  1. Lurker, if you knew me you would know that I am very relaxed. I understand what you are saying but a team that lives by the blitz will also die by it. The players should still be able to play in a base defense. I saw many holes for the Carolina RB's. I saw many receivers running wide open. If your not blitzing then you should have more people in coverage, where were they? But most of all I saw a lot of missed tackles both in the first half as well as the second. I don't care what kind of D you are running they should not be missing tackles.
  2. My feelings as well, which confused me because all the talk so far has been about how great our defense is going to be.
  3. I think that this is an excellent assessment. I agree. I came away knowing that we are not the 2 or 3 win team some of the so called experts having been stating we are. The Bills will be able to compete. I think the first 2 units showed discipline and competence and were well prepared. I hated watching the second half and wonder about our depth at many positions. Like others have said I would love to see Josh Allen play with more competent players. It didn't seem he was put in a position to show his true ability. Basically I don't think he was put in a postion to succeed like Nate and AJ were.
  4. Badlands, I love your posts, they always make me laugh. However some people take all this crap so seriously that they can't see sarcasm even as it pokes them in the eye. You keep up the good fight though.
  5. Royal, it's amazing that you mention your father losing his taste, that has also happened to me. I was diagnosed 9 years ago with a lymphoma called CLL and at first we were ablt to just watch and wait but then 3.5 years ago I was lucky enough to get on a drug called Ibrutinib and I'm still here today and have not needed chemo however the drug took a good portion of my tast away and actually enhanced the acidic taste. I haven't been able to drik coffee since I started on the drug. Plus other foods I have to put Franks Red Hot on it to get some taste. I'm not complaining I'm alive today and doing well just a few inconviences that are easy to dael with.
  6. This comment to me is a ridiculous thing for WGR to say. Obviously a QB has to hold the ball longer on a play that is developing further down the field. I think we can all agree that it takes longer for a play 20 yards down the field then it does 8 yards down the field. It is not how long the QB holds the ball but how quickly the can release it once the WR is open. I have seen many reports that Allen has a quick release. How quickly he gets the ball out of his hand when he is suppose to is what they should be talking about.
  7. What this draft taught me, as well as the off season so far, is that this regime will not bend to FAN pressure. They are not going to pick a player just to sell the seats in the stadium. They do their due diligence and then stick to the plan, or the "process" if you will. They go for the player that they believe will help the team win not the player that will help the Pegula's fill their pockets. Personally I like that. I have no idea if any of these picks will amount to anything, only time will really tell. But I love the fact that they work hard, gather their intelligence, do their due diligence and then execute based on what they learn. Not what the fan's learn and not what the fan's think. Beane and company thought enough of Josh Allen to risk their career on. They did all their work and said "YES" this kid is worth taking the chance. You may not agree but by god you should respect their decision.
  8. BadLands, this is one of the funniest posts I have ever read on here. Thank you so much for belly laugh. Now as to the thread. I believe the OP is is just baiting us however I'll play along. The thing that the OP is missing is that we are all judged. If you play a physical game then you will be judged on your physical abilities. If you are in a job where your smarts are more essential(sp?) then you will be judged on your smarts. What else is a talent evaluator suppose to judge you on. Being smart does not equate to being a good football player, just like being physical gifted does not equate to being a good accountant. Depending on what you want to do in life is how you will be judged, if it's football it will be your physical abilities plain and simple.
  9. It is amazing how good someone can look when you are drunk and it is 2am in the morning.
  10. I must be in the minority, but I think it is the trolls that make this board fun. especially the remarks that all of you give back. Some of you are extremely whitty and I get a bunch of laughs. I mean come on, what would the world be without trolls, nothing but boring if you ask me.
  11. I thought a team could designate a 3rd QB that could be used if the first two were injured, that did not count in the 53 man game day roster. If this is the case then having 3 QB's is not anything that would hurt the roster spot.
  12. I am so sick of seeing this!!!!!! Mahomes has done nothing in the NFL. He played one meaningless game, if the game had meant something he wouldn't have been playing Smith would have been. Watson has shown some signs of brilliance but nothing to where he should be anointed the second coming of christ, not yet. The Bills weren't the only team to pass on these guys.
  13. It amazes me how many unemployed NFL GM's are Bills fans. Just amazing.
  14. I am sometimes amazed at how the human brain works sometimes. Of course all of those picks are the Bills. They bought them with the trades and what not. They gave up someting of value to receive something of value in return. To use this logic would mean if you go to a store and buy a $500.00 TV which means you just traded $500 for that TV. This logic would say that the TV isn't actually mine. Of course it is I bought it just like the Bills bought those picks.
  15. Or another saying "Don't do something, just to do something" this is what a lot of posters want the Bills to do.
  16. These threads make me laugh. I find it hard to believe that anyone even thinks that Tyrod has trade value. Heck someone up above said a 3rd rounder but thinks a 4th is more realilistic (WHAT?). Tyrod has been the QB of a passing offense for 3 years now that has gone from the 29th in 2015, to the 30th in 2016 to the 31st in 2017. Oh sure he has a decent QB rating, high completion percentage and low int rate and many of you that support Tyrod had your arguments on those things but the GM's in the NFL look for so much more than that. They would rather a QB throw 30TD's and 12 INTS and pass for 3800 yards then throw 14TD's 4 INTs and only 2800 yards. They want a QB that can move the ball and keep the offense on the field, not lead the league in 3 and outs. But the real reason I laugh is that for some reason people think that the Bills haven't tried to trade him. Heck I think this front office has proven that they will trade anyone if they think it improves the team. So I am very sure that they are attempting to trade Tyrod. They know that they will have to cut him. He is not worth the roster bonus or salary. They would probably take a ham sandwich for him at this point. BUT GUESS WHAT, nobody wants him. I don't blame them, I don't want him either.
  17. I think the Tide commercials were brilliant. Not necessarily funny, but brilliant. I know that I was, as well as everyone around me, whenever a new add came on I would wonder if it was a Tide add or not. The people in their marketing department hit a home run, they basically piggy backed on all the other commercials. Anytime you see clean clothes, it's a Tide commercial. BRILLIANT!!!!!!!!!
  18. I agree these two were awful. Al Michaels just needs to retire. His mind is definitely going. He was getting peoples names wrong as well as downs and distance. Then Collingsworth spent the whole game on his knees in front of a pantless Tom Brady, it was disgusting how much of a crush he has on Brady. But when he went on and on about the Ertz TD that was so obvious that it was a TD, that I told my wife if they overturn it I was done with the NFL, and then was expecting it to be overturned and then moaned when it wasn't. I wanted to reach through the TV and snap his neck to get him to shut up. If this is NBC's #1 team if I am the NFL I insist that they get new ones or I think I look into how I can get out of the contract. Made the NFL look terrible with the play calling.
  19. This article should be required reading for all the Bills draft picks this April, heck I'll even go a step further and say that the NFL should make this required reading for all the rookies.
  20. I'm actually calling him Mr because he is older than I am and I was always taught to address my elders as Mr or Mrs. I have not met him as of yet but when introduced on Sunday we will see what he wants me to call him.
  21. I'm actually headed to Atlanta this weekend also but for the Atlanta game. My son met Arthur Blank at his work place and they got along so Mr. Blank has given us passes into his suite this weekend with sideline passes. So I will be missing the Bills game this weekend, though Mr. Blanks suite may have TV's showing the other games. We will wait and see.
  22. I was a member of the BBMB since the late 90's. I have always missed those days. That was when the board was only a message board. There was no frills or anything. Just per conversation. I was a mod in the early 2000's for a couple of years but then decided I didn't want to do that anymore. I was always being told that I was letting to much go. I was always the type of mod that would allow some heated discussion. Personally I don't shy away from it for I saw no reason to make others shy away. So I would let some minor infractions go. The head mod didn't like that so I decided to stop being a mod. Over the years I posted less and less but always used to puruse(SP?) the board. I was very surprised when the board was shut down. I'm hear now and still ostly just read with just a few posts here and there. PS: I used to post under the user name of flea832 over at BBMB.
  23. I certainly don't give a hoot about any of the celebrations but like others here just because I don't care doesn't mean I don't have an opinion. Personally all this crap about how it's a game is just that crap. It's a game to us, for the players it's their job. These are professional athletes I expect them to act professional and IMO these endzone celebrations are not professional. IMO all they have done is their job. A receiver catches the ball and it happens to be in the endzone it was still their job to catch the ball, nothing more. Same as an RB or a QB or any other position, they are doing their job. PERIOD. Then when you think that a good portion of the time the celebrration ends up meaning nothing in the end. What good is celebrating a TD when your team loses? Your team lost why are you celebrating. How many times do you see some fool get up after a catch or long run and the player will give the first down signal when their team is losing by 20 points, or when a defensive player celebrates a sack and 2 plays later the other team has a first down and 7 plays after that they score a TD which means the sack meant nothing, so what were they celebrating. Also if there is one thing I have learned in my 57 years of life is that a persons performance will mirror their attitude to the task. Meaning that if a player is out their to have fun then they will lose to a player that is taking it as a business, as their job. Examples: During Tiger Woods prime do you think he thought of golf as a game or do you think he took it as a business and the way he earned his living. You can ask this question about any great athlete ever. It was not game to them it was a business and their living and that was their attitude and that is one of the reasons they were or are great.
  24. You mentioned that he has the "skill set" to be a back up QB. I am asking you to tell me what this skill set is and you can't answer the question. So many people have mention for so long that he has the skill set that it is nothing but coach speak and means nothing. What skills do you see that he has that would make him a decent back up in the NFL? Simple question. I can get behind this. Nice post.
