Per Shefty - Bills “expected to lose” Poyer and Edmunds
Matt_In_NH replied to BeastMode54's topic in The Stadium Wall
I have been assuming this. I like Edmunds a lot but I don't think the Bills should pay what he will get on the open market. No matter what people say/assume, you are constrained in terms of spending and you have to make decisions. -
Defensive Coordinator Candidates…whose worth a look?
Matt_In_NH replied to Wizard's topic in The Stadium Wall
Has the guy ever coached anything? Does he want to coach in the NFL? I know his history as a player and how much coaches think of him but unless your name is Jeff Saturday you have to work your way up in coaching. And it has to be a passion cause it does not pay well for someone independently wealthy. -
Have not seen this anywhere. If he went there they would be a legit contender IMO. https://profootballtalk.nbcsports.com/2023/03/07/report-aaron-rodgers-spoke-to-jets-on-monday/

Go to Spotrac and look at their future years void money.....they wont have as much cap as other teams unless they use more void money. Also, they don't do whatever they want they have let a lot of good players, all pro players go at various times. Its true you can manipulate but it is not true there is not such thing as the cap. You can take from future years for today. How much of that you do is the question.

WR Allen Robinson available, Rams willing to eat salary
Matt_In_NH replied to Buffalo_Stampede's topic in The Stadium Wall
Depends a lot on how much salary...this seems risky, the guy has had a couple good seasons but lots of crap also. -
Will Levis, QB, Kentucky - BELIEVE IT OR NOT

I would take him off my board -
Isn’t 48-53 like in the middle of the second group? Don’t understand your statement.

Bills Rank 9th in NFLPA Team Report Card
Matt_In_NH replied to Coach Tuesday's topic in The Stadium Wall
They only got a low score because there are no folding tables left so they have to put the food on the floor. -
Words are words, lets see what his actions are.

I like the talent but not the person. Also long in the tooth for an RB and probably wants more than the bills would want to offer.

Leslie Frazier "taking a year off from coaching" per Bills PR
Matt_In_NH replied to Roundybout's topic in The Stadium Wall
I am ok moving on but Frazier deserves some respect. Over his 6 years the bills gave up the fewest yards and second fewest points in the league. The performance in big spots can be judged but he is largely under appreciated. -
That was for Poyer

Any GM of a perennial contender has to learn to make decisions to let young players go in FA who have a lot of meat on the bone left. To date, he has not done that partly given the understandable desire to keep your young talent and the Bills have had cap space to do it. They can make it work with Edmunds, but not sure they should.

Can’t go wrong with a cheap Hooker -
Again you are arguing with yourself (bolded/underlined). I think any reasonable person understood what I meant by ordinary person meaning not wealthy and famous, nice try. You have "data points"? Pretty much anyone will evaluate any job offer in terms of how it works for them including taxes. So we agree players want to play in Texas and Florida. Yet you seem to want to criticize that and call it free salary, what in the world does that mean?
-
You talk about how a rich person can have someone on their payroll can avoid paying taxes then describe an ordinary person paying next to nothing in taxes. And sure there are things athletes can do to lessen tax burden involving starting businesses and whatnot but they pay plenty. And playing for a team in a state with no income tax does attract athletes. It’s well known, agents sell it, teams sell it and players know it. It is considered when comparing offers you can bank that.

The Myth of the Bills over-focusing on defense in the Draft and FA
Matt_In_NH replied to folz's topic in The Stadium Wall
This has been my thought too since the meltdown started after the Bengals game, however someone posted an interesting article recently that broke it down in some more detail showing a point system that awards more for first round picks than later round picks. I found that interesting. You should definitely count Diggs as the 1st and 4th he did cost, that brings it in some. I do think it is overblown, just like the fire everybody crowd who wants to get rid of the coach and GM because they have failed in the playoffs. The Bills have won more games than 1 team the last three years, lets blow that up? Nah, lets find a way to get over the hump. as a 48 year old who lived the SB years, the drought and now today's run I say take a step back and enjoy the ride..this team is great, there are no guarantees they will win the SB but they have a great chance to, as good as any team does right now. Lots of big games, national games, our team and city is talked about all the time. People are a little overhyped in nonsensical criticism.
