I'm naive. I thought we could hold up okay w/ the injuries. This now looks exactly like the defense that lost to the Bengals and almost lost to the Dolphins last year. It looks like the D that folded w/ 13 seconds to go. We're in some trouble.
-
The no huddle works when we do it. Worked in the '90's, too. Might be time. We something different. And it needs to be kind of radical.
-
Well, if we're going to lose another division game - may as well look at the positive: the chances that the Pats get Maye or Williams probably just disappeared.
-
Losing to the Pats - it just kills me. This one will take some time. (sigh) I'm not giving up on the season. We dug a hole, we're missing some really key guys, and we do not look good. But I'm old enough to remember that a lot of teams who ended up winning titles started out pretty bad or mediocre. Playing well in December & January is what counts. We have the talent. The coaching has to improve.
-
I usually like your posting here, but read the room. We just lost a tough game. I don't know if many fans here are interested in learning how the Pats can be consistently good.
-
Pats fans used to be so smug about the few victories we got during their dynasty. Always "The Bills won their SB." Those fans are celebrating more online right now than I remember them celebrating after actual SB's.
-
After winning 6 SB's as a head coach, you'd think his legacy would be intact. And it kind of is. But, it will likely always be "he needed Brady" now. A lot of the mystique has disappeared without TB.
-
They're only similar if you use the cumulative totals for all 5 years. Not if you compare years 3-5 for both. They're not comparable QB's. The reason people make the comparison is because they are both physical runners.
-
I already said that right now, I have Mahomes ahead of him. I think I have it closer than most, but objectively, Mahomes is #1 right now. You're the one who was trying to compare Allen to Cam - which many opposing fans have done. And it's not an appropriate comparison. They're nothing alike.
-
Like I said: you come to this board looking for fans HERE to praise Mahomes & the Chiefs, and be in "woe is us because we'll never be as good" mode. You're going to be disappointed in most of what I post here as a result. And yeah - that entire 2nd paragraph - except for MVP, which JA is always in the running for - is team stuff. It's a team game. A lot of guys play. It's not golf, or tennis.
-
Did Allen play in OT? Can't recall....
-
How about the 4th quarter? How about when it counted? Allen was better that game. The D let him down. As to "what I'm talking about," you contradicted yourself from when we were comparing JA to Cam. In their 5th year, JA had better stats across the board. Cam won MVP, though - which made him "superior", per you. You come here to hear people say Mahomes and KC are amazing, and woe is us that we'll never be as good. I won't say those things, because that's not how I feel about the 2 QB's, or the 2 teams.
-
Interesting. So NOW the stats matter.....
-
Who played better in the 13 seconds game? It's close, but I'd be surprised if anyone said Mahomes. But he got the W, and Allen got the L.
-
I disagree w/ the idea that Mahomes has done "more." Prior to this season, no one disputed that Allen had to basically put the entire team on his back for a significant # of the Bills' wins. Not all the time, but quite a bit of it. No run game, a D that faltered at key times, questionable coaching Mahomes didn't have to deal w/ any of those negatives. His teams have been better constructed, and better coached. Is Mahomes "better"? Objectively, I agree w/ that one conclusion - he is right now. But "right now" is the operative term there. We'll be able to judge that better in 10 years or so. For my own part, I'd take Allen over Mahomes 10x out of 10. I didn't say Marino was the best of all time.
-
Cam put the whole team on his back, eh? They are great accomplishments. But like I said, the MVP is a relative accomplishment, as in it's relative to the competition. If JA had his 5th year the same year that Cam had his 5th year - Cam isn't winning the MVP. JA was better in every category. The SB is never an individual accomplishment. I always rejected the Brady/Manning comparisons based on that. I happen to think Brady is better overall, but it's not the slam dunk many argue because of the SB wins. Brady had one coach for 6 of those wins - and he happened to be the greatest coach of all time. Manning had 5 different coaches. Put Manning on the Pats in 2000 and Brady on the Colts, and I'm gonna guess the SB totals would be a little different for each.
-
Football is the ultimate team game. Team accomplishments shouldn't affect evaluation of QB's. So, for me - that's exactly how it works. Trent Dilfer is not better than Dan Marino.
-
Some of those stats make for a valid comparison. Team records & records in the playoffs do not.
-
MVP is a relative award, and the SB is a team accomplishment In year 5 of both careers: JA had a better completion %, more yards, better QBR, and the same # of TD's.
-
I suppose the bolded is true if you ignore JA's improvement in years 3, 4 & 5. By his 3rd year, JA was better in just about every aspect of the game. Years 3-5 aren't really comparable between the 2 players. Cam was only over 60% completion once. He was only over 4,000 yards once. He threw for fewer TD's than Allen in that timeframe, and his QBR was worse. It would be more accurate to say Cam was better in the 1st 2 years of both of their careers. After year 2, there isn't a comparison.

Your very true feelings for tomorrow outcome

I'd like to see Belichick throw a phone. Or a tablet. -
Week 7 Bills @ Patriots - on to Foxborough!

That's real trouble for the Pats. We're basically as injured as they are - but our depth and talent is so superior to theirs. We can absorb it. I don't think they can. This game should be a blowout. -
I said after the 13 seconds game that he had potential to be not just the best in the league today, but the GOAT. His skillset is so complete. He has ALL of the physical skills, all of the throws, and all of the intangibles & competitiveness. I still think that. As a possibility, of course.
-
I love Harris. I was surprised we weren't utilizing him more, but Cook & Murray have both been really good. Still, Harris is great depth.. Hopefully he's back after the 4 weeks and fully healthy. Is there a limit to the # of players that can go on the more temporary IR designation?
-
Mahomes has clunkers. Burrow DEFINITELY has clunkers. I find myself watching Mahomes, and when he makes a mistake, thinking "Allen would get slammed for that." It always seems to me like JA has much less margin for error, and when he makes mistakes, the reaction is more about "a pattern" than the fact that he's just a great player who makes mistakes or has bad games once in awhile. If I had to guess, I'd say it was because it took him awhile to become the QB he is today, and people formed opinions about him during his 1st couple of years, which were very different.
