"There are times, for example, when Diggs will take a non-traditional path on his route to attempt to deceive the cornerback in front of him. The additional steps can also deceive his quarterback at times. If the passer is trying to hit Diggs with anticipation on an intermediate route, the extra steps can cue the quarterback and lead to an errant throw. " Shades of Stevie Johnson! The difference is Diggs is also a lot more athletic.

Nick O'Leary is athletically limited, but he is a decent pass catcher and a decent blocker. If you have enough talent at the TE position, he's going to have a tough time competing. If you don't , he can help you fill out your position and catch a few passes for you.

My belief all along is that Josh Allen is perfectly capable of launching a beautiful deep pass. I never did any analysis, but I thought early on last season that he was over throwing routinely out of a fear that he would be picked off if he threw it anywhere near the DB. There were also times when his footwork was awkward. He needs to come to the point where he is appropriately careful, but not afraid, and uses sound footwork wherever possible. There is nothing he did wrong that is not easily correctable.

Next years starters - only getting better
TigerJ replied to Coach55's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
The OP has a good point. I don't think among young players improvement is necessarily uniform across the board. For instance, Devin Singletary is pretty advanced in his running. I think he'll improve a little, but I think the potential is there at least for Dawson Knox to make a vast improvement because he is still relatively recently removed from a transition from high school QB to college tight end, and was greatly underutilized in college. There is also something to be said for the potential of the entire offensive line to improve due to continuity. There could be a change here or there, but the personnel grouping is going to have mostly old faces. Plus they will be in their second year with the same O'line coach, who, while he has plenty of experience as an assistant, is only in his second year in charge of the offensive line. Continuity and cohesiveness is more important on the o=line than almost anywhere else. -
I can get a vaccination for the flu that greatly reduces my chance of getting it. The lack of a vaccine for this makes it more dangerous than the flu, not to mention the fact that the protocols for treating this are still developing. It's pretty well established that when a high risk patient develops the flu, doctors know exactly what to do. I had first hand experience with that when I developed the flu a week after surgery to remove part of my lung.

Have you seen worldwide maps of the spread of the disease? It's taken a bit longer to get established in Africa and South America, probably because there is more international travel between the developed nations of the northern hemisphere, but it's there and it looks like it's just earlier on the bell curve in those places. It's going to be around for a while, but my sense is that over time some medications will be firmly identified that can alleviate symptoms so the mortality rate can be kept down somewhat and hospital capacity is less stressed. Also, over time, as a population base is built up of people who have had it and are immune, it will spread less rapidly. Right now, virtually everybody is a candidate to contract and spread the disease. That's why pandemics happen. Corona viruses, like all viruses do mutate and produce variations over time, but I don't think corona viruses do at quite the rate that influenza viruses do. There could be another corona virus pandemic at some point, but I think it might be a while before another one happens.

Do you think Beane still goes after Clowney or Pass?
TigerJ replied to BuffaloBills1998's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
At this point, it's a pass. -
The obligatory number change thread - Diggs & Ray Ray

Just replace Ray Ray's name with "Obsolete" and you're good to go. -

Beat me to it. Happy birthday any way, Coach. I hope you can find something exiting to watch on TV! -
Does Diggs Count Against us for the Comp Formula?
TigerJ replied to ROCBillsBeliever's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Agreed with the second and third posters on comp pick implications of the Diggs trade (there are none). The comp pick formula is not entirely transparent. Buffalo's lower priced free agents might not count in the formula, but since Butler, Addison, and Jefferson were not cheap Buffalo is probably out of the running for comp picks in 2021. Things could change for the 2022 draft as Buffalo will hopefully have some long term stability in more positions. They may be signing fewer higher priced free agents. -
Remaining running backs in free agency
TigerJ replied to TigerJ's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
He was transition tagged by Arizona. They would simply have to match whatever offer he gets from another team. -

I would sign one and draft one myself. -
Why Was Frank Gore So Ineffective Down The Stretch?
TigerJ replied to Phil The Thrill's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Fail. His touches went down after game 6. Instead of an average of 14+ touches per game, he was betting just over 9 touches down the stretch. Chandler's explanation is the simplest. As Singletary became the feature back, Gore had to transition to a short yardage specialist. Unfortunately, he often failed in that role. On a number of occasions, he failed to convert on third and short or fourth and short. -
With Melvin Gordon going to the Broncos, the market has shrunk a bit. The bigger names remaining include Lamar Miller, (formerly of the Texans and Miami) Devonta Freeman, (formerly of the Falcons) and Carlos Hyde. Hyde is a heavy duty back and at 29 has some miles on him. However, his last season in Houston was a career best. Lamar Miller, who also played for the Texans last season, is also good sized, a bit younger, but has more miles than Hyde. Freeman is a smaller back, about the same weight and only a bit taller than Singletary. He is 28 and has been productive in a tandem running back situation his entire career in Atlanta. Buffalo could also go with a running back that has lower miles. Ty Montgomery spent last season with the Jets. It was his worst statistically with only 3.2 YPC. That might have been an issue with the Jets offense as a whole as LeVeon Bell was pretty bad too. Montgomery also had 5.9 YPC in 2016 with Green Bay. He was drafted as a WR, so he knows how to run routes and catch the ball. He is 6' and 216 lbs. CJ Prosise spent his whole career to this point in Seattle, where he was lightly used. In 4 seasons he has a total of 65 carries. He's got good size and good speed. He also played a little receiver (in college). Wendell Smallwood is, as his name suggests, on the small side. On the other hand, he's fast, and was productive in college. He's been lightly used in the pros and has unimpressive stats. Here are a few more listed here https://www.msn.com/en-us/news/politics/us-senators-sold-stock-after-coronavirus-briefings-in-january/ar-BB11rJg6?ocid=spartanntp if you want to check them out. I wouldn't mind seeing the Bills pick up someone like Ty Montgomery. We would be asking him to carry the ball fewer than 20 times a game. He's shown he can produce at that volume and he's versatile. Do you have a preference?

Unquestionably, the Bills need to add at least one quality rotational running back. Beyond that improvement of the offense mostly depends on improvement from Josh Allen, and that is a wild card.

How does he even pass a physical?

Higgins pro day turned Bills off and led us to Diggs trade
TigerJ replied to Reed83HOF's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
The Bills could pick up a Swiss Army Knife late if they draft Antonio Gibson. Has played receiver and running back. He's 227 lbs and runs a 4.42 40. -
I'm OK with Hyde.;

We are looking at Melvin Gordon according to this tweet
TigerJ replied to Buffalo03's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
After his holdout with the Chargers, I see Gordon as something of a diva. Unless he's changed that would not be a good thing to add to the roster. -
Well, I like Taiwan Jones better than Sinorise Perry. That's something, I guess.

Maybe a running back to spell Singletary. Beyond that maybe some depth competition, but most of the attention getting transactions have already been done.
