  1. I'll be happy if they don't take Wilson. I like Wilson and want to see him succeed. And if he goes to the Jets I'll have to root against him, and/or he might have his career ruined by them.
  2. I mean, three QB's from Allen's draft all went to the playoffs and won games. One of them was MVP one year. I'd say it is turning out to be quite a strong draft. But yes, there are QB's that are over drafted all the time. But it makes sense. You can't really compete without a good QB.
  3. No teams actually follow BPA. Some follow it within reason. For instance, if a QB is the top player on your board in round 1 and you are the Bills, you would be foolish to take that player. So yes, you violate the BPA philosophy and look at other players. And it's the same for other positions too, but less so. So the true philosophy is BPA within reason, considering positional value, scheme fit, etc.
  4. An article is basically just a short synopsis of what actually happened. There is no way for them to list everything that happens and all details. They include enough to tell the story and provide relevant details. So there is probably a lot more to the story that the journalist knows, and even more to the story that they weren't able to completely uncover, or they found to be less interesting to the overall narrative.
  5. Increased 17th game increases revenue. The salary cap is tied to a certain percentage of total revenues. So the cap increases. This means players will get paid more, likely the elite players like franchise QB's, while bottom of the roster guys still make the same amount. That's actually the part about it I am unhappy about. We'll see more inflated stats and many of the existing records will be broken more easily, diminishing what players did before. But this has happened when games were added in the past as well.
  6. Or just accept your legendary status. You are a king in these parts.
  7. I hope not. I hope they have picked 10 or 15 guys, because there is no telling who they will be able to pick. They just need to follow their draft board. Pick the guy with the best value who has the potential to help the team.
  8. Why are the logos always so oversized in all these concept helmets? I don't like any of them.
  9. I just wouldn't have that be a part of the evaluation process at all. You still do your due diligence into their character and off the field demeanor. I don't think opting out shows anything that would not be dug up during your normal evaluation process.
  10. I do think that is unfair. But you have to freedom to believe how you want.
  11. I just don't think it is wise to make judgements on players who opted out, even if they were perfectly healthy and had no underlying conditions. We were dealing with a worldwide pandemic. It's perfectly natural for many of those players to be scared and uncertain about what playing would mean. And how would you determine which guys just wanted a free pass and which ones had legitimate concerns, as if anyone falls neatly into those buckets anyway? To me, that just comes down to intelligence. If a guy is dumb enough to say he sat out because of his draft value, and posted about that on social media, or other selfish concerns, you pass on that guy because he is an idiot, not because he is selfish. Because if those are the true reasons, you lie and just say you did it because of health and family concerns.
  12. Some of us don't mind AND don't matter. I'm just here to make jokes and argue about football. You're a curiosity, that's for sure.
  13. Darnold looked pretty decent his first couple of years, in my opinion. He definately struggled last year, but his first couple years he showed a lot of good stuff and showed good development. Before last season there were still plenty of people willing to claim that Darnold was better than Allen and that he would have a better career than Allen. One season completely changed the narrative. I think Darnold can be a good QB still. But it is NOT going to be for the Jets.
  14. I'm sure a newly signed receiver is privy to all their plans at the QB position. Of course, it is the Jets. Maybe they do reveal their plans to anyone who asks nicely...
  15. I watch every game. Unless I have a conflict and have to miss one. But I really try to watch them all. Beat that...
  16. But that's just a guess like all the other numbers people have thrown out.
  17. This would probably not be the year we see a deal like that given that the cap just went down.
  18. I have a hunch he will sign a team friendly deal. But who knows? Maybe if Beane offers him a big signing bonus and a fully gauarenteed contract he would sign a lower per average deal.
  19. Maybe the extra game this season puts him up over 650, but I would have bet the under for sure in previous seasons.
  20. I guess even if Tua doesn't work out they'll have some draft capital to take another shot at a QB in the future.
  21. I have the exact same opinion. He has done well every time he has gotten on to the field. He is versatile and can line up at different spots. He just looks like a quality lineman to me. Granted, it's a pretty small sample size. The coaches know him way better than any of the fans do. I just know he'll get a starting gig for another team at some point if he doesn't get a shot here.
  22. Compared to last year it is undoubtedly easier. But you still need to go out and win the games.
