  1. I look at it this way. They're showing consistency and the ability to produce sustained success, and I hope that in the 10 to 15 years that Josh Allen is in all pro quarterback that they win the Super Bowl at some point, which is much closer to the normal rate than the obvious outlier. Obviously the big if for the short term is how the offensive coaching changes are going to work out. My opinion is that Josh Allen is so good it hardly matters that buffalo and Kansas City going into next season are still going to be the two best teams in the AFC. The big picture of the team is that the culture is excellent and the bills have a proven Superstar quarterback. It's what the very beginning of a long run like the ones the Packers, Saints Steelers and Seahawks have had recently looks like and we know that Allen can play well in the postseason because we've seen it now. Fans don't like to talk about it or hear about it, but the luck factors worked out so poorly for the bills this season that even with the slate of tougher opponents, I probably hammer there over when total if they stay healthy. The first two indicators of progression or regression for any team our record in one score games in an over or under abundance of fourth quarter comebacks. Buffalo didn't win a one score game didn't have a fourth quarter come back, and that's mostly luck. Unless they don't stay healthy or Dorsey really really flops, they're going to be a better team next year than they were this year even though the slate of opponents looks harder now.
  2. Do the due diligence and hire somebody that makes sense. Dorsey is definitely going to get a look, but it's always a little hard to believe that the best guy is sitting right there in your own building without even taking a look outside. The promoted guy who was there before works a lot less often than people think. The offensive coordinator role is a huge pair of shoes to fill considering Daboll's success here at Buffalo should be taking it pretty seriously, as they seem to be.
  3. The difference between their coverage and ours largely was that the officiating crew didn't call defensive holding anywhere near as tightly as they did last week. We'd have beat the Chiefs if we were allowed to cover the way the Bengals were today.
  4. Bengals got away with getting their early on 2nd and 3rd down so there's no vast officiating conspiracy.
  5. I don't care which way it goes, as long as it's consistent through the game. Yeah we got called for holding a couple times last week when we held, but the Chiefs didn't really hold. I'd want the flag on the first one but not the second one in that Chief sequence.
  6. It's the same way our defensive backs play. If the Bengals are allowed to play sticky I don't care.
  7. With any progression to the mean in factors like fourth quarter comebacks and record in one score games, I think Buffalo's going to be a few games better next season than they were this year.
  8. It's a lot more complicated that this. The reason McDermott lost the chess game is because his corner played the wrong leverage. It wasn't play selection. The shell lineup is a disguise, and Kelce is supposed to think that the middle is going to be open. If it's an actual shell, the safeties stay closer to the deep middle and the corners are off on the outside to keep the play in front. When the ay actually develops, the safeties rotate to the outside and the corners are supposed to play the inside. The idea with 8 seconds left there is that Mahomes isn't going to be able to change the read and will either have to throw it away or throw into the double coverage. What's supposed to happen instead is that Wallace is supposed to play inside leverage and funnel Mahomes' pre-snap read toward the safety help so Mahomes either has to throw it into the double coverage or throw it away and go for the hail mary. Instead what happens is that Levi plays the outside and there's no help in the middle.
  9. McDermott isn't going to say this, but the pre-snap line up on the plate I got the Chiefs into field goal range doesn't matter because it's a coverage disguise. The play was two deep disguised as a shell. Pre-snap it is supposed to look like the middle of the field is wide open but then postnap the quarters are supposed to play inside of forced the receivers to the outside so the pre-snap read and the post-snap read don't match. The corner there is supposed to play inside leverage to force Kelce to break to the outside where there is safety help but instead the corner played the outside and Kelce got to the middle.
  10. Mahomes destroys the blitz constantly. Nobody in the league really blitzes against them except Vegas.
  11. I agree with you, but if there's an answer for Kansas City nobody's really seen it yet.
  12. They're lacking nothing. They just needed to have the ball last and didn't.
  13. Returner calls fair catch and no time comes off the clock.
  14. Anything in the air there is fair caught. Buffalo isn't taking anymore than 1-2 seconds off the clock here.
  15. They've gotta put the ball in Allen's hands more here.
  16. So far the top is covered and the line didn't hold on the only third and long.
  17. Josh checked into all of these runs though.
  18. I'm not surprised to see people choosing the browns, but like the Ravens they basically hit critical mass with injuries. A lot of the teams that underperformed this year basically didn't win the attrition battle. It's probably the Chargers or the colts or the Vikings.
  19. Hurts looks like a young QB in his first playoff game.
  20. Taking the points is correct there.
  21. I think right now the extra week makes the case against expanding any further.
  22. Allen is way too good of a passer to be compared to Favre or Newton.
  23. Where the personnel needs to be upgraded is that Buffalo doesn't have that sort of running game without heavily involving Allen, and they're not going to do that with the playoffs sewn up here.
  24. With the wind at their back Buffalo scored on 4 of their 6 possessions and the 2 they didn't score on were the end of the game and the one where they missed the 4th down after the quarter change. On the flip side, the Jets scored twice on 9 possessions with the wind. Where the personnel needs to be upgraded is they need guards who can run block so they can run in the RZ and in these wind games. As it stands, they'll have to involve Allen in the run game more but they weren't doing that today. Into the wind, defenses are going to press and hope that they don't get beat over the top since QBs can't really put air under the ball. Things got out of synch a little because Josh will go for those but the receivers won't always run them.
  25. Buffalo is 3/4 with the wind at their back and 1/8 going into it.
