Concern about the GM's Experience
Dadonkadonk replied to Bob in STL's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Year two and the team is worse. More talent has left the team via FA, trade, retirement, than McBeane has added via draft, trade, and FA. Yes they have lots of cap room next year. But cap space was never the problem. They let Gilmore walk and blew the comp pick on garbage players that could have been replaced with any street FA. They traded Watkins and Dareus for lesser talents and pissed away the picks moving up in the draft. I didn't like Darby but it appears he is a starting DB in this league and Mathews was awful. If Allen is legit then this year will be worth it. But there are a lot of pieces that need to be added to fix this team. And trading away talent for lottery picks and then giving up those picks to move up in the draft is not going to get it done. -
As bad as they looked today, the Bills will win next week. Chargers are not that good. Bosa will not be 100% if he even plays. West coast team playing early game on the East coast. Take it to the bank. Allen will start and be ok. Shady will have a monster game as will Clay/Croom. Bills win 24-13

I posted that in the first half thread. Just play the tape of Peterman to the jury and Kaep walks away with millions from the NFL

Maybe McD just got lucky with Hyde and Poyer. Because every other personnel decision he has made sucks. -

What? Watch the replay. Throw was terrible. KB was wide open and OL gave Peterman a perfect pocket to step up and make throw. That was all on JV arm. Peterman cant play at this level. -

You realize the dead cap is because Beane traded away one of best players on defense and offense? -

Should have been a pick 6 by White -
Will Watson regress or maintain his high level of performance? 61.8% comp percentage and over 2:1 TD:INT ratio is one hell of a start. That will be one of the great story lines of 2018 Generally agree but hard to call either a vet.

Careful this board does not like people to point out the top 10 scoring offense that TT, Shady, and an oft injured Watkins managed. Their is a large contingent that think passing yards is more important than turnovers. Rex destroyed a top 5 defense but built a top 10 offense. I don't entirely dismiss the notion of passing yards. I can not defend TT and the offenses of the past with respect to the ability to come from behind or generate points in a hurry. The offense also had too many 3 and outs. But an INT a game or worse is much more difficult to overcome than a number of three and outs. But hey, let's hope I'm wrong and Peterman takes care of the ball and makes quick decisions. I can't see Allen thriving behind this o-line.
-
I assume you are perfectly ok with a team cutting a player with three years left on their contract? Players have every right to hold out until the contracts arw fully guaranteed. One injury can coat them tens of millions of dollars. Most only get one chance to truly cash in. And the Bills were paying below market value for a premier LT. All they had to do was pay him. This notion of you can't set precedent is nonsense. If you are an elite talent you get treated as such. If you are an average player you have no leverage because just about any draft pick can replace you.
-
Well said reasonable post. With this O-line quick decisions and size trump scrambling ability. Even TT couldn't escape the rush that this o-line will give up. Need a quick decision maker with enough size to see the entire field and stay in the pocket and deliver throws downfield. That guy will be Allen by game 5 if not sooner.

Did you watch the Chargers game? Did you see the dropped pick six in third preseason game against second string DB? How many INTs do you think this team can withstand and still win?
-
They added a DB on waivers and swapped punters and are at 53. My guess is Levi Wallace is on the 53 man roster by end of Sept. And judging by last year, I suspect players 48-53 will be changed out over the next 8 weeks

Pre Season's Over, Post Your W/L Prediction
Dadonkadonk replied to RevWarRifleman's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Sadly, 6-10. I really thought Groy would be fine at C and Miller would play well in a new scheme. So far the line looks worse than the linebackers. But it is still preseason and as has been pointed out we should take a wait and see approach. If they win at Baltimore and at home against the Chargers, then I reserve the right to change my prediction to 9-7 -
AJ gone and no vet QB, are your expectations lower?
Dadonkadonk replied to stuvian's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
No. It just means Allen is developing fast enough they feel comfortable going ahead with just two QBs. If he was lost or Nate looked worse, AJ would still be on this team.
