It's OK to root for the Bills and want them to stomp their opponents and ALSO to think of matchups and cool scenarios in the Superbowl. I do think it would be cool if the Lions got there, because they never have. Or if the Bills and Vikings faced off in the superbowl, since both of 4 Superbowl losses. Some people enjoy NFL football, not exclusively Bills football. Yes, I root for the Bills and I'm a die hard fan of the team, but I also watch other games and follow the entire NFL landscape. That is fun for me. I don't follow any other sports, not even college football, so I get pretty invested in the NFL.

Just caught a blantant cheap shot at our QB from last week
MJS replied to JÂy RÛßeÒ's topic in The Stadium Wall
I would argue that it is incidental contact as part of a normal play. Here is the language at the end of the rule: "These provisions do not prohibit incidental contact by the mask or the helmet in the course of a conventional tackle or block on an opponent." It is kind of on the line to me. I certainly would not ever want to see a weak, customary play like that ever be flagged or fined. Gosh, do we want defenders to just be stationary dummies out there? Also, it is far more likely that Josh's funny bone, as he claims it, was hit by someone else or even during the fall to the ground, not due to the Fred Warner hit. -
He calls him by his name? Wow.
-
Why flagged? It isn't against the rules.

Part of the problem is defenders trying to make a hit, not trying to make a tackle. They lower their helmet to deliver a blow. That is when guys like Josh Allen jump over them. It's stupid. Keep your head up and go wrap up the ball carrier and make a boring tackle. If that was the mentality with defending a scrambling QB, you wouldn't have as many late hits. You'd be more aware and able to react when a slide happens. And you wouldn't have those huge, late hits.

With a win this Sunday, Coach McDermott will join some elite company
MJS replied to Logic's topic in The Stadium Wall
Yeah, he did it in an era when there was only 14 games for most of his career, although the final couple of years it switched to 16. He's had success in the playoffs too, though. The Bills have won at least one playoff game every year for the past handful of years. Only the Chiefs and the Bills have done that. -

Not true. Even the best teams in the NFL only have a small chance of getting to and winning a superbowl. That's just how it is. You get into the playoffs and you try to go on a run. You need a little luck, too. Nobody should ever expect a superbowl because superbowls are not ever likely. Hoping for one makes sense. Believing that you have a shot at it because of the team, the QB, etc. makes sense. But expecting one is never wise. -

I was going to say this. I'm a big McDermott supporter, but the 17 game schedule makes that a tad easier. I wish the NFL would have stuck with 16 games and not added more playoff teams. That was the perfect format. -
Nope. I have always been a McDermott supporter and continue to be. I think he is a top 5 head coach in the NFL and is perfectly capable of bringing a Lombardi Trophy to Buffalo. The time may come in the future when we move on from him. He will immediately go to another franchise and turn them into a contender as well.

He had a pretty forgettable personality and was so frustrating to watch, sometimes.

Hate Announcers? Here's How to Lose Them on Sunday Ticket
MJS replied to theRalph's topic in The Stadium Wall
I sure wish I had that capability. That sounds awesome. -
The Gronk hit was worse because it was well after the play.

Yeah, I know that some like him. His voice and everything he says just grates on me.

It doesn't matter if he hates us. That's not the issue. The issue is that he is extremely biased, for one thing, and says a lot of dumb things that either aren't true or are just asinine in nature. For instance, if it is a team he likes, every call that goes in their favor is correct, and he questions every call that goes against them, to the point that the bias becomes really noticeable. I actually think he used to point out interesting football things, but these days he has packed it in and doesn't do the homework and doesn't try all that hard. He just praises the players and says silly or dumb things all night. I think some of the criticism has gotten to him so he tries to be a people pleaser now. Tirico is better and smarter, but I find him smug and annoying many times, like he thinks he is smarter than everyone. But my least favorite is Charles Davis. I hate everything about his commentary. Everything.

The math isn't hard. If a player gets 25% of the popular vote, 20% of the player vote, and 15% of the coach vote, you multiply each by 33.3% and add them together for the percentage. That works out to 19.998%.

How does Sean McDermott not get coach of the year for having very few pro bowlers or NFL top 100 players and yet having one of the best offenses and defenses in the NFL every year?

Since when are snowballs seen as such a serious thing? I mean, jeeze. What if Christian McCaffrey got hit with a snowball!!!!!??? My gosh, would he ever recover???

Antonio Brown says a little girl thrown down stairs at Bills??

That was my thought as well. A drunk fan probably bumped into her, causing her to fall. Something like that.- 438 replies

McDermott’s Post Game speech deserves its own thread
MJS replied to stevestojan's topic in The Stadium Wall
I don't want anyone to have a 2nd chance. I want the losing team to go home, no matter how good they are. I like that about football. -
Yeah, he is a Shakir clone. We already have one of those. Free agency happens BEFORE the draft. Samuel would have been signed regardless.

I don't think it is unfortunate. I think it is the best. I love that about football. I like that there can be unexpected results some years because you can go out there and execute a game plan and play with everything you have for 60 minutes to topple the best teams in the league. -

That tackle by Rapp to prevent the TD was HUGE. Now we are up 14 to 3. -
