Yea this is a pretty bad fumble. I know JI was nothing special defensively, but he could hold down the CB role and is a real good 'teamer. Lost him for potentially nothing.

He has a 16% missed tackle rate and allowing 75% completions. This isn't a loss. Shocked Beane even tried.

Tre, Bishop, Benford, and Lewis have completion percentages under 60% this season, Hairston is under 50%.

Probably deserves it's own thread: Tre White hasn't allowed more than 2 catches or a completion percentage of more than 50% since October 5th. Give that man his flowers.

To actually answer OP's question: I'd be sad, honestly. I like McD as a human and think he's a rock solid B+ coach, who's been an A- before. I completely acknowledge that there isn't much left in the "what else he can try" bucket. Do not fire him until there is an A-level coaching candidate available, though. I will stand by that. I'll take Year 9 over Tomlin, McDaniels, or Daboll. The months/weeks in-between McD and his replacement will honestly be pretty terrifying, but I'm sure we will find ourselves supporting whoever gets hired regardless of who it is. Like Tomlin, McDaniels, or Daboll.

Tre Day has had a low key, very rock solid 7 games. Tre as our Dime and primary backup at outside CB is an interesting thought.

A lot of people are critical of the whole same play thing, I'm fine with it in rare occasions. OL beat up, QB beat up, can't stop it so just keep doing it. The worry is he will spam a playcall when it's not working, or in a critical moment when everyone knows it's coming. 4th and short, playoffs, I wonder what play they will call?
