  1. Nondescript? You might want to check that 2003 Jets roster. Very good players both O and D. Chad was ok, but he'd be passable in todays league, not rip it up. He doesn't have the arm strength to keep Defenses and DB's honest in what is now a passing league. He'd need a serious run game to mask that arm.
  2. Why not? And if not, who goes? I still think AJM gives them the best chance to win now if they put Josh on the back burner. https://www.pro-football-reference.com/players/P/PennCh01.htm Nothing spectacular either. But for a back up role, more than good enough.
  3. As good as NP looked last night I was still left with a ho-hum feeling. I can only hope Josh becomes a lot more relevant than Chad P. To me he was the definition of average, Career 66% / 102 TDs, 64 INTs/ 200 yds per game. Sound familiar? It should cause we just got rid of a guy just like him but with running ability. I do agree with you that if Nate can evolve into a CP type clone that would be perfect for our back up position but as a starter, no way. Chad was pretty decent but we didn't draft Josh 7th overall to be decent.
  4. If the guy just had a little more zip in that arm he'd be the starter hands down before Josh is ready. Showed good vision, progression and control of the offense. Unfortunately his arm reminds me of Chad Pennington.
  5. Gun to your head, with what you've seen this past year. Adams or Hyde? Who you got? Be honest.
  6. Fair enough, I just don't see it. Wasn't ignoring your post. The coaches eye will determine who starts, not the fans. I just think at this point he hasn't shown enough.
  7. The man's the ultimate hybrid and can play obviously either position. I was having grandiose visions of our back 3 and you ruined it!!
  8. Gotta do better than that. They'll want next years 1st and maybe a 2020 2nd along with a player like Lawson or even Hughes. And you know what? I'd pay it!!! Mack (Thumper)/ Edmunds (Enforcer)/ Milano (Hawk) . WOW!!! Use the cap space savings for talent on Offense and away we go!!!
  9. Fair or not eball, do you ever recall a QB on this or any other team isolated from the 1's this long into camp and come away with the starter position come opening day? Allens' biggest problem is having 2 serviceable starters in front of him. Not top shelf, but serviceable nonetheless. One of them (NP) being one of "their" guys and the other (AJM) being brought in as insurance in the event they couldn't score the QB they coveted in the draft. The Jets really forced McBeane's hand when they traded up to 3 because it made it conceivable they may not get their guy. And that's on them BTW for thinking they can be cute with their draft ammo not thinking some QB needy team would leap frog them. In a perfect world it would be NP and Allen fighting it out for #1 and #2 while some PS player hold the 3 spot.
  10. I also recall that as well. What I'm trying to say Shaw is that I feel it was never their intention to have him in the running for starter though they said it was open comp. I guess the real question to ask is, up to this point do you believe Allen has been given an actual and fair chance to compete for the starting QB position? Preseason starts Thursday and the season opener is Sept 9th. The starter will most likely be named before the last preseason game on the 30th if not sooner. McD has done some head scratching stuff to this point but I don't think Josh with his body of work so far will merit enough to be the starter come opening day and if he's not the starter then to me by definition he's being brought along slowly. Even if he shows extreme promise in the preseason I don't think it'll be enough to start.
  11. Everyone's ready to take the new toy out for a drive, but even new toys need a break in period. McBeane have a tentative plan in place and it involves bringing Allen along SLOWLY. The fact that he has yet to lead the first team this far in pretty much gives you a clue of their intentions. I know they said early on that it's an open competition but that appears to be BS. Starting a raw project like Allen pretty much assures us a losing season. That would be so unfair to those players and fans who want to continue playoff aspirations after last season and deserve the best QB out there. At this point it doesn't look like Allen, but to be fair he hasn't really had a chance to roll with the 1's. Now if the team craps the bed and come out 0-6 (very possible) then I can see getting the kid some real time experience. But if they come out let's say 4-2, there's no way he sees the field barring injury. And that's a good thing in my eyes at least. This is only my opinion and I obviously have no insider knowledge of what the brain trust plan for the season. Oh, and SCREW BILLICK! He's been defecating on this team ever since he was passed up for HC.
  12. I believe it was a Buffalo reporter named Wes Goforth but not entirely sure.
  13. Marv loved his players to a fault. He was truly a " players coach". This was one of my favorite moments sticking up for Bruce Smith.
  14. Love me some Tre but he's not exactly picking off Brady, Rodgers or Brees while guarding AB, Julio and Hopkins. Not ?ing on him, he's on his way to being an elite CB for years to come. Wish he had better comp in camp. KB seems to be the only WR giving him a challenge.
  15. If he had the talent around him like Mahomes has in KC I may agree. But the offensive side of this roster is not very good and would doom a rookie and perhaps hurt his confidence level. Trubinsky and Watson both had better offenses as well when they got their shot last year. McCarron I believe will be the starter until the wheels fall off, if they do.
  16. I guess attempted humor isn't going over very well this week. Yes, I follow reports. To my knowledge O-Line is still very much one of the weak links on this team. Run blocking has been good, pass blocking has been uninspiring. It was a joke and nothing more, but if you're pleased that they are maintaining their level of mediocrity that's cool.
  17. The Guards at Buckingham Palace have more life than these guys!
  18. It was 3rd and 12 IIRC. 1. Over confidence. 2. No change in game plan when it was obvious what NY was doing. 3. Getting plowed over and over by an aging RB, killing the clock. 4. Letting a back up QB control the game. 5. Norwood choking. The list goes on. I was 23 years old and til this day the only Bills game I ever cried over.
  19. Both from California is true, but to compare Manhattan Beach to Firebaugh is like comparing a Bugatti to a Hyundai. Plus I don't recall bringing up financial status. Just humility vs arrogance. As far as concussions? Rosens are well documented. Not to say Allen hasn't had any but the red flag on him was a shoulder/ clavicle injury. And as mentioned before I would root for either if that was what McBeane went with. Just saying.
  20. Who knows who'll be the better QB. Rosen was said to be the most pro ready of the bunch. McBeane went with the high ceiling, cannon arm humble country boy so that's who I'm hitching my wagon to. But if they choose to go with the arrogant, concussion prone California boy I guess I'd root for him too.
  21. Say what you want about his form, his timing was PURRFECT! Enter rimshot sound effect... Ba-Dum Bum...
  22. Agreed. Taiwan maybe Tai-gone..... Add rimshot drum effect: ba-dum bum!!
  23. They started 5-2 last season! Just copy and paste............................
  24. 52, but I'm built like Tom Brady..
