimme Gimme Bell. Dude can play football.. anywhere on the field. Great for JA. Doesn't need a juggernaut OL. Blocks, catches, finesse, power. We got money to spend and as you listed 7 FA's to sign with tons still to spare, none are proven All-Pros except Bell. All for putting in a high bid for a short term deal. Immediately kickstarts our offense and hides a lot of problems. Between him and JA, they'd make the offense look competent overnight. And the Steelers look like absolute morons for how they've handled this season (everything. Not just Bell). Easy meltdown to see coming early on between Ben and Tomlin.. Acting as if James Connor can't get hurt. Don't see a character issue wanting to get out of that nightmare. Can totally see him going to the Colts. Fits like a glove there. -

Not saying you need true #1s but this argument is silly. Barring Seahawks and Patriots SBs, plenty of star WRs won or were a big contribution to at least getting there. You can point to any position group and name the best players that haven't won. Julio Jones, Demarious Thomas, Anquan Boldin, Fitzgerald, Plaxico Burress, Alshon Jeffrey etc all had a huge impact. Arguably none of those teams would have won without those guys (Plax v Packers carried the Giants to the SB, Fitz like broke the record for WR yards in a playoff run.. he was Warner's sole offense, Bolding bailed out Flacco on many close games, Jeffrey is the king of catching Nick Foles bombs.. without him Foles doesn't have the games he had) Brown has won a title btw but I get your point he wasn't a #1. Those Steelers just had 4 #1s on the roster. I don't care how we assemble the corps I just want to get great WRs. If it's more a committee type like we see in Philly with Jeffrey and Agholor then sure.. call them #2s or 1a and 1b. you still need them to be GOOD. I'm fine with getting Foster legit competition and seeing how he stacks up. He's like a young Agholor right now and we can get a Jeffrey type to compliment him and challenge him. So I agree to your point we don't need a do-it-all high priced #1. But it's not bad thing to go after that whatsoever. Maybe we don't need to go for an incumbent vet, but grab a lot of youth and see what sticks. We need someone opposite of Foster that's just as good if not better, and I'll be happy. That's 2 #2s if that's what you're vouching for, but I don't see the point other than we need more talent and more depth simultaneously. Talented WRs are not a bad thing whatsoever. -

EJ Manuel: What went wrong after year 1?

I wouldn't say there aren't exceptions. of course a QB needs his feet wet before killing his WRs but i recall Kurt Warner getting some bad rep in Arizona. He had Boldin killed several times. -

Nobody's trying to cure CTE. You don't need to know what exactly something is when you know the symptoms and benign drugs that treat them. -

Uh yeah we need to go offense for the mere fact that games are bearable to watch and Bills aren't the joke of the league through the first half of the season. We were so bad this year I forget.. when every team's in the playoff hunt weeks 1-5 it puts a spotlight on the real dog**** teams until we can disappear into obscurity with the rest of the teams out of playoff contention
