To me, this is exactly why it's the year to move up. We need top end talent more then 2nd and 3rd tier guys added to the roster at this point. We need to add a difference maker and we actually have the ammunition to get it done. On top of that it seems like a lot of teams may be open to moving down this year which may make this a buyers market and have to give up a bit less to get a deal done. If we move a 2 to go get a difference maker we have enough to get into the third and grab another tier 3 guy.

With the 37th pick in the 2025 NFL Draft the RAIDERS Select: Jalen Milroe, QB, Alabama I'm well aware of the general board consensus about Milroe. I can't say I disagree... However, with the Raiders Milroe falls into the absolute best possible scenario for him to be successful at the next level. First off, with Geno Smith in house now, Milroe doesn't have the pressure of starting and with O'Connell still here Milroe doesn't have to be the main backup. This gives him all this year as a red shirt season to work on and improve his mechanics. Head to one of those biometrics programs. Learn to pass the short to intermediate throws. He already does posses the ability to throw the deep ball well and is an extremely gifted athlete. If he gets his short game in order, and in interviews I have seen he seems laser focused on that, he can be a star. Second, he is coming to a team where the minority owner is a former 6th round pick that went on to win more than a couple Super Bowls by using the short passing game and reading a defense, processing the play and making a decision . Those are Milroe's weak areas. Maybe a good guy to get some pointers or two from. Third, remember the days when Russ Wilson was talked about as an MVP candidate? His coach remembers. Pete did well hiding Russ for years in Seattle. He also resurrected Geno Smith. Maybe Pete Carroll just has a way with QBs or knows who to hire that can. In any event, the athleticism of Milroe combined with the history of Carroll to get the most out of subpar QBs, mixed with Tom Brady being a sounding board and the fact he isn't pressured to play right away may just be the perfect mix for what Milroe needs to succeed at the next level. The Patriots and @section122are on the clock

Meanwhile, if Maye struggles out of the gate for any reason, New England avoids a QB controversy in the media, fan base and potentially the locker room and putting more pressure on Maye. In the end, they shipped out a player the new staff isn't tied to. Shame for them they couldn't get more out of it.

I wanted him really bad last year as a development back up to Allen. It may have been against 2nd and 3rd reamers against us last year but he looked really good in live action. Read the field well and the moment wasn't too big for him. It's a good get for Dallas at a low price

Agree. With where the picks are located he has the ability to move up in any round while still able to slide back and pick up later round picks (or maybe some in next year's draft) and play the board more. He has a lot of freedom to move to where he wants to be based on how the board falls on draft nights. I'm hopeful he will be more aggressive than reactionary this year.

I do think we will be pretty active. While I do believe that you can't believe anything you hear this time of year from a GM, sometimes human nature slips up and hands get tipped a bit. In the past Beane has always said "I like my picks" when talking about the draft. This year when asked in a couple interviews he said "I like my ammunition". A slight change in vocabulary is notable here. He isn't sitting still. I think if a guy they love drops in the first they are making a move. If the board falls and several guys grades high stay on the board they sit tight round one and make a move up either in round 2 or 3. Either way, don't walk too far from the TV on draft nights 1 or 2... because the Bills may be in the clock far sooner than estimated.

Rasul Douglas Wants to Stay in Buffalo
BuffaloBillyG replied to Warriorspikes51's topic in The Stadium Wall
He was atrocious last year. I don't want him back. Unless there was some unknown injury, he fell off a cliff fast. That said, I'm betting sometime the week before the draft he's re-signed to the Beane special...1yr $2M deal. -
I don't disagree with you on many of your points. Jeanty there wouldn't surprise me at all. In fact, I think that's probably the actual pick in that spot. Especially with how much Carroll likes to lean on the run game. That's where my own bias came into play where I personally could not pull the trigger on a nongenerational RB that high. Once I decided to go with a weapon the options came down to TE (and they are good there) or WR. And as I said, I personally like other WRs better, but often it comes down to who fits what teams want to do best as to where and when they are picked. I see Emeka as a natural fit for that offense more than someone like Golden. Teams rate players different based on system all the time When you talk about where a player is rated and if it's a reach, remember, people largely base that off a generic scouting report not team specified due to system. One teams #1 WR may be another teams #4. Or vice versa. Many who talk "reach" base it off guys like Mayock, Jeremiah, and Kiper (and the rest)'s generic list and their mock drafts that are typically nowhere close to what plays out on draft day. And anyone who cares step outside the conventional "group think" about a prospect is bonkers.

I already have Netflix. So Bank on the Bills being the third game on Amazon. -
Good pick. And intriguing how far Sanders falls now. He should make it to the Saints at 9. And if they pass it could be a deep drop. Seattle at 18? Pittsburgh at 21? Rams at 26? Those being the most likely IMO.

With the 6th pick of the 2025 NFL draft the Oak...uh ..Los Ange...er...LAS VEGAS RAIDERS SELECT: Emeka Egbuka, WR, THE Ohio State. There were so many picks here I could have made. The Raider roster is just that void of talent. Had this been a draft with trades I would have included myself in the growing list of teams willing to trade out! Ashton Jeanty was strongly considered and knowing how Pete Carroll loves running the ball, it wouldn't shock me if he is the pick here. However if I'm picking a RB in the top 10, he better be legitimately 'generational'. Jeanty is in the very good to potentially great category just below that IMO. Finding a RB can wait in this draft. It's deep. A WR? Now there's some value. Sanders here would make some sense as well, however I hate the destination for a player with maturity concerns. And I'm not convinced there isn't a QB that can be had later or next season that has just as much upside And while personally I like other WRs more than Egbuka, namely Golden and McMillan, I see a Temu DK Metcalf/JSN hybrid with Egbuka. Something I think Carroll won't pass on if WR is the pick. Is 6 a reach for him? Absolutely. But no franchise has the reputation of reaching for players that the Raiders do...no matter who is making the pick. The Jersey Jets and @DJBare on the clock. However with how often their fans cling to that Super Bowl III win, we are unsure if they can tell time.😂😂😂

As the Raiders acting GM in this one I resent that lol I already have my pick made. Just waiting on Jacksonville. But it will shake some up for sure 😉

I like the pick based on them not being 100% on what Barmore will be next year. Can't have enough in the trenches.

Bills halt contract negotiations with Cook
BuffaloBillyG replied to Returntoglory's topic in The Stadium Wall
If he does any kind of hold out/hold in he may make it harder on himself then he should have. Common to see guys coming out of that situation suffer from soft tissue injury that hampers them for chunks of the season as well. -
Alternate uniforms and red helmets for 2025? Bills COO suggests it

I know those are well liked especially by a lot of the super old timers here...but I cannot stand them The buffalo standing there is just so passive looking. -
We have a punt competition coming to TC. LOVE IT

McDermott in animated discussion with Roseman?

Heated conversation can happen when 2 people agree. There's no saying what was said. They could have all been calling Green Bay an ####### together. -
Just going off the words I see here my impression is: Next off-season Beane will be saying James Cook has Earned the right to test the market. I believe that Douglas has a floating offer from the Bills on his agents desk with a "expiration date". The week before the draft a vet CB will be brought in. WR is something we are looking at but not near the top of the draft. He's looking for competition and relying on Keon to take a step forward. If we do select one get ready to hear the phrase "We feel he can help out in Teams (special teams) this year." We have 1 definitely locked in starter at safety in Rapp. And wouldn't shock me if they still view Hamlin as the second safety. I think a lot of hope needs to come from hoping a fully healthy TC leads to Bishop taking major steps and possibly move Rapp to Hamlin's spot. 1T is a huge need. I think we are moving up for one this year. And it wouldn't surprise me if it's much higher than most people may think. Whatever happens, this board will be on red alert meltdown mode for weeks.
-
Honesty I kinda doubt it. I don't believe Beane has used the tag in his GM career. Also, if I saw it right the franchise tag # for RB this year was $13.6M. If Beane doesn't want to pay $15M AAV I sincerely doubt he would be into paying $13.6M for a one year deal at the position.

Benford Extended 4 Years - 76 million
BuffaloBillyG replied to Mikie2times's topic in The Stadium Wall
Really good deal at the initial number, will likely be even better once "actual" numbers come out. Even better, being they have access to his medicals, good chance he's looking healthy if they were willing to do this deal now.
