  1. You are correct this is wrong as spotrak wipes out old info as soon as trade happens. I will past the correct in here in a min. Sorry! Correction is below credit to Bumbles247 100% Originally Posted by Bumbles247 http://www.!@#$.com/showthread.php?p=3464931#post3464931 You can't look at Spotrac's number for Jax and apply them to Buffalo's. First of all, Buffalo's cap hit for 2017 if they kept him was $16.4 mil. That included $9.75 million in salary, $250,000 in workout bonus, and $6.4 mil in prorated signing bonus. The $5.735 mil "hit" you're showing is how much of the base salary Jax now has to pay Dareus. $9,750,000 / 17 weeks = $573,529 per week X 10 remaining weeks = $5,735, 290. That's how much Jax would be hit with if they cut Dareus now (along with $7.35 mil of guaranteed 2018 salary). That's also the amount Buffalo "saves" this year because they no longer have to pay that portion of his salary. So our original cap hit for 2017 went from - --$9.75 mil salary ---- .25 mil workout + 6.40 mil prorated ... --$16.4 mil to - ---$4.0155 mil salary ----- .25 mil workout -- +6.40 mil prorated ... ---$10.665 mil Our 2017 cap hit went from $16.4 mil down to $10.665 mil, meaning we saved $5.735 in cap space in 2017. For 2018 you show a hit of $10.175 mil. Again, that's Jax's hit, not what ours would have been if we kept him. Jax's numbers come from MD's $9,925,000 salary + $250,000 workout bonus. If Buffalo had kept him it would have included those numbers plus another $6.4 in prorated signing bonus, totaling $16.575 mil. The cap hit we get by accelerating his remaining prorated bonus is now $14.2 mil. That means we save $2.375 mil in cap space in 2018. Moving on to 2019, again, you're looking at Jax's numbers. They can cut MD after 2018 with no more cap hits because they don't have any prorated bonus amounts charged against them. That stays with us. The $14.2 mil charge against us in 2018 comes from prorated charges of- 2018 - $6.4 mil 2019 - $6.4 mil 2020 - $1.4 mil These charges don't apply to Jax. But if the Bills kept Dareus through 2018 then released him they would still have the 2019 and 2020 charges accelerated. Meaning they would still get hit with $7.8 mil in dead cap in 2019. Now let's review- Keeping Dareus for 2017 and 2018 would cost the Bills (in cap charges) - 2017 - $16.400 mil 2018 - $16.575 mil 2019 - $ 7.800 mil By trading him the cap hits are now - 2017 - $10.665 mil ($5.735 mil less) 2018 - $14.200 mil ($2.375 mil less) 2019 - $00.000 mil ($7.8 mil less) Yes there is dead cap space. And there are plenty of arguments about whether the amount we are saving is worth losing the player. But we are not losing any cap space by this trade. We are gaining.
  2. Beane leads the league in trading players he was not shopping. Like that makes any diffence when you screw up a trades like he does.
  3. That is good. Very good. You are a problem solver. He would have been self deprecating by calling himself(and owners) the circus. I think this statement would have gone over unnoticed.
  4. If a white owner said this in relation to a group of white employees, all the white employees would understand the context and normal use of that statement just means you can not always let the employees run the company's big decisions. It would not resonate at all with them as being insensitive, racial, or political, and would just be an innocent common description. McNair has to be smarter and know his minority audience and not use those sensitive comments they might consider insensitve. That is the sensitive political and racial environment we live in right now. Owners need guidance on public statements.
  5. nice info. It appears a backward pass(also called lateral) becomes a fumble when it hits the ground for statistical purposes but is treated as a live ball in application during a play. Therefore the two minute rule is null and void.
  6. Bottom line is fans and media don't appreciate being lied to. Especially for a hot button issue like the reason for protests taking place in NFL during anthem right now and the racial tensions from Charlottesville. Protest that has mushroomed into the spotlight even more since Boldin got on the case. (no I do not think he is responsible for that mushroom) Yes I know his foundation is old and for underprivileged kids. It is not a stretch that he would expand it to include his new activism. The activism he apparently is putting on hold just when he would be needed the most to get back on the field for a contender. He is a fraud. I would not give anyone a pass for being fraud. It strikes me just as unusual that anyone else would give him a pass either. As far as looking into a charity financials. I do that anytime I consider a donation to a charity. You should try it. It is an eye opener how little they spend the donations on the intended recipients. Vast majority of donations only pays the salaries of the charity employees and the cost of soliciting donations.
  7. Why do you care what I care? I was just presenting facts. The financials from his foundation prove he is not doing what he said was the reason he quit the NFL. Draw your own conclusions.
  8. If Brady was really smart he would have retired long ago to save his brain from repetitive brain injury. His spouse makes more than he does and he could focus on his health promotional business. So like you said he does not need the money from NFL.
  9. It has been running for a few years. He has done nothing to help with this social justice cause he says he is focused on. A weekend flag football tournament and a fun day and a grant to a FL prep school, is not doing anything to slow down cop on black, cop on white, black on black, violence in country.
  10. His foundation has done jack squat so far. All they do is spend a little on some weekend get togethers for inner city youth and pay salaries to all the workers.
  11. That is the most complete, inexplicable, devastating, horrendous, inexcusable, absurd, overexaggeration, ever uttered in the history of the human spoken word. and it is racist.
  12. Emmitt won awards for injuries derisively called Emmys. He would go down in wreathing pain every game at least once, get helped off and return after one play out. Like a clock. At the sports bar I use to frequent we played a drinking game to this.
  13. Would beano be tempted to ship Lawson to them for a 2020 7th round pick?
  14. Their is no getting out from under his contract. He is dead cap walking whether in trade or cut.
  15. Does Schefter even do research? Trading Mr Big Stuff does not clear dead cap in 2018. It creates dead cap for 2018.
  16. respectively.........are you even paying attention? McDerma and beano hate Whaley Rex guys... they don full body protective gear every time one of them enter the room. thank you some people never look at that. Watkins Stephon Gilmore Mike Gillislee Darby when healthy Zach Brown Woods Goodwin Seymour Graham Bradham Nickell Robey-Coleman EJ Manual Bryson Albright Leger Douzable if Bills still had Gillislee Watkins ZBrown Seymour and R-Coleman they would be playoff lock. This has to be a NFL historical record for # of players to end on one team roster get cut or traded and start next yr for new team. Numbers don't lie here. best response here from you would be.........crickets.
  17. He said basically he did not care when he got beat for a sack. Because he was thinking of his contract and that he was underpaid. He had a horrendous part of that season where he was rated one of the worst LT in NFL. As we know he is a HOF LT so he is low character as he mailed it in when on Bills and could have resulted in Bills QB injury. If that is not low character then Webster Dictionary needs to redefine the term.
  18. Good analysis. I liken stats like this differently. I look at good games vs bad games. Think like that MLB player who bats .235 all year until last 5 weeks of season goes on a tear and ends up at a good .289 avg. He was not a .289 avg guy all year. He sucked most of the year. But he was clutch as he got hot on playoff run when he was needed most. Jury is still out on Bills DB's, can they get hot when needed most? Can't wait to find out when they get healthy. Meanwhile pass rush needs to step up. Bills secondary has had more good than bad so far so hope that continues.
  19. I would bring back Salas. He was fine before injury.
  20. Does not matter. Philly still going to Super Bowl to face KC. unless LAR have a St Louis Rams Super Bowl luck/skill type of season and sneak past Philly in NFC Championship. I am sure Beano right now is looking for a way to strengthen Philly's OL as we speak. Glenn Henderson or other likely called in for physicals as we speak.
  21. agreed lol. what a f'd up process this is. meanwhile Seymour is starting in Carolina.
  22. Speaking of snarkey. Could it get any worse than the scoreboard screenshot, of 28-3 score at Super Bowl last yr, professionally made huge banner hanging behind end zone at Cheatriots game vs Falcons Sun night. Someone spent some money to troll. was in plain site especially during the egregious back to back defensive PI non calls Patriots got away with on a potential TD drive that would have changed the tone of that game completely.
