  1. I don't buy the "doesn't fit the culture" talk and I think if we are really looking to win, you look into it. Something like a Kirk Cousins deal could be worth the risk...shortish (3-4 years?) offer but fully or nearly fully guaranteed offer could fit what Bell is looking for.
  2. The comparison to Peterman is one of the first things that I think of when anyone mentions JA's arm strength. I would cringe anytime Peterman would throw an out route because it would take about 3 days to reach the receiver. There have been a ton of otherwise meaningless throws that Allen has made when the arm strength stand out...doesn't have to be throwing it 60+ yards in the air.
  3. I don't mean that the stats compare to Newton, I jus think to the eye he compares to Newton. Huge strong dude that can run and bounce off of tacklers, cannon for an arm with some accuracy issues. Like I said it's early so who really knows but I can't really think of a better player comparison at this stage.
  4. I think it's way too early to answer this with much certainty but so far I am extremely pleasantly surprised by JA's athleticism. I knew that he was athletic but not as much as he has shown so far. So far he seems to compare well with Cam Newton and if that continues I'd be pretty happy.
  5. To honor Nate, I will pour out a 40 for him...and somehow miss the ground entirely.
  6. It made me think of this...as luck would have it, the Jets are included! https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5phijpb1Hjk
  7. If they get ahead, the defense is great because it seems to be designed to play with a lead with that pass rush but teams are running the ball against them. I also think Marcus Peters is wildly overrated. He gets burned all the time.
  8. I legitimately have absolutely no idea how the next four games will turn out. I'm more optimistic than I was a week ago but I also wouldn't be stunned if we got utterly destroyed by the Jags. Somehow I also wouldn't be stunned if we won easily. I've never seen a Bills team this hard to predict.
  9. I think he must have been concerned with ball security... Even worse, and (to me) a sign of bad coaching is the number of pre-snap penalties. If I see one more play negated by a freaking illegal formation I'm going to throw something.
  10. I've been following the Rockpile Review for years & it has always been something that I looked forward to, even after dismal games like yesterday's game. Always love to read your thoughts even if they will be as critical as mine often are. Last year's "success" likely clouded my view of the team both last season and leading into this season. I'm still willing to let McD & Beane go through the rest of this season and next season but that's it for me. Who knows if the Pegulas feel the same way. More of my Sundays have been free this year so I guess that's a good thing. I'm not bailing on the Bills but I'm certainly not going to agonize about them either.
  11. Seven is going to be the most difficult because a FG and two safeties is pretty rare. I just assume you aren't talking about a TD because that would just be insane.
  12. He will draft whoever can execute Spider 2 Y Banana most effectively.
  13. Great move by Dallas. Remember how great it worked out when they got Joey Galloway and Roy Williams...
  14. I'm surprised no one has mentioned that yet. We're talking about how much cap space we'll have going forward, but the free agent class is uninspiring and who in their right mind would want to come here over just about any team out there? We might be able to pick up some good pieces, but they Bills need to absolutely crush the draft and hope to god Allen progresses to have a chance at being even close to relevant for the foreseeable future.
  15. I swear if we bring in one more player from Carolina, I'm going to just go ahead and root for Carolina.
  16. I admire your optimism man, I really do. I talked myself into it for a lot of the season but I honestly can't right now. Granted I have only been a Bills fan for about 20 years (awesome timing huh!), but I think this is about the worst I have felt about this team.
  17. I don't disagree with you at all. My main reason for commenting is because of the tenor of the OP. I get the knee jerk reactions to the team but relitigating draft picks is such a constant theme here (likely on all other teams boards as well) that it drives me insane. It's a whole lot easier to look at Mahomes and say "yeah he's going to be great for a while" because he has one more off-season under his belt and because those complimentary pieces (surrounding talent & coaching) are likely going to be around for a while. My reaction is in response to the number of people writing off Allen so quickly. He might be a bust and he might not be but to make declarations (again others here - I'm not pointing a finger) with SUCH certainly this early in his development is crazy.
  18. The other things that those QBs have - a supporting cast and capable offensive coaching staffs.
  19. I'm just waiting for the inevitable "Trade for Chad Kelly" thread. Not looking forward to that one because I'll likely jam a pencil into my skull.
  20. Also the other QB that I mentioned...Deshaun Watson. Definitely looked elite yesterday. Again I am not saying that he is not going to be great...he very well could be but it's also possible that he'll come back down to Earth once there is tape on him...like Watson...like Prescott. Frankly I hope he stays just as good because the league could use the excitement but I'm not going to anoint him after 7 starts and I'm not ready to give up on Allen after 5 starts.
  21. Am I thrilled with Allen so far? No I'm not. At the same time, I am so freaking tired of threads like this. Would we have been better off drafting him? Absolutely no one can definitively say yes. Weren't we saying the same thing about Watson by this time last season? He looks very average so far this year and we just made him look pretty awful. Dak Prescott was an MVP candidate his rookie year...then what? Middle of the pack. I'm not about to label Allen a bust and I'm not about to put Mahomes in the hall of fame. One looks bad right now and one looks great but to use the sample size that we've have of both players and then make a black & white opinion is insane at best and ignorant at worst although not very out of line with how opinions are formed about everything else in this country.
  22. 100% this and I absolutely do not understand it AT ALL. I swear that I can count the number of screen plays run all year on one hand, and a bunch have been slow developing ones to Clay, not Shady. With a young QB...hell with any QB...shouldn't a huge majority of plays have an option or crossing route? I've been watching Brady throw an option to a little WR or shifty RB for 17 freaking years but the Bills can't do it. Talent is sub-par on offense but the offensive scheme thus far has been absolutely dreadful thus far.
  23. My comment was in reply to someone’s comment about Antonio Brown not OBJ.
  24. I'll take him over his QB any day of the week.
  25. I am hoping for a great game but I tend to think that the Pats will win pretty easily. Getting Edelman back is not a minor deal and will dramatically change the offense that has looked not so great so far.
