Non Bill, unheralded, under the radar favorite player.

I enjoyed watching Manning throw to Austin Collie. I was a fan of his coming out of college. It's so sad that he got destroyed so many times with really bad concussions. He could have been really good. -
That's a good list.

This was a post from September 3rd. I don't think this is ranking according to results from the first two weeks. I think this is a speculative ranking to start the year.

Gardner is good. But he is not the best corner in the league. That is why he is overrated. Many have annointed him the best corner since Revis, and that is garbage.

I think there is a wide gulf between the top 2 and everyone else, honestly. But, I chose Burrow. Jackson is an elite talent, but his inability to operate as a pure passer and hurt teams from the pocket just keep him perpetually limited. Stroud needs to put up another elite year before I can start putting him in the conversation.

Is he ever?

Benford is really, really good. There's no way you can take him off the field even if Elam is good too. And Douglas has been playing well too. But what sets them apart is their ability to play the run and make tackles. They are basically the two perfect corners for our scheme.

Having multiple games on at once seems dumb to me. It's not like you can pay attention to more than one at a time. I'd rather they just hop around from one to the next. But, I am not their target. I do not watch red zone. It is not the way I choose to consume football. I turn on one game and watch it, with all the highs and lows. I like to feel the pace and flow of the game and get a feel for the impact players down in and down out, and getting a feel for the schemes and game plan. I'm not as concerned with being up to date on all the big plays around the league. I watch highlight videos or the condensed version of games later, if they interest me.

Gardner is really overrated. He holds ALL the time and that is starting to catch up to him. Tre White has really struggled. I think we moved on at the right time.

The changing game? Passing yards at 193/game so far....

Oh, it is for sure a trend. Teams have begun to change their rosters because of it already, investing more in heavier personnel. -
Zach Wilson belongs in the league, at least as a backup. And I think he could be a Geno Smith type and play pretty solid ball in a few years if he is ever given the chance again. He had all the physical tools.

It seems like a wash to me. Also, I'm not sure it matters.
-
I figured he would bust.
-
No, they make some mistakes. Mahomes threw 2 INT's. He often turns it over. And he has a ton of INT's that are dropped. They just have the talent and ability to overcome mistakes. Brady and the Patriots were less mistake prone.

The Chiefs are the best team in the league.
-
Gotta look cool for the cameras.

The same could be said about the Bills. They usually find a way to win as well.

The pendulum in the NFL is swinging back to the defense. Defenses are effectively capping explosive passing offenses. This is causing an evolution of offenses towards heavier personnel and the running game. In time, this is going to cause defenses to shift from speed and coverage to size and power. And the cycle will continue. I just hope that the NFL doesn't start tweaking the rules again to even further skew towards passing and offense. Just let the game evolve. There will be ebbs and flows over time, and that is ok. It allows teams to be innovative.

Frosted Tips Burrow is pissed.

Technically he was there early, but wow. That is weak. Got to let them play at the end of the game.
-
Yeah, it is like a nervous tic. It is annoying.
-
If Von Miller really is back, he will be key. He can make the big play in the big moments.

And it was a complete legal tackle. No face mask. Chase is doubly an idiot. He just didn't like the physicality of the tackle. It was NOT a hip drop tackle.
