  1. Well. 1) In Sundays game, he faced a Cover-0 blitz in his first drive. He dumped off to the TE to avoid the pressure and got a 7 yard completion. On the next drive he got the same Cover-0 blitz look and he remembered the single coverage on the outside. Instead of checking down to the TE, he went for the end zone on 2nd down for an incompletion. While the result wasn't there, the fact that he recognized the look from just the previous series and had the composure to know that he could take a shot shows a very intelligent play and the ball placement being out in front but still in bounds shows the "safety" of the high risk play. Very positive couple of plays in a limited look for the progression in such limited time. 2) He made calculated risky throws to Benjamin that could have been dangerous, but he trusted his big man to make a play. While this is going to lead to picks, it's also going to lead to some big plays, the ratio of which will determine his ceiling. 3) On the long completion to Benjamin, not only was he releasing the ball before the cut had been made, but he was able to shift his feet and hips to drive the ball with some velocity (which he had to with a DB reading the coming throw and squatting in the middle preventing a chance to make a play. The ball was released at the 38 yard line and received at the NO 35 for a 27 yard bullet in the air, you are going to make lots of plays with that arm strength and the foot work helps to make efficient use of all the power available. He may not have a rocket but he's not weak armed like everyone thinks. Will he be good? Maybe not, but the raw skills are there to be a successful QB within the West coast offense system. Let's give him a few weeks and see if that in game growth translates to a few games.
  2. Perhaps, but it makes their job easier when they know the pocket is going to be consistent.
  3. I wonder how happy the Receivers and O-line are at this news.
  4. Sunday can't come quick enough!
  5. You draft from you what's available not what's wanted. EJ Manual was trying to draft a Franchise QB that wasn't there, I would rather get a good player regardless of position.
  6. In a perfect world it would be nice to draft a high end QB in the first and then let Peterman start and look competent, then throw in the first rounder the next year and if he looks like hes the real deal you can then parlay the potential of Peterman with a solid year under his belt for a bounty of picks.
  7. And that cap space is also an asset in addition to the 6th rounder.
  8. Its only a mistake if you think the goal is only this season.
  9. Not that its an excuse or anything, but with the offense squandering wins against the Panthers and Bengals the defense has earned 2 flops to even out the contribution. Im sure its very demoralizing for the defense to stand on its head and despite turning the ball over in fantastic spots on the field struggle to squeeze a FG out of it, if even that.
  10. So if we somehow manage to win this Sunday and assuming we win the Colts game that gives us 7 wins with a decent chance with a split against Miami for 8-8 and a chance at the playoffs. How sad is that?
  11. So if you want to put in the better passer on passing plays then you might as well just keep him in. Peterman is just as good at handing the ball off for run plays.
  12. It doesn't matter what the Saints are doing, what matters is the QB read the coverage and made a good throw into a temporary window. Every play is unique and finding someone who can analyze each play efficiently is what separates the Tyrods from the (insert good passer here) Edit:. What's also missing in that video is highlighting that after he scans the impending passing window he shifts his weight and hips to load up for the throw which is great foot work but also anticipation of the coming play.
  13. It happens at work, some lady does sweet F all for the entire day but then everyone likes her and resorts to the Tyrod defense by talking up how neatly she keeps her area.
  14. Any time you have to qualify how good someone is at their job by praising what isn't their job, it usually tells you something. Imagine hearing someone say "I mean, our #1 receiver can't catch but he's one of the best jumpers in the league. Most WR can only dream of jumping so high."
  15. Sad part is, Tyrod would have probably taken a couple sacks in the same situation lol
  16. Anyone have time to compare WR targeted compared to Tyrod? (At work :/)
  17. While the QB rating would probably go down by a switch, stylistically it likely helps out everyone else on the offense. The O-line knows where the QB is going to be and that the balls going to get out quicker. The WR know to look for the ball coming out of breaks and the RB will not have to deal with a stacked box. It would also open up the screen game since the defense would have to back off since they couldn't roll with single coverage on both outside receivers.
  18. It's weird to see a QB drop back, make a read and then just throwing before there is any pressure.
  19. This is going to be a fun week. Other teams are saying it and Peterman played well in a single series. :D.
  20. I don't think McDermott or Dennison think Tyrod is any good, he's simply out there to buy time for more players to be brought in while keeping some stability at the position in the short term. It's very telling that when games are getting out of hand they keep trying to run the ball since they know Tyrod can't do the 40-50 attempts like some QB's do. With how bad the QB position is league wide you will probably still get draft picks for Tyrod if you wanted to get rid of him in the offseason.
  21. Thrilled so far with this GM and Coach duo. McDermott is doing a good job with the young players and Beane is making moves for the future which indicates he's looking towards to longer term future rather than just patching things together now. I'm sure you will all feel better when the bounty of picks are contributing on next year's roster and we have the cap space available to lock in those players.
  22. If I had to guess, they aren't going to start a rookie on the road nor are they going to bench Tyrod for a single bad game. They will likely give him the gauntlet of tough teams and if he is still struggling then they may make the switch.
  23. This is a good excuse if they are planning on moving on from Tyrod.
  24. Sad part is, we probably aren't losing ground from this game.
