  1. Absolutely hate this. I actually think you have created a bigger issue and an incentive to tank. Additionally - I think the NFLPA would hate this. You are incentivizing salary and veteran player dumping. You have basically made it so teams that are paying players have a significantly reduced chance at getting young cheap talent. Teams that are losing would be looking to dump as much salary as possible to increase the amount they can spend in the draft. Have a veteran RB at 1 million a season - get rid of him so you can buy an extra player. Plus without a known draft pick - how are teams trading - are you trading open money slots? You want to fix the tanking problem - create a lottery - and not like the whimpy NHL or NBA lottery. Assign points based on point differential, wins, and include wild card teams if you want. You must also get a minimum of 1 win to even have a shot at an early pick. Zero wins and you are automatically slotted at 23rd in the draft just in front of the division winners that go in playoff order - 24 through Super Bowl champs. An 8-8 team with a + 32 point differential would be given a much higher shot at the first pick than a 1-15 team with - 75 point differential. You can give percentages for each win and every 10 positive points. So the 8-8 might have 10X higher chance of getting the pick. It would make teams compete to be good and teams would not want to just dump players for picks because you have no idea where teams will end up. Miami would not get rid of all of the players because it hurts their draft position and Houston would want to be more careful because if then end up doing well, but not winning the division- they might be trading the number 1 pick. In reality I do not have an issue with tanking yet, but there are better ways to fix the issue.
  2. Looks like a few small issues to start the league.
  3. If after due diligence that is all - I might kick the tires - especially if after this year he becomes a FA and you can maybe get a pick out of this. He would give you the speed on the outside with a better catch radius. It may also work out if someone gets hurt around that time.
  4. Does this mean they are expecting something from the NFL - another suspension? Seems strange with the timing that just as he is coming back they do this - not a week or so ago. Not sure I do anything until I am sure of the whole story.
  5. In the end the fix seems so simple - anytime the flag is thrown the clock stops (if it was running) and the team accepting or declining the penalty has on option to either leave it stopped or have the refs wind the clock with an automatic 10 second run off (or longer up to 30 seconds if you want) for the delay. That way the Jets while behind - they can still decline the penalty, but have the clock stop. Conversely - if the Jets were ahead and there was a false start (like the second Pats penalty) - the Jets could accept or decline the penalty, but they could choose to wind the clock and there would be a 10 second (or more) run off as a penalty. @papazoid - I agree - I think this happened to Belichek before and he wanted to expose it and use it to embarrass someone in the AFC east and was happy to do it to the Jets and Gase/Williams.
  6. I really do not understand this thread at all. Why would we shorten the game - where is the option for 20 minute quarters. Want nothing to do with shorten the game. I also like the breaks to grab snacks or hit the bathroom. The timing is fine right now. I DVR the game (and others) and we watch what we want and skip commercials as wanted. Just leave it alone.
  7. You are assuming Gase knew that the time would run. My guess is that Gase had no clue and even if the game was close - He still declines the penalty because the delay of game and the false start are trying to give the punter more space to drop the punt inside the 10. The fact is most people assume the clock stops with the penalty flag and Gase does not strike me as a coach that understands things.
  8. Not necessarily- teams decline that penalty all of the time so they do not give the kicker the extra room. If it had been a close game - this would be a huge issue, but it becomes a teaching point because it was a blow-out.
  9. Why would you care you have not discussed Allen - just spewed negative garbage to help some learn - I believe that was how you put it. I could not care less what you post if you are honest because that leads to discussion, but just posting negative because that is how people learn is nothing but trolling and that is against the COC. Why would I want you to be more like me - what I want is to understand the ridiculous comment stating that you do not post good comments only negative because negativity is how people learn. Then you follow that up with you know JA doesn’t listen to you - so my question remains who is supposed to learn something through your negative posts? If you actually engaged and had content and discussion - it would be great, but just being negative as other have said in this and other threads (see spitting thread) is just a crusade to be negative. If you want to rail against fascism, “groups of people” that are against you, freedom of speech, and “deep state agenda’s” then take that to PPP. Have Fun
  10. Nice response - take it to PPP.
  11. Not to complain or pile on, but this makes literally no sense. I get you do not want to gush and focus only on the negative, but who are you trying to improve? You say you realize that Allen does not care what you say - so you are not trying to improve him with your negativity. The only person you can improve is yourself - so if what you say is true you should really focus on your posts - focus on your negative comments - and then try to improve yourself. If what you said was total BS and you just enjoy focusing solely on the negative for your own enjoyment - then it makes you more of a troll - rather than a valued member of the community and you should be banned once again in my opinion - the mods can decide that. In the end - fandom is what it is, but you the fan have the ability to improve and be honest in your opinions - not just negative to push an unknown agenda.
  12. I honestly think the best thing they could do at this point is give Jones a couple of weeks on the bench to regroup. I think the young QBs need some live fire and then can really benefit from a few weeks off - watching and studying film to see what is happening. Then get them back out for several weeks and then pull them back again. It shouldn’t be tied to performance- just give them a quick mental break to allow them see and better understand the game. The NFL game is so fast and so complicated- but mostly there are few weeks of downtime to allow the brain to assimilate everything you have seen.
  13. If he threw to soon - it should have been way in front - not behind the WR. Looked like good rhythm- just two guys with different reads on the play.
  14. Totally agree here. Looked like the PA was designed to keep the LB toward the middle of the field. Josh is looking at the CB - if he stays outside - you have a quick hook up there for 5 yards and a first down. Josh put it right where he expects Cole to hook up and Cole pushes the route farther to the middle - so the pass is a bit behind. In reality only the WR/QB/OC will know for sure, but that is my read based on how quickly Josh was getting that pass out.
  15. On-side was recovered on the same day by Chicago and they nearly got a second on-side recovery - minus the guys toe being out of bounds as he recovered it.
  16. Chicago just got an onside recover in their game. I think that is the first of the season.
  17. No rule change - the recovering team can advance and score - has happened 11 times since the 70’s. The Kicking team can not advance it - if they recover it - it is down where it is recovered.
  18. This in my opinion is always a bad look for the team.
  19. You could be right, but I think they really like Feliciano and Long and if Ford finds more playing time at guard - you have the option to let Spain walk. He was on a 1 year “prove it” contract. The Bills have a number of FAs this year (smart job by Beane with a lot of Short contracts) and I think they will be close as I think they would rather get talent in the draft. I think they will have a chance to get a comp pick, but they need to lose value to make it worth it. That is where a player like Drake would be nice, but only if you get assurances from his former teammates that he can settle into a RB by committee role.
  20. I find this stuff to be fascinating. I only think it is a bad look for the Jets because the player specifically got the info released to look that way. In reality - it does not seem the Jets are wrong in this - they diagnosed the issue and through either interview or pre-trade means - assessed that the damage was there prior to the trade and that he played through it before and earlier this year. The player wanted a second opinion and the Jets allowed it and the second doctor agreed with the first. The player in being benched (partially due to the injury perhaps or maybe he because he is not that good) decided he was done with the team and went out and found additional doctors that gave him the opinion he wanted - which if I remember from previous cases is against the CBA and his contract without the approval of the team. I understand the pain and frustration- especially at being benched and wanting to get this cleaned up to be ready as a FA, but my guess is if the Jets were winning or he was still starting - he hums a different tune here. This smacks of a player frustrated with his role and results and a team looking more at the small picture rather than the big picture. The team could take the high road as the player is not part of the long term plans and let this get done, but they have chosen to fight it and although I do not think they are wrong - I think they lose more than they can win. Sometimes it is just better to look at the big picture and say - ok let’s put you on IR and get you cleaned up and let’s poach a PS player that maybe is not as good, but has a future. I see similar issues with the Bengals and Cordy and Jacksonville and Ramsey.
  21. I would rather grab his arm - not his nuts - if you don’t mind. This is not a football pile-up here. ??
  22. I don’t know exactly what the Dolphins are looking or in return, but I would be talking with Frank Gore, Jordan Phillips, and Vincent Taylor about how he would fit in and how he was in the locker room. The Dolphins are going to lose him for nothing because of the number of FAs they are going to need as part of the rebuild. If the Bills could get him for a conditional pick 5th becoming a 4th if he re-signs then I would be fine. If he walks after the season - Buffalo may have a shot at Comp picks for him and Spain. Don’t know if they will deal in division or not, but if the former teammates think he can fit in - then I think it would be an upgrade at this point.
  23. To me this is a good reason to trade for him from Buffalos perspective- especially if they plan to resign their own and not spend big on FA. Trade a 4th or 5th - use him to get better this year - try to sign him at a reasonable cost or let him walk for a potential Comp pick. You can recoup most or all of your cost, but you have to know what your plan is for next FA to make this work.
