  1. Josh Allen's cap hit is going from 16mm this year to 40mm next year. There are going to be cap casualties. I appreciate that Edmunds has stepped up his game this season (so far) but I just don't see it working out cap wise next year. You can always play cap shenanigans, but I don't think it's wise to do so for him. The only way I can see keeping him if he signs at a large discount and exceptionally cap friendly deal.
  2. I can certainly agree that McDermott has improved on 4th down decisions, but I find the 100% difficult to believe. I thought he got the decision wrong a few times in the Titans game. We really should've gone for it on both of these plays: 4th & 1 at TEN 26 (7:25 - 2nd) (Shotgun) PENALTY on BUF-G.Van Roten, False Start, 5 yards, enforced at TEN 26 - No Play. 4th & 1 at TEN 47 (8:33 - 3rd) (Shotgun) PENALTY on BUF, Delay of Game, 5 yards, enforced at TEN 47 - No Play. McD had us line up and try to get the Titans to jump. When that didn't work we took a penalty instead to lead to a 4th and 6. I'm guessing this model ignores these plays due to the penalties.
  3. 2 - As others have mentioned, Campbell deflected the throw at the line. Knox then reacted poorly to the fluttering ball (the body language kinda looked like he gave up on the play, but I'm thinking that was just his best reaction to the tip). Baltimore's challenge - I thought Jackson probably had it, but there's no definitive angle so they didn't overturn it. Refs almost always give a runner the first down when they stretch the ball out like that so I was quite surprised by the initial spot. 5 - Totally agree that the officiating was a shitshow. The refs ended up calling 2 holding penalties on the Ravens, but it should've been about 10. At least 5 offensive plays with a blatant uncalled hold. I thought the Ravens OPI call was actually a makeup for some of the missed calls
  4. I think it's fair to be worried, but not fair to label him a bust yet. Drafting O-Line in that spot would've been significantly wiser
  5. What an odd take. Almost every NFL ref has (or had) a regular career job. Boger has been an NFL referee since 2004 and has decades of officiating experience prior to that (and was himself a college QB back in the 70s). If you're looking for a ref with experience there aren't many people out there with more than Boger.
  6. John Fox, as Head Coach of the Broncos with Peyton Manning went 13-3, 13-3, and 12-4 in the regular season and 2-3 in the playoffs (1 SB appearance). He was fired after the 12-4 season. I don't think McD will be fired for not making the SB, but he'll be on the hot seat. Expectations are a hell of a drug and the expectation for this Bills roster is Superbowl.

  8. I keep getting flashbacks to Mike Tolbert up the middle for no gain
  9. I'll agree Singletary is a JAG, but Moss isn't even a JAG. He's well below replacement level and very well may be the worst RB in the league relative to how many touches he gets.
  10. The only way I could justify it is if we had 12 men on the field and wanted to avoid a penalty, or they had an uncovered gunner that they could throw too. The broadcast was worthless though so I have no idea. Brutally bad timeout
  11. Has anyone mentioned taking a timeout on the Dolphins 1st punt? Wasting that timeout blew our chance at a FG at the end of the 1st half.
  12. Truthfully, I had the opposite take on his 4th down decisions last night. You have a human cheat code at QB operating one of the best offenses in the league. If you have a 4th and 1 on the opponents side of the field you should almost always be trying to convert it. It shouldn't require the QB to wave at the sidelines to convince the head coach of that. Why are we bothering with these shenanigans trying to draw the opponent offside? It's backfired on us a number of times. Including our failed 4th and 1 attempt where Shakir didn't react after the ball was snapped. It looked like the offense wasn't ready to run a play (presumably b/c McDermott didn't want them to run a play - just try to get Titans to jump). This also happened in the Steelers game last year.
  13. I thought Edmunds was fine in week 1 (did his job but didn't make impact plays). Last night is on a pretty short list for best game of his career.
  14. Pretty much this. Bit of a segue on #5 that our run game was atrocious. We padded the stats in garbage time, but I believe midway through the 3rd we had 16 yards rushing on 8 rushing plays by our RBs (JA had a legendary 10 yard scramble in the 1st). Singletary started the game with a 16 yard run, then our next 7 rushing attempts amounted to 0 yards.
  15. Don't most teams have a dedicated person to watch all broadcasts/replays to determine when to challenge? It's an embarrassment if our process is to rely on our head coach to watch an in-stadium replay on a jumbotron. What if we're on the road and they deliberately don't show a replay on a big play that would be overturned? I'm hoping McDermott was using it as an extended timeout....which is still pretty lame (defensive timeout that the offense converts anyway).
  16. The Titans have beaten us 2 years in a row. I think the team channels that into a proper beatdown (and JA controls his emotions in home opener unlike PITT season opener last year) Bills 40 Titans 21
  17. If memory serves didn't this happen right before the playoff game last year? Some (hopeful) speculation from Bills fans he would've been suspended for that game. Kinda random they are suspending him for weeks 3-6
  18. I'd suggest reading what's allowed/not allowed on the Bills website https://www.buffalobills.com/stadium/gate-entry-and-permitted-items TLDR - you can put pretty much any type of food inside a gallon zip loc bag and bring it in
  19. Strictly speaking we used the Chiefs 2018 pick from the Mahomes trade to move up to select Edmunds (we used our own 1st rd pick to move up for Allen)
  20. The Rams were flipping between running the clock out and actively going hurry-up to try and score. I have no problems with McD using timeouts there. The issue I had with timeouts was not using them at the end of the first half. McD should've used them and forced the Rams to decide if they wanted to risk missing a very long FG with enough time on the clock for the Bills to run a play or two and kick a FG of their own. Letting the clock tick down to 4 seconds was a tactical mistake.
  21. Do they? I think it's inexcusable to have Moss out-touch Singletary last night. Riding the hot hand is not a complicated philosophy, but it seems to elude McDermott.
  22. You don't remember the phantom holding call on Mitch Morse that wiped out a 1st down conversion by Josh? One of the worst calls I've ever seen. I'm trying to find a clip of it online, but the NFL does a great job of scrubbing stuff like that out. The very next play the refs called a weak RTP on the Chiefs when Allen threw an INT. Edit- found a link https://wbuf.com/bills-fans-not-happy-this-penalty-is-taking-spotlight-away-from-huge-win-tweets/?fbclid=IwAR3--oHjPLkD5P2sCgST98_UJtYWC-No640nyJ8JvNi_zfgmxV7ql3yG3bI
  23. I think we're all going to have rose colored glasses when it comes to Josh, but I don't think he's known for sliding/fake outs. Although he has gotten better at drawing roughing calls. I've noticed he'll sometimes not brace for hits from defenders and allow himself to be jostled by hits that really aren't that bad. He's drawn a few borderline flags by doing that. Thinking of plays like this one (even though the refs picked the flag up)
