Ragland may have just saved his Career and saved KC's D....and possibly the season itself, since Mahomes is injured (still waiting to hear what the extent of the injury is)

Zerovoltz 2019 Season Predictions

Thanks....I've always enjoyed my interactions here....and I HATE douchebags who won't eat the crow they deserve. I know I come off as a douche here and there, but I try and be objective and I'll eat my crow....bad as it tastes. ( I HATE being wrong!) -
Tyreek Hill. (FOOTBALL PLAYER) ...he's a special talent. Kelce has had some drops (that's actually been an issue his whole career) ....but other than that....not much to point to. S, Juan Thornhill....rookie 2nd rounder seems to be good and improving each game...but man, there just isn't much to point at on the KC team that's worth a damn.

Allow me to explain "how this can be". Our (KC) Defense still sucks. That was overcome last year by the offense. The offense last year had some things go their way that haven't this year. Injuries have hurt the offense. Some will point to Hill being gone....and Watkins being hurt.....again.....and that does hinder things....but the part no one nationally talks about is the O line issues. I'd have to search my posts here, I think I've alluded to this before, but KC does NOT have a good Oline. Mahomes masked problems there last year. This year, the bad O line become the WORST oline in the NFL when Fisher got injured, so Cam Erving had to start at LT, next to a scrap heap LG, who got injured, so then we had Cam Erving, next to 3rd string scrap heap LG, with Austin Reiter at C....who we also got off the scrap heap last year...he'd been cut by the Redskins and Browns...he SUCKS. The entire left side of the Oline is bad..and even when all 5 starters are healthy, KC has the worst G-C-G combo in football (we miss Morse) This has led to pass rushers in Mahomes grill most of the time...and he has had his ankle rolled and/or stepped on THREE GAMES in a row.....when you accumulate is stats in each game PRE and POST ankle roll....it looks like you would expect it to look for a guy with an injured ankle having to face a pass rush in his face and unable to run due to the bad line. Mahomes is every bit the unicorn he's been....and when healthy, and with his ankle in tact...he still can carry the whole awful team....rolled ankle, no line and injured no.1 and no.2 WR and he can't shoulder it. People will point to the Chiefs getting run on as a big problem....and I'm not gonig to tell you it's not a problem....it's a big problem....but KC has still had 9 or more possesions per game...they just haven't scored on nearly as many of thos possessions as they were last year (SEE ABOVE PROBLEMS) If the KC offense turns a game into a track meet...Mahomes can win most of those and overcome the bad D....if the O can't put up points, then the other team grinds us (KC) into the ground. It won't get much better until Fisher comes back from injury at LT and they find someone...anyone that can at least pretend to play LG. Of note to Bills fans.....our LB corps has been so incredibly bad that Reggie Ragland is very likely to be inserted as a starter. He isn't fast and can't cover anyone, but take my word for it...the LB we do have can't tackle, don't attack gaps, and just stand around as they get engulfed by lineman. Ragland, AT LEAST will identify a gap and attack....so, there is that.

I enjoy watching Allen and the Bills. .....I also enjoy reading posts here...good fans....the one thing that I find funny and very entertaining is @transplantbillsfan and his relentless attempts to rationalize and redefine accuracy. LOL.....Allen for the most part hasn't been and still isn't very accurate....there NOTHING wrong with acknowledging that its an issue...that is being worked on....it was the issue in college etc... ....If I were applying for a job as a porn star....I'd hire Transplant to write up my resume because if there was ever a guy who could make a compelling case that 6 inches is much larger than 6 inches...it would be Transplant. After converting to metric, then using a complicated set of formulas, then giving certain words, more vauge difinitions, then using google translate to convert that to mongolian, then converting back to standard measurement and english launguage again, along with a chart taking into account my blood pressure, metabolism, time of day, diet, lunar cycle and current position of Haley's comet, I am SURE that people could be convinced that I was porn qualified. Just admit Josh has work to do and needs to get better at hitting the target accurately more often. -

THIS ^^^ When he was scouted and drafted, EVERYONE said it would be a project, it would take time. ....and surprise, he's a work in progress and it's taking time. You are a year into him. He clearly has elite tools that are worthwhile to continue onward with. He has shown he can be clutch....reason to be concerned...of course...but truly no reason yet to consider going in another direction. His potential REMAINS too great at this time, to consider anything else. AFTER 8 games NEXT YEAR, you ought to know if the program needs to continue or if it's time to think about plan B. right now, you are 3-1 with a tantalizing raw talent at QB who is trying to develop. Thats not a bad spot for him or your team. -

About Mahomes: First lets revisit the 2017 NFL draft. 1. Cleveland. Rumored to be interested in a QB, but having their pick of the whole lot, opted for sure thing Miles Garrett...who has been pretty good. Cleveland also had pick 12. 2. San Francisco. PRE JIMMY G. They had no QB, but were rumored to be the no.1 destination for Kirk Cousins. They opted to trade with the Bears. The Bears, thinking someone might come up for Trubisky, wanted to secure him....this, was huge mistake. Traded picks to move up one spot and got tea biscuit. 3. Chicago. Traded with SF. SF, apparently sure about Cousins, also opted not to take a QB. They also had their choice of the whole lot before trading. Instead they go with Solomon Thomas, who has sucked. 4. Jacksonville. No one seems to want to give these guys crap here for taking Leonard Fournette instead of a QB. They still had Bortles and were paying him. 5. Tennesee. There was a Rumor KC offered a bounty to come up to 5. The titans took WR corey Davis. He hasn't done much. 6. NY Jets. I love this one. McCagnon had drafted QB Hackenberg the year before and wanted to "see what we have" with him. They took Jamal Adams instead, who has been good, but not the QB they needed badly. 7. LA Chargers. Took Mike Williams. WR Clemson. The Chargers can't really be blamed..they have/had Phillip Rivers. Williams has shown some flashes, but not exactly the impact you'd want from pick 7. 8. Carolina. Christian McCaffrey. Already had CAM...this has been a very good pick. 9. Bengals. Antother team that doesn't get near the crap they should for passing on Mahomes. Took WR John Ross. Been mostly injured for 2 years...finally playing this year. Could have had Mahomes, instead of Andy Dalton. 10. Cheifs trade up. Try and remember the wierd deal where Whaley was still in Bufalo and McDermott, a defensive coach who had only been on the job a month, wasn't going to select a QB without input from a new GM that he knew was coming AFTER the draft. If you want to blame someone, blame the Pegulas for botching their offseason. OK. Mahomes goes to KC. KC has Alex Smith. Mahomes sits. Smith starts. Lots and lots of rumors that Mahomes was balling out in practices and was ready to go by week 6. Andy made the mistake of rolling with Smith (if you want to call it a mistake..still won division title) Mahomes has credited Smith with helping to show him how to prepare for game week etc...but not how to "be a quarterback". I can't argue that if you want to say they sat Mahomes a year and that it helped....fine...I'd argue he shouldn't have sat...or should have been starting by week 8. That brings us to 2018. Tyreek Hill is a difference maker at WR. Kelce is a star TE. ....Schwartz is a pro bowl caliber RT. Eric Fisher is a JAG at LT. He made the pro bowl as an alternate ONCE. Hunt only played 8 games before KC had to let him go. His replacement....Damien Williams put up the same if not better numbers. (in 2019, Damien has been hurt and Shady, and DARREL williams have put up numbers just fine. the RB does not matter in KC) Mitch Morse played in 2018 some. KC also was starting a backup C, a 2nd string RG and third string LG by the time the year was over. THEY SUCKED. In 2019, with no Hill, the same crappy backup center. no Eric Fisher. 3rd and 4th string RB, JAGs at both guard spots...Mahomes is still tearing it up. I think most of you are convinced at this point what Mahomes is, but for the hold outs....WATCH HIM PLAY. Dont worry about the stat sheet or who you think he has for targets. He never stops looking downfield. He keeps his eyes downfield while on the move. He has very good pocket presence. ...and he can throw a football from any platform while moving forward, backward, right or left. He goes through reads quickly and has a quick trigger. That plays on ANY roster. -

Mahomes was 23/36 for 352 4TD and 2 INTs in a 40-43 loss where Brady had the ball last and they kicked a field goal as time expired. Clearly he was "bad" Mahomes was 16/31 for 295 3TD and 0 INTs in a 31-37 OT loss in the AFC title game, again....."bad" 2 games, Mahomes and the offense put up 71 points, Mahomes was 39/67 for 647 yards 7TD and 2 INTS. BB has his number. -
I'm a uniform nut......one other thing about this design I don't like besides the black for blacks sake...is the sleeve stripes. There aren't sleeves on NFL jerseys anymore and there haven't been for a long time. Many teams had stripes on the sleeves back when sleeves existed...and they've just migrated higher and higher up....now those stripes are placed awkwardly around the arm hole...and when a player is wearing the jersey, those stripes are mangled up, scrunched....they don't look good. If you took a blank jersey and designed it today, no one would think to put stripes there.
-
I read a marketing brief once (long story, just know I had a marketing brief in hand and read it) ....and it was pretty bland and boring stuff....and then it got kind of interesting when it mentioned jersey sales for sports teams (wasn't specific about what sport) .....according to this paper, the "blackout" type jerseys appeal to "low to middle class fans under age 35" ...not a shock, but it goes on to say, "black color schemes appeal to lower IQ fans" who might not otherwise be inclined to purchase a jersey. Went on to include a large section on black colored hats with sports logos selling well to that same population segment.

Josh Allen - Draft night retrospect
Zerovoltz replied to BringBackFergy's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I was on the main draft floor for that draft. I remember thinking that once it was the Bills turn to pick, I was anticipating Rosen, All the "Josh" debates here...and so much pre draft posting in here was anti Allen....I posted here right after it happened....kind of in a douchebag way.... Posted April 26, 2018 Freaking Awesome! All moves, the trade last year, and you get Allen. CONGRATULATIONS! ....it was meant as knock on the Bills and Bills fans for having endured and waited for their new QB, and you got the one most of you didn't want. Of course I've still been here and like many of you, Allen (and the fans here) won me over. I like the kid. He's fun to watch. I'm glad to see good things happening in Buffalo and I root for the Bills when I'm not rooting for the Chiefs. I am a HUGE numbers guy and I've been watching with great interest to see if the numbers guys were going to win out, or if Allen really was this kid that just never did get good coaching, was a late bloomer etc. Such a fun thing watch unfold. -
I didn't touch those spreads, but I did put 100 on the UNDER in Miami Dallas. O/U 47. I can see Dallas getting out to a nice lead and letting their physical D and run game just churn clock. I should probably go Dallas and the ponits too, but I could see something like 28-6. The under seems like the safer bet in my mind.

Josh Allen - week TWO report card
Zerovoltz replied to rayray808's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I didn't have a chance to watch the game....just reading posts around here and looking over the highlights....Clearly Allen has made strides that I didn't think he'd make. HUGE 2 road wins for you guys....Good to see it look like it's going to work out....He's a fun player to see....I'm looking forward to seeing more of the Bills when I can this year and watching Allen. Hope he can keep it up.....off to a good start. -
PFF really hates Josh Allen
Zerovoltz replied to PirateHookerMD's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Come on Hapless, Chiefs games are pretty exciting...you know Mahomes is going to put on an incredible performance....and our D isn't elite so the other team always has at least a chance. ***I ONLY READ THE THREAD TITLE*** ....I love metrics, but I don't really like PFF that much....not because of what they think of Allen, but there have been plenty of players and performances they've ranked with their system that make me scratch my head too often for me to put too much into what they say, postitive or negative. If you asked me what I thought of Allen.....nothing I saw in the game yestarday changed my mind one way or another...I feel like the Jets are a mixed bag of meh so I don't know if I watched Allen against a bad team, a good team, or a if that was a weird game. The game winning touchdown pass......to be honest, I think he badly underthrew that, and Brown, who was looking for the ball, was able to adjust and make a play on it...while the defender never saw that it was thrown short. I know that in the NFL, there are plays and QB's who do back shoulder throws on purpose on that sort of play, and if you folks here want to tell me that's what happend, then fine...I won't argue it...but to me it looked like a bad throw that was made good by Brown. Either way, Allen threw it, he caught it...it won the game...it's an important development if Allen is going to take a step forward..the team can beleive they CAN come back with him leading the way...that's more important than the semantics of if the pass was bad or not....of how his overall day was..... I'm not going to take this game and make any real judgements here...I need to see alot more snaps/game action before I come to a conclusion. -
I went with KC in week 1. Survivor is fun because sometimes you think you have a "mortal lock" and you don't....alot of the folks locking it down with Seattle had to have been scared. I went KC week 1 because it's the hardest week to survive since you don't know what you don't know.
-
It was on purpose...other reponses above saw it...you give Gase the short no impact stuff and he'll take that bait everytime. Correct game plan by the Bills.
-
If this is a topic eslewhere please delete etc...I hadn't seen it here.... Considering that Gordon has been told by the Chargers he can play on his current deal or he can seek a trade, I have thought that there aren't a lot of teams that could both afford and need a RB at this point, but Buffalo seems to be a team that meats the criteria. Would you guys want him? If so, what are your thoughts on a contract and trade compensation?
-
I can't say I'm excited about the signing...I'm kind of indifferent to it one way or the other....but if nothing else...KC gets about the best depth addition you could ask for....I suspect Ried thinks he's got something left...maybe so....I went back and watched some "shady" film today to get a look beyond the bad numbers. What I think I see: a 31 year old RB who has lost a little of that speed to the edge, but also a RB who got swallowed up as soon as the ball was handed to him....A LOT. I knew your line was bad last year...but having taken a closer look...my god....no wonder you all are so optimistic Allen can take a step forward....IF nothing else, he'll get a few more cleaner looks a game...that line was terrible....back to Shady.....the KC line is NOT a pile moving line...most of our successful running plays come off of misdirection, motion, smoke and mirrors, and not so much up the middle....sometimes off tackle. KC will put Shady in positions of succeed...we will run alot of two RB sets, motion one or both..find mathcups or get dudes to exit the box...Ried is the master at this...also...advanced metrics tell you that KC has the NFL's best screen pass game. (they should, Ried litterally coaches each player on screens to be at certain points on the field at a given time etc...KC works very hard to be good on screens) Reid likes to get all his weapons involved, so Shady will see plenty of action, but so will all the other guys....Shady will also be fresh, because Ried is going to RBBC like crazy with this group. It's a good get for us(KC) if he has ANYTHING at all left. I suspect he's got a good year of football left in him. I thought he looked decent this preseason behind your improved line what little I saw of him this preseason.
-
I can't wait to see this game...two teams that went QB in the 2018 Draft...both kind of projected in that same middle of the pack zone...I'm really looking forward to watching Josh Allen....I want to see what the whole operation looks like with the roster moves made to give Josh a better chance to perform. I'm hoping he does well and I'll be rooting for a Bills win.

KC traded Dee Ford, released Justin Houston and Eric Berry.Hired a new D coordinator Switched to the 4-3. Signed Tyran Matthieu, Bashaud Breeland, Okafor, Devin Wilson, traded for Frank Clark and drafted Juan Thornhill who all will start. Six new starters, new coordinator, new scheme, but nationally I keep reading how the Chiefs did nothing and the D is still horrible. Mahomes and the scheme make our our line look better than it actually is. We have a very good RT. A serviceable LT and JAGs on the interior line. It’s a very poor line when you want a yard by trying to move people or run straight ahead. Protecting against interior pass rush also poor. See above. Spent a ton of money on d. Had more money spent in D the last few years than the O. Offense still young and working in cheap rookie deals for Hill, Mahomes,
