Without posting "all 22" footage of multiple plays, I'll have a hard time proving it....and that did get better once Stefan Wisneiski took over at LG this year.. You can live with him if your Guards are good. Most of the year both G were bad and even after LG was shored up, RG the DR. wasn't good. Mahomes legs are good enough to negate a lot of that...but it's been an issue all year...... I tried to attach some videos demonstrating my point, but they are too large.....so here is a link to an article on "the athletic" that explains it well. Not sure your a subscriber, ufortnuately is a paywall. https://theathletic.com/1432331/2019/12/04/chiefs-film-review-whats-wrong-with-o-line-plus-mahomes-happy-feet-solid-secondary-more/?redirected=1

Mahomes doesn't prefer to drop that far back. he can....but he's at his best....like most QB, when he has a pocket or can step up in the pocket instead of backward. You see Mahomes fade back often, because KC has pure garbage for G-C-G.

As many noted already....it's too early for this.....FA still to play out...the draft.....injuries in training camp so predictions a bit rough this time of year, but a few thoughts. 1. Buffalo has earned a place in this leauge where you see them on your schedule and you don't chalk that up to an automatic win...so even as the schedule at this time, appears rough for Buffalo...those teams seeing the Bills on the schedule should be considered rough as well. The Bills are a good team and tough out. 2. I have no idea how the Tom Brady saga is going to end, but here is my best guess. He resigns with the Patriots, and knowing they really are at the end, decide to break from the norm a bit and spend some money for Tom to have a few weapons. Julian Eddlemen CAN NOT be any teams No.1 WR. He isn't that guy. he's a great peice to have on a team with other weapons...he can't be THE weapon. Not having GRONK, or a TE even remotely close to resembling him, hurt bad. IF......IF Brady is back and they go out and get him a TE, and a couple more WR who are legit (like an emmanual Sanders in FA, ETC ETC) Then Belichick will be able to head to 2020 with what is still a very very good D, and an offense that might have one more good run left with Brady. In that scenario, the Bills would absolutely have to split or sweep. For the Bills, a complete dismantling of that team would obviously be best. Whatever happens there, goes a long way toward understanding the Bills prospects. 3. it has been noted that there is usually an influx of a new playoff teams from year to year.....and almost always 1 team you don't really expect. That's an interesting prospect...but one that should also concern Bills fans.....I've mentioned it before and got "boooooed" like crazy, but a young up and coming team like the Bills....are sometimes prone to an uneven ascent to being a real contender....sometimes when a good young team has a good season, and draws a somewhat stronger schedule the next year, there is a bit of a slump, even as the team continues to grow. if you are honest about it....that is a possibility for the Bills.....but let's assume that isn't the case....some here have noted that teams like the Steelers will be back in the mix when Ben comes back...so that's 1 right there that is lurking. One I don't expect back are the Titans....that formula of Tannehill and Henry only works so long...and both are FA so we don't even know if both will be back or not. I tend to think high usage RB wear down and that kind of team can be exposed in the playoffs...and problaby the regular season too. 4. Lastly....also, as mentioned prior in this thread....winning your division is the goal and getting at least one home playoff game. Winning in the playoffs is tough, and being at home helps....the Bills would have a great homefiled advantage and getting a home playoff win would be a HUGE milestone....you win one, you get Allen and the team that experience and confidence of a playoff win...it's a huge building block....not just for the next playoff game, but it's one of those big bricks you lay as the foundation of a team that is building something. Everyone else in the Bills divison plays more or less the same "tough" schedule. The Bills, at this early stage at least....look like the best team in the AFC East....the division title has to be the low end goal. ......and unrelated to the Bills....just a way too early look ahead..... KC finds itself in a somewhat similar position to the Patriots in that KC has already been dominating the AFC W since Andy Ried has been coach...KC has lost 1 division game in like 3 years or something like that...and that should continue as the Chargers, Raiders and Broncos all navigate iffy QB situations again next year.....The core of the team is under contract through 2021 more or less so they are well positioned to compete for the forseeable future. Expect KC to be back and near the top of the standings again. I expect Baltimore will continue to run their unique offense and run it well. They should be contenders and alot of them certainly remain hungry after this years dissapointment in the playoffs...I think they'll be motivated to get back. The Titans had a great run to finish off the year. I don't think Tannehills passing streak and numbers are sustainable..I do expect he'll be back in TENN, adn they'll regret overpaying for Henry, who will wear down over time. They play in the weak AFC South, so that gets them somewhere but not to the playoffs. My surprise playoff team from the AFC.....you 2020 AFC South Champion......................Jacksonville Jaguars. That team still has alot of the same parts that made them a really tough D the last few years...and Gardner Minshew won 6 games for them....they aren't dynamic on O, but among Foles and Minshew, one of those guys will be a solid QB. I think no one will have any expectations at all, and they play in the AFC south. Indy has QB issues. Tennesee..I don't see them repeating what they did...and that leave Houston. Houston has the most talent in that divison. However, I think Bill Obrien has shown he can't get a team past the divisional round of the playoffs. I think he's probalby lost the locker room, or if he hasn't...his grip on it, is hanging by a thread. They've expended a ton of draft capital and money and still can't get anywhere. They know they have a good QB, and the players are going to start tuning that guy out. I believe they implode in 2020 and miss the playoffs. AFC too early to call it playoff teams (NOTE, these aren't final predicitons for the whole season!) 1. KC 2. Baltimore 3. Buffalo 4. Jacksonville 5. Pittsburg 6. New England That's 2 new in. Houston and Tennessee out. NFC thoughts. I can see a scenario where the Niners implode. That SB loss was devastating...and they have some FA decisions to make...add that to the division they play in....the Seahawks and Rams both had winning records in 2019 and still have some punch even if LA is fightin the cap now...the core is still there. The Cardinals gave SF all they could handle in both games. Jimmy G might actually be the 4th best QB in his own division. All things combined...super bowl hangover, some FA leaving, limited by Jimmy G, tough division. The NINERS are out of the playoffs in 2020. I see a similar fate for the Packers....they won a TON of close 1 score games. That isn't sustainable. Rodgers looks like hes beginning to decline a little. They had a decent D, but have too many hole and benefitted from some breaks in the schedule etc etc. I also think the division will be tougher. The Lions were starting to look just a little scary before Stafford got hurt. The Bears.....even with Trubisky, sill have most of a strong D in tact. The Vikings have a solid deep roster. The Pack MISS THE PLAYOFFS in 2020. The Cowboys had a really wierd season....put up alot of stats on bad teams....couldn't beat good teams.....have a fairly deep roster. New coach....lots of bad teams in divison. I see them winning the division in 2020. They are back in. Part of why this is too early.....don't know what drew brees will do yet. If he's back with the Saints...they are back in....let's assume he's there. They get in. My big surprise of the NFC....teh Falcons win the NFC south. They played hard for their coach. They still have Matt Ryan. Julio....they are over their Super Bowl heartbreak and ready to compete again. I think they get it together and win the division. Detroit is my other surprise team. A healthy stafford hsa the Lions rolling and in teh mix for the NFC north title all year. NFC too early to call it playoff teams (agian, NOT my final predictions..I'll do that before the season) 1. Cowboys (thats right...they will ride an easy divison, and fresh coach to a 1 seed) 2. Falcons 3. Lions 4. Sehawks 5. Vikings 6. Saints That is 3 new teams in. SF, GB, Philly, all out. NFC is wide open next year.

First....THANK YOU to everyone here at TBD for allowing me to be a part of this great fan community. I really apreciate it. SECOND. I can't think of everyone here I've ever had a great convo with, but for you guys....like @Hapless Bills Fan , @transplantbillsfan , @YoloinOhio @HappyDays ...and may others....I won't be insufferable....I want you guys to get one. You deserve it and it's as great as you'd think to get one of these damn trophys after so much dissappointment....and I know you all can relate to that. I hope Josh Allen, and the Bills keep trending upward...I'd love to see some KC/Bills playoff games...you konw Jim Kelly got us twice in the 90's! Third...please let's set the record straight...I am not Jeffismagic. I came here like a jerk 2 years ago to troll you all....and instead I got won over by a great fan base and have become a fan (even if I remain a bit skeptical of Allen) ....and lastly.... @Yav I really wish you were still living in KC....any chance you'll make it to the SB parade?

I put in Mecole Hardman to score the games 1st TD.....I think at +900 figured he'll possibly get a chance to return the opening kickoff, and he's involved pretty heavily on the KC offense.....seems like a decent shot. The other substantial one was KC winning by 13-18 points +900.

@YoloinOhio .....What an incredible spread! Are you smoking those burnt ends yourself? I got a brisket in the smoker right now....rubbed down with salt, pepper and garlic powder....going to pull it out after about 6 hours, chop the point into cubes and put some brown sugar in a bowl, along with some homemade KC style sauce....tomato based, a little apple cider vinegar, molasses.....Burnt ends are like candy....if beef was candy.....so freakin good. Will be drinking Boulevard Unfiltered Wheat bear...(a KC staple) The monday following the SB should be national holiday.

Super Bowl LIV -- Predict the Score.......Free Hat!
Zerovoltz replied to KD in CA's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
....You mean the No.1 Scoring D in the NFL that was also 1st in Yards against and 1st in Passing yards against? That GREAT D? The one with 3 pro bowlers in the secondary including 2 1st team All Pros? .....because the 49ers D isn't on par with that Seattle D......just so we are clear. This is how I'm seeing also..... Yes, so bad we held teams to fewer points than the....(checks notes) 49ers did this year! .....and had only 3 fewer sacks, and 4 more INTS than them....we also gave up 2 fewer passing TD than them....Allowed a LOWER passer rating against than them....but yes...KC D is pure crap. dont' forget it. KC 33 SF 19. -
Super Bowl Pregame Thread: KC vs SF
Zerovoltz replied to Hapless Bills Fan's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Mahomes in his 4 post season games thus far: 89/142 62.7% for 1188 Yards passing, 7.7 YPA ....11 TD, 0 INTS 297 Yards per game. and throw in 2 rushing TD on top of that. He's not losing this game. I know that sounds biased and arrogant......but having watched every game of his career....he's a unicorn. -
Super Bowl Pregame Thread: KC vs SF
Zerovoltz replied to Hapless Bills Fan's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
KC by double digits. SF had ZERO sacks this year on plays where the offense used pre snap motion. KC runs ALOT of pre snap motion. SF also had the 32nd ranked red zone D in the league. KC actually gave up fewer points than the miners did this year. People talk all like this 49er D is some all time great unit. It’s not. Pat Mahomes. -
I've never been to Rich Stadium (is that even what it's called now?) ....How old is it? Is a renovation a viable option? Arrowhead in KC opened in 1972....and has been renovated a few times....every once in a great while the local politicians talk about new stadiums, but that's almost always in regards to moving downtown.....and even that talk has subsided as KC's downtown has rivived nicely on it's own without stadiums. Arrowhead continues to be a really good place to see a game and the renovations have kept it that way.....no need for a brand new stadium....and in this era of more and more people opting to stay home...not sure new makes sense? IDK for you guys...taht's why I'm asking...curious what your situation is there. From afar....I always think the NFL is lurking around in the background, waiting for any good reason to move them to Toronto.

Mahomes buys entire restaurant dinner as thanks
Zerovoltz replied to PromoTheRobot's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
LOL....EVERYONE in KC knows exactly who Mahomes is. It's impossible not to. Other rumors about this same event say it was at a place called Axios in KC near where he lives.....it's somewhat fancy and known more for their french food than pizza....but I don't know for sure....could have been the local pizza hut for all I know. ...and yes I did see that you posted as j/k i will say, KC has always been VERY GOOD about letting the local sports celebrities enjoy some degree of privacy when they are out and about town. I've been in restaurants with Neil Smith, Donnie Edwards and Tony Gonzales several times and no one bothers them or treats them differently really....other than gawking some....but in general, it's like we (KC area residents) know that part of the appeal is you can be Pat Mahomes and go out and kind of have a normal time out in public. I've never been to Buffalo, but I'd guess or assume you all are pretty similar? -
I wonder what team he'll be on that you are shutting down. He'll be a FA this offseason. Maybe the Colts or Jags bring him in? Or possibly the Jets? I've never been to Buffalo. It looks like a fine town to me, but I like snow and wings. I think while the town itself probably doesn't have a great rep, the actual football team hasn't recently been a squad that most top guys would think was about to go to the SB. Maybe that perception changes if Allen takes another step and Buffalo wins a playoff game or 2 in 2020. Ultimately, 95% of guys will go if the Bills are the highest bidder.

Thanks! My predictions weren’t that good this year, but I did have KC winning it all so I might finish on good note. Also, I did post a couple pictures of my wife here somewhere. ? -

........KC gave up fewer points than the niners did this year.......(8th fewest in the NFL) KC also has a top 10 pass D. Not exactly trash. Held Travis Henry to 69 Yards last week. Pretty trashy. -

1. They were on Mahomes and heavily scouted him for 2 years and specifically were targeting him the draft. So, they were on him...but it's still not a given with any player what you get sometimes....so if you want to throw in some luck there too, I'm good with that. 2. Mahomes is going to break the bank, but KC is in good cap shape...and as it will be an extension, it's probalby pretty safe to assume that most cap hits will be toward the back end....so we are probably a couple years out from the cap squeeze.....also, this might be another stroke of luck, but the CAP is probalby going to grow pretty rapidly over the next few years as gambling revenue starts to stream in. That might mitigate the hurt just a little. but once the big numbers start to come in, yes, it will be a challenge to maintain a championship level team. i've been here for a few years now....I like it here....good active group of fans...fun to chat with etc. -

The 1984 49ers. I'll have to check, but I'm pretty sure every single member of that 49ers team is retired. I would have assumed this as well, and only responded because someone asked about his usage in KC. -

I agree.....and would add, it's only an overpay if they don't perform. He's been worth every penny. ....my smugness? By explaining that while KC doesn't have many of it's own 1st round selections, you could more or less make a case the trades they made brought them back 1st round type talent instead. Not trying to be smug, just pointing out KC did build through the draft and draft day trades, and the picks ended up working out. If we were the Jets...we'd trade guys we drafted away, they'd bust, and whatever we got for them, we'd waste. .....(smug response below).... You'll probably be tired of KC being elite for a while. KC has the following players locked up through 2021 Mahomes (MVP, all pro) Hill (Pro bowl) Kelce (Pro bowl) Fisher (Pro bowl) Clark (Pro bowl) Thornhill (all rookie team) Ward (really good) Butker (pro bowl) Hardman (pro bowl, all rookie) Hitchens (ok, he isn't good, but I listed him because he is under contract, and it's a bad one so he won't be cut) Schwartz (pro bowl) Mathieu (pro bowl) ...and others.... Basically, that's the core. Chris Jones is an FA this offseason. They will either sign him, or Franchise and trade him. The key players, stars, etc are locked in. Plus we have decent cap space. Not built hodge podge for 1 year window of success. -
I think we are pretty much on the same page here. I didn't present my point well. As far as Lamar....I remember pre draft, you were really doing your homework on the guy and posted quite a bit that you were in on him. Credit to you. I didn't think he'd be a success. I would NOT say he sucks at all. He led the leauge in Passing TD's, ran for more yards than a QB ever has...he's electric and he executed the offense they have in Baltimore about as well as it could executed. That is not a player who SUCKS. Bill Obrien.......no need to have that debate, but since I brought it up....O brien should get credit for getting some really bad QB's to the playoffs and winning some divisions with less than average QB's. They did it. He led them to it. His ideas and system were suited to make that happen. Where I think he's bad is that he seems unwavering in his ideas about his system/what a QB should be. I think theres more juice he could be getting out of that offense if he would adapt, and in the end that teams ceiling is capped at wild card round playoff team because of it.
-
Hapless, I agree with you....I could have been better about making my point....wich isn't to say situation and roster don't matter....they DO. Quite a bit. The idea Mahomes would be JA 2.0 is absurd. Even if you think the air raid is garbage, Mahomes took a TON of snaps in college and completed 63% or better of his passes, and didn't have very many INTS at all, especially considering the number of attempts he had.....Of course Mahomes landed in the absolute best spot with a ready made roster around him. I'm not denying that. What bothers me is that people (not just bills fans....Bears fans do this all the time) ....saying....oh well.....it doesn't matter....Mahomes would suck if he were on X team. I don't believe that at all. At some point you have to believe talented players can make a difference, even if the coach isn't that great etc (look at Desean Watson...he overcomes a bad coach) I'm not saying at all, that Mahomes would have ever been 50/5000 in Buffalo in 2018, but he'd have made the guys you did have look better...the line would look better...and the offense would have been better. he's that kind of guy that lifts the whole team up. On a great team....he sets records and goes to (one so far) super bowls.

KC uses him fairly often when playing strong run teams. he was prominent in the Titans game, but doesn't get alot of snaps when playing a team like the Patriots or Chargers...who throw to their backs alot. Ragland is good for one thing and one thing only....stout run defense where he attacks the gap and makes a play. He sucks in coverage. -
.........if Josh Allen was destined to be who he is now because he has McDermott as coach and Bean as GM...and the OC, players, city, uniform and all that, then WHY bother to draft him? I hate this argument. You are suggesting that if JA was drafted by the Bears, he would suck, but if he were in KC, he'd be throwing 50 TD's and for 5000 yards because of coaching and the situation. If that were the case, then Andy Reid did some of his WORST coaching between 2013 and 2017 because he sure as hell couldn't get Alex Smith to do it with the same system, with Kelce, with Hill....and Smith even had the benefit of Kareem Hunt leading the NFL in rushing and he STILL couldn't do it. KC shouldn't have bothered to trade for Smith I guess....because Reid could have just kept rolling with Matt Cassel and schemed and coached that guy into 50 and 5000 I suppose. Speaking of Cassel....he took over a Patriots team that was coming off a 16-0 regular season, that had Randy Moss and Gronk, and Wes Welker..all the same guys Brady had...and Cassel went 11-5 with that squad. Moss's numbers were way down from the year before (but amazingly, Welker, the slant/possession guy had almost identical numbers!) ....Belichick must have had an off year coaching because clearly, the player and their talent and abilty don't matter....it's the organization. That squad carried Cassel to 11 wins, not Cassel carrying them. Mahomes would be great wherever he went.....

This is a somewhat wild stat. Allow me to give it some context though. 2013 KC was drafting 1/1 in a draft that didn't have a QB (you all should know that first hand) and no big time edge rusher...so we took Eric Fisher. Frankly he sucked about the first 4-5 years of his career...he's good now. Took a while. 2014. Dee Ford. We franchised and traded him to the 49ers this past offseason. He had an up and down career in KC. 2015. Marcus Peters. Great cover guy.....bad tackler. KC ended up trading him after he and an assistant coach got into a fist fight on team bus. Got a 2nd in 2019 and 4th in 2018 from the Rams for him. 2016. KC had pick 28 and traded out of the first round with ....San Francisco... 2017. Traded up from 27 to 10....also giving up 2018 1st and 2017 3rd. 2018. Pick was traded to the Bills in 2017. 2019. Pick traded to Seattle. OK. So, let's examine what KC got out of these trades. 2014 pick Dee Ford is now a 2020 Second Round pick from the 49ers. 2015 pick Marcus Peters turned into backup Safety Armani Watts (rd 4 2018) and Starting safety and all rookie Juan Thornhill (rd 2 2019) 2016 trade out of first round plus KC 7th, for SF 2nd, 4th and 6th. That got KC, Chris Jones (2nd round) Guard Parker Ehinger (4th) Ehinger was traded to the Cowboys for KC starting CB, Charvarious Ward....and CB DJ White (no longer on team, 6th round) 2017. Pat Mahomes 2018.....also Pat Mahomes 2019. Frank Clark. So from 2013, to 2019, KC either used their 1st round pick, or traded the pick or player and that got us (KC) Fisher - Starting good LT. Juan Thornhill - All rookie impact starting S. Chris Jones - Starting stud DT. Charvarious Ward - Starting CB. Frank Clark - Pro Bowl DE. and Patrick Mahomes. All world QB. So while the stat is correct......it needs context. KC played the cards well here.- 61 replies

This shouldn't be a debate because the Bills were NOT taking a QB if they stayed at 10. Chicago should, and does catch alot of hell for what they did in that draft because they missed Mahomes and Watson. The Bills, hired Mc D on month before the draft and didn't fire Whaley until the draft was over. Mc D KNEW going into the 2017 Draft he was NOT going to take a QB high, that he hadn't scouted, or had input from the new GM on. It will never be looked at correctly, but what Mc D did, going into 2017 draft, with QB off the board, was a make an A+ rated trade under the circumstances. Considered within the context of the moment, Mc D, was able to trade back, get an all pro CB, and an extra 1st and 3rd which he and Bean then converted in some way shape or form into more impact players in 2018. It was actually a hell of a successful deal for the Bills. ONLY if the Bills were committed to drafting a QB in 2017, should this be looked on as a fail. If anyhthing the Pegulas hiring schedule may have kept the Bills out of the QB market in 2017, but the fact remains...prior to the 2017 draft, Buffalo was not going to be drafting a QB.....once you've determined you aren't taking one, the Bills did absolutely the best they possibly could have. It's a shame they get blasted by the lazy media as being "the team that passed Mahomes". the Bills weren't that team. That was the Bears, Browns, Jets, Niners, Titans, Bengals.....in fact its incredible how little crap the Bengals, picking at 9, one pick in front of the Bills/KC at 10, get for taking John Ross instead of Mahomes. History won't be kind to Buffalo for this because they happened to be the team that made the trade.

The sad thing about Watson is, that if he were the one actually running the Baltimore attack, that would be dangerous, and truly a legit threat because unlike Lamar, Watson is a good passer. I think some of the know on Watson coming out of Clemson was that he'd have some turnover issues, and wasn't the fastest study or all that good or quick at going through progressions. I think some of that has shown up in the pros, but he's way better than I, or many thought, and he is being wasted by Bill Obrien, insisting that he be a classic pocket passing type. ......wich he is good at, but why force a guy to be one dimensional, when he has 2 dimensions? Think of Allen in a scheme where they only let him be a drop back passer, and forbid the guy to run......that's what they do to Watson in Houston.
