Looks to me like it meets the spirit of the crackback block rule although not the literal definition. Article 6. Crackback Block Item 1. Definition. It is an illegal crackback block if the following conditions are fulfilled: The block occurs within an area five yards on either side of the line of scrimmage, including within close-line play, by an offensive player who is moving toward the position from which the ball was snapped; and (a) the offensive player was in a set position and aligned more than two yards outside an offensive tackle (flexed) when the ball was snapped; (b)the offensive player was in a backfield position when the ball was snapped and moved to a position more than two yards outside an offensive tackle; or (c)the offensive player was in a backfield position and in motion when the ball was snapped. Dawkins clearly meets the first part of the rule, but doesn't quite meet part A or B. Maybe you could argue for part B with how far back tackles are allowed to lineup nowadays haha

I'm firmly in the 'let him walk for a comp pick' camp. The week Cook was injured (1st Jets game) we didn't miss a beat with Davis as RB1. 20 carries for 97 yards and 3 catches for 55 yards. Now, if he wants to sign for a hefty discount (let's say 6mm per) I'd be fine keeping him. Not sure he'd want to sign for that little though

If he wanted this incentive maybe he shouldn't have choked out his pregnant fiancee and gotten himself suspended for 4 games

The draft is a crapshoot anyway. The 2022 Texans won their meaningless week 18 game 32-31 after converting a 4th and 20 for a TD with <1 minute left and succeeded on a 2 point conversion. That cost them the #1 overall pick. They ended up with CJ Stroud at #2 instead of Bryce Young at #1...

I'm not concerned about any potential team we could see in the wild card round other than the Bengals (and there's almost no chance they make the playoffs). I just can't see us losing to any of the Colts/Dolphins/Steelers/Chargers/Broncos. Any given Sunday and all that, but I'd say we have a 75-90% chance to beat any of those teams. Bengals would be a coin flip even with their DEF looking like trash The Ravens are terrifying. Their offense has been good to great for pretty much the whole season. Their run DEF has been #1 the whole year. Their pass DEF was trash for the first half of the season, but they've really turned a corner in the last ~6 weeks or so. The only thing against them is the history of Lamar choking in the playoffs. The Chiefs are the modern day dynasty even though they have a ton of lucky wins this season. Their DEF looks great and their offense has been a lot better the 2nd half of the season. I think we'd have a 40-45% chance of beating either the Ravens or the Chiefs. Our DEF has looked awful down the stretch, and we've had 4 straight seasons of the DEF pooping the bed in the playoffs.

Bills Patriots 12/17/2000 35 degrees, rainy, and high winds. Once that rain soaks through your layers you're done. The wind made it unbearable. Vinateri missed a 27 yard FG at the end of regulation. Christie missed a 30 yard FG in OT. We left after that missed kick and the stadium must've been about 10% full by then.

Elam was in classic DPI positioning for the 2nd call (didn't even attempt to turn his head and was between the WR and the throw). However, it was a terrible throw and I don't think their was enough contact by Elam on the WR to say that Elam materially restricted the WR chance to catch the ball. The WR jumps as he's moving towards the back of the endzone and his own momentum is taking him away from the ball. Elam barely contacts him. If the WR had stopped and jumped towards the ball (into Elam) then it's 100% a DPI.

The odds are gonna shift a little, but it's still overwhelming for Josh to win it. Too bad that arm punt counts as an INT. The drops by Shakir and Cooper hurt too.

Sure there are some non-starters on there, but trying to downplay the extent of their injuries is crazy. Hutchinson had 7.5 sacks in 5 games. If he was the only Lion on IR it would still be a significant loss. McNeill and Davenport are other significant losses on their D-Line. Anzalone, Barnes, Rodriguez, and Reeves-Maybin are 4 of their top 5 LBs. Cominsky, Melifonwu, and Davis were starters or valuable depth. Decimated is the only way to describe that defense.

It's funny, all the way back in week 2 we had that ridiculous Bears vs Texans game. The Kickers in that game combined to go 5/5 on 50+ yard kicks. I think league wide there had only been 1 missed kick of 50+ through the first 2 weeks. Kickers really fell off a cliff after that. I feel like there's been more blocked kicks than normal too, but I have no stats to back that up

I think the top 4 are in their own tier and pretty interchangeable. Bills, Lions, Eagles, and Chiefs. Obviously we're the only team with victories over the Chiefs and Lions, but we do have the most losses. Now, if someone were to rank us outside the top 4 I'd have some fighting words for them. But I won't be upset at being ranked #4

Dan Quinn is up there too. Turning around a terrible franchise in year 1, with a rookie QB, and making the playoffs (not clinched yet I guess, but looking good). The award is all about which team exceeds preseason expectations the most. It's why McD and Reid will likely never win it in BUF or KC. When you have a top 3 QB the expectation is to be one of the best teams in the league

I couldn't find the record for most total TDs in a calendar month. For passing TDs only the record is Tom Brady with 20 in October 2007 in 5 games played. Peyton Manning had 19 passing TDs in November 2004 in only 4 games played.

To go on a bit of a tangent.... why didn't we use our timeouts prior to the 2 minute warning on the Rams last TD drive? Had we used our 3 timeouts on the 3 plays after the 4th down conversion we get the ball back with ~3:30 left and still have the 2 minute warning stoppage

We hired someone to advise McD on coaches challenges, and we still suck at those. I don't think a clock specialist would be useful. A Head Coach has a LOT going on between plays, are they supposed to delay the entire process waiting to hear from the clock specialist if they should use a timeout or not? Is the clock specialist going to chime in and say whether or not we can run the ball? No passes unless it's guaranteed the receiver can get out of bounds? Logistically I just don't see the value there.

I know when you're down by 14 in the 4th Q and you score a TD the math says to go for 2. If you convert the 2 pt you can now win the game with a stop and another TD with a PAT. If you don't convert you can still tie the game with another TD and 2 pt conversion. That math doesn't really work out when you're down by 17. Requiring multiple 2 pt conversions in a row to gain an advantage is not a sound strategy. If we're talking aggressive coaching tactics, why didn't we go for it on 4th and 2 from our 41 with 1 minute left in the 1st half?

I don't think anyone has mentioned him by name yet, but AJE was laughably bad. He gave up multiple TDs where he was unblocked and bit on action while the Rams ran straight by him.

Is it more likely that we recover an onside kick? Or that our DEF, with how they had played that game, force a 3 and out (or turnover)? Personally I'll take the 3% chance at an onside kick.

Refs had such a ridiculous standard for DPI in this game. Multiple garbage calls against the Bills. Then they pick up the DPI flag on the deep ball to Cooper where the DB had a fistful of jersey for 5+ yards. The late DPI on Rams in the endzone was garbage as well.

Full disclosure: I wanted McD fired after the 13 seconds game. I really don't think the timeout today was a problem. Under no circumstances should we have been kicking the ball off deep with <1 minute to play and rely on our DEF to force a 3 and out. The DEF that allowed 38 points and forced 1 punt the entire game. I'll take my chances with the on-side kick and using the timeout immediately gives the offense more time if we did miraculously recover the kick.

Aren't we all football nerds? We spend our spare time posting on a message board 😂 And yes, I do bring up that OJ was the only 2k rushing season in a 14 game season. Barkley deserves an asterisk if he squeaks by Dickerson's record with the extra 17th game this season.
