Great coaches also lose games sometimes, even to bad teams (like the Patriots losing to Miami multiple times over the past few years). And yeah, great coaches also put their injured players on the injury report ... because that's the rule...

Is the Bill's Mafia, etc., full of complainers?
MJS replied to Michael1962's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
The link says Cowboys are number one and Patriots are number two. Then Bills at three. I don't get them saying that Josh Allen complains, or even Cam Newton. Newton sulks on the sidelines but I don't see him actively complain. Tom Brady is the biggest complainer in the league, so they are right about that. Then they say Harbaugh, McDermott, and Belichick complain the most as coaches? That's just strange. Do they interpret clapping as complaining? And Belichick just stands there like a Sith warlord. -
Exactly. There actually isn't much of a correlation between penalties and winning.

Patriots throwbacks look like that. But it would be a nice combo.

We've seen some bad call, but those happen every game for virtually every team. I don't feel like the refs favor any teams. Sometimes specific players are favored (Tom Brady) or unfavored (Jerry Hughes), but I feel like the refs are happy to screw any team.

Sean McDermott is the 2nd Best Coach in Bills History
MJS replied to LB48's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
He still has a long road to beat out Levy. Levy won a TON of games. And he won lots of playoff games too. McDermott has not won a playoff game yet. But let's hope, in the end, he turns out to be the best coach in Bills history. -
It's probably both, but Brown is undeniably important to what they want to do on offense. He stretches the field like no one else can on that offense, besides maybe Diggs.

Bills historically bad on 3rd down defense conversion rate
MJS replied to BillsMafi$'s topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Let them finish the season first. Yeah, defenders were there. It was a really nice throw. -
Jerry Hughes emerging as the defensive leader we so sorely need?
MJS replied to jimmy10's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Absolutely it does. Leaders don't do that. -
Jerry Hughes emerging as the defensive leader we so sorely need?
MJS replied to jimmy10's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Hughes used to get hot headed every game and take stupid penalties and mouth off to the refs. I don't agree that he has been a leader for years. He has been a decent player for years, but not necessarily a leader. But he had a good game, so that's good. -

Week 7 MNF: Bears at Rams, 8:20 EDT
MJS replied to Hapless Bills Fan's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Motion shouldn't matter. But it's kind of up to the official's discretion. -
Really fun hit to watch, though. Hyde came in like a missile.

Harrison Phillips - Odd man out Or "our kind of guy"?
MJS replied to Hapless Bills Fan's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Coach speak. He does NOT love what Phillips is bringing to the table right now. But he isn't willing to call him out to the media. -
Should the NFL adopt the college OT format?
MJS replied to LabattBlue's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Never. Ever. Ever. I hope I die before that happens. And I'm young. (Sorry guys. This is one of the few football things I'm passionate about. I hate college overtime rules.) It's basically a game of 500. So stupid. And it runs up the score needlessly. -
The thing that always impressed me about Bill Belichick is his ability to put together a competitive defense year in and year out. There was one year I was convinced their defense would be terrible because they lost so many good players and had a bunch of no names in the secondary. And then they were pretty good. That's the year I was finally convinced that he was an amazing coach (I don't even remember which year...) He isn't an amazing GM and his drafts are average, but he's a great defensive coach, and at least he knows how to get the most out of his players. I just think the tank is completely dry on offense. Brady taking a pay cut for all those years really helped them out too.

Some of them are probably hockey fans. They make trades all the time in hockey.

Ditch RPO, More Play-Action, Run to the Right
MJS replied to Back2Buff's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I don't think that's true. Designed QB runs were a big focus the first week or so, and then they all but disappeared until yesterday. They've adjusted from using long passes down the field to short dink and dunk passes (assuming this is due to defenses covering the deep area and John Brown being out). I think it's safe to say our team is not as good as the Chiefs. They are the best team in the league, with one of the best offensive minds ever at head coach. We caught the Titans at a rough time because they wanted to come out and make a statement. I think that game is different if the COVID stuff didn't happen and we weren't as banged up (missing our best players on defense). -
I don't think they will and I won't be disappointed. I think we have the pieces we need. Just need to get healthy on both sides of the ball. If there was one position I think would help it would be 1 tech DT.

Ditch RPO, More Play-Action, Run to the Right
MJS replied to Back2Buff's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I'll leave it to the coaches to figure out. I think the health of players has been a big hurdle to overcome this year. Brown is needed on offense to take away the focus on Diggs. Our oline is not healthy. -
That is correct. Good guess.

Why does Belichick cut the sleeves off his hoodies?
