Positions that could be added to after final cuts
Gray Beard replied to jumbalaya's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Is Wenning still eligible for the practice squad? Is it possible that Wenning isn't terrible on Thursday? If so, I have a plan. Cut Yates and Wenning after Thursday. Re-sign Wenning to the practice squad. Go with TT as the #1 and Peterman as the #2 into the season. Of course, if Wenning stinks it up on Thursday, then never mind. -
Youse guys even suck at sucking
Gray Beard replied to Jimmy Spagnola's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I don't know how, but Spags just summed up our situation better than all the "experts" who usually post their enlightened outlook on the Bills. -
Hughes gives a good interview, especially when he is apologizing for making stupid penalties.

Remember Kamar Aiken? UDFA 2011. Great in practice, great in pre-season games, then cut. Went on to be a serviceable receiver with the Ravens, now with the Colts. Woulda, Coulda, Shoulda.

Clay's knee becomes worse. He goes on IR then gets an injury settlement.

Myth - the Bills know how to play in the snow. This may have been true decades ago, but not recently.

I don't understand the negativity on here. I think the article supports a belief that many on here have had for a while. Winning begets winning. Winning causes an upbeat attitude. Winning causes buy-in from all the players. Winning creates camaraderie. It seems obvious, but they are valid observations.

Who's the guy who likes to say "correlation does not imply causation"? Somebody on here loves to say that. I've been waiting.

Do all Bills fans hate Gronk?
Gray Beard replied to Another Fan's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Gronk is great, but there are two things that are Gronk related that get me angry... 1) Why didn't the Bills draft him? (I know he had injury concerns, but the Bills have drafted several other players with worse injuries) 2) Why can't the Bills defend him? (It's not like it's a surprise that he is there and he will burn you several times each game) -
Who else is all in on this new way of doing things?

I'm optimistic about what I've seen from Coach McD... Discipline Energy Hard Working Details Matter Can't wait so see how things look after a few games. -
Obligatory Color Commentator Comments
Gray Beard replied to Yoho's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
George Wilson was a wide receiver who moved to safety a few years ago. Jason Peters was a tackle that was drafted as a tight end. Bryan Scott was a strong safety who moved to linebacker. It seems like when a player makes a significant position change, it gets mentioned often by the announcers. -
Shady McCoy: "Buffalo is Like Home to Me"
Gray Beard replied to 26CornerBlitz's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Considering how miserable he was when he found out he was traded to Buffalo, I think any positive comment is good news. If he isn't still depressed about being here, maybe he will continue to play as hard as he can. Sounds good to me! -
Ryan Fitzpatrick Signing with the Bucs
Gray Beard replied to 26CornerBlitz's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Fitz is good for about four games per season. Any more than that and his weak arm combined with his daredevil attitude make him a turnover machine. Sounds like a good backup to me. -

17 members of Bills scouting staff fired.

I feel that the Rex clown show is responsible for many of the events today. -
Post Your Schedule Complaints Here
Gray Beard replied to RevWarRifleman's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
With this schedule, the Bills can be poor to mediocre for the first 3/4 of the season, and the die hards will be able to hold onto some hope that perhaps the last 4 or 5 games can salvage the season. It practically guarantees that the Bills will be relevant in December, since they probably won't be mathematically eliminated before Thanksgiving with all those AFC East games stacked at the end. Of course, they could turn out to be good this year and will be relevant in December on their own merit. -
Draft the Person first, not the player!
Gray Beard replied to CEN-CAL17's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I want a team full of high motor, lunch pail guys! But seriously, there is something to be said for drafting guys with high football IQs. That is obvious for a QB, but at every position the ability to understand what is happening and react to it instinctively is important. I guy can have all the metrics of size, speed and strength, but if there isn't anything between the ears then that guy isn't going to reach his potential in the NFL. EJ had all the metrics, but the game never "slowed down" for him. I also believe The Hoodie is an expert at recognizing the mental ability of his players and he places a high value on their ability to learn and play within the system. -
ESPN removes Sage Steele from NBA Countdown

I used to think Michelle Beadle was cute and funny. Now her routine seems to be worn out and she just mails it in. -
anybody not on board drafting QB at 10 is a *****
Gray Beard replied to 17 Josh Allen's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I think ***** stands for brain. And I thank you for the complement. -
I think guys like Manuel, Whitner, and Spiller are not the type that I would call bad picks. They were picked too high, but they mostly had good attitudes, they mostly tried pretty hard, and the team got some value out of them. Guys like Mike Williams and Erik Flowers on the other hand, never seemed like they even tried to live up to expectations. Those are they guys I would call bad picks.

Tom Brady-The Greatest of His Era, Not All-Time
Gray Beard replied to a topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Am I the only one who remembers that a QB used to call his own plays? The idea that the QB in the modern era has to wait until he gets the play called in on his helmet radio takes an important aspect of the game away from his responsibility. Players like Jack Kemp, John Unitas, etc. used to have to be a "coach on the field" to make things work. Brady is a smart guy and a film study geek so he could probably do it, but he doesn't. -
Robey-Coleman, Dan Carpenter, Garrison Sanborn cut
Gray Beard replied to YoloinOhio's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
i have noticed that last year he didn't make many (any?) tackles on punt coverage. I suppose that is a sign of decline. I guess I'm just surprised they didn't have a competition at training camp. Maybe cutting him early lets him try to latch on with another team. -
Robey-Coleman, Dan Carpenter, Garrison Sanborn cut
Gray Beard replied to YoloinOhio's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I honestly can't figure out why they cut the long-snapper. He can't have been that expensive. He was reliable. He made a few tackles on punt coverage. Now there is one more position to worry about filling. Was he over-paid? Did he ask to be released? I must be missing something. -
But can he jump out of a pool?
