Glenn only played three games last year and Dawkins was fine at LT, Groy is capable of filling in at center or guard we added Bodine and Newhouse and Miller could rebound. The loss of wood and Incognito hurt and there are question marks, but shambles it a bit of an exaggeration. An interior lineman can easily be found in mid rounds. There is also time to add a free agent between now and when the season starts. Edit-I am more concerned about wide receiver, Kerley is a nice veteran but should not be the second best option on a team.

RD1, Pick 7: Josh Allen QB - Wyoming
dgrochester55 replied to SDS's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Your vast experience on this board makes you an immediate authority. Since you know for a fact that Allen and Rosen would have been there at 12, you clearly have an in depth perspective that most NFL GM's do not have. Please grace us with your extensive knowledge and tell us what you would have done different. -
Would Allen have been there at 12?
dgrochester55 replied to Awwufelloff's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Clearly the answer is no. Teams do not give up draft picks for fun. There was a market for Allen and Rosen, plus the chance of Miami picking them. We needed to trade up to get someone. I think the front offices in the NFL know a little more about the draft than the sudden outbreak of amateur keyboard analysts that come out of the woodwork after draft day? Was Allen the right guy? I'm worried about that, it remains to be seen. We all knew coming in that Buffalo needed to trade up and give up picks to get one of the top quarterbacks in this class. I do not know why this is such a huge surprise to everyone. -
Why all the picks for a project QB?
dgrochester55 replied to Niagara Dude's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I have my worries on Allen, but I do not get why people are saying "we shouldn't have traded up to seven because only Miami needed a QB" Clearly other teams were going to trade up. Even after Buffalo, Arizona traded up for Rosen. That is two teams right there that wanted to trade and MIami as a threat to draft a QB ahead of Buffalo, plus whoever else wanted to trade up that you didn't hear about. Regardless of competency level, no front office of a team is going to give up extra picks without a valid reason. The reality is, if Buffalo waited at 12, none of the top 4 quarterbacks were going to be left. -
I'll admit, I wasn't impressed in the games that i watched him in college, but I am on board now that he is on the team. I would have preferred Mayfield or Darnold, but like him better than Rosen. One positive is that is he is not ready right away, we have McCarron. I feel like we will get one extreme or another with Allen. I don't see him being serviceable or average. I see him either being a long time pro bowler of complete bust, no in between. Hoping for the best

Disadvatages of Kerley- Coming off suspension, Getting older in years, should not be relied upon as top 3 option. Advantages of Kerley- Return Skills, Some success at slot in the past, does not think he is lizard.

So does the pet store owner in Orchard Park. The amount of Rats and Guinea pigs sold to the Bills team caterers during the season was putting his kids through college.

If Bodine and Newhouse are poorly rated that is a different story. Some high draft picks on the oline may be needed then.
-
Losing Incognito hurts, but the line has been worse before. I have to plead ignorance on Bodine and Newhouse, they seem to have plenty of starting experience, but how good are they? Unless they are notoriously bad, Dawkins, Bodine and Newhouse would be 3 of the 5 spots. Groy and Ducasse are servicable and Miller could rebound with a new offensive coordinator. Add a couple of draft picks to that mix, and it may turn out decent.

Edelman w help does something good..
dgrochester55 replied to PatsFanNH's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I do not like Edelman in general, but he did a good thing here. He deserves credit for that. -
Does this mean that Bennie Anderson was mad when Losman was playing instead of Holcomb in 2005? Kidding aside, I doubt it. I just think that he was completely out classed by two really good players. After watching the video he says "he literally didnt block me" Doesn't mean the same as "he didn't even try to block me" These players are professionals and trying to maintain their career. If it ever got out that he let a player walk by him to hit a quarterback, his career would be instantly done. Mills is a bad player but not a stupid one.

What is your biggest Bills FA mistake
dgrochester55 replied to BisonMan's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I would also go with Dockery. There were many bad lineman signed by the Bills in the mid 2000's who were worse, but the price that was paid for him was laughable. Pairing him with the Langston Walker signing did not make it look any better. That was a bad off season, Who remembers the Darwin Walker Saga that happened in that same year? -
Only post if you want to wish zay the best. Get well.

Right now it is more of being concerned for someone as a human being than "are they going to be a good player". We all know what happened with James Hardy. I hope Zay Jones turns out ok, even if that means not taking another snap in the NFL again. -

Cordy Glenn traded to bengals

Ladies and gentleman, we have two very strong entries to start the new game of "How Brandon Beane can lose an entire fan base on one day." -
Cordy Glenn traded to bengals
dgrochester55 replied to FluffHead's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I like this trade. If you go by the draft value chart 21 to 12 is 400 points which is about a mid round 2nd pick. To move up to top 3 from 12, you would probably need to give away the 12, 22 and at least a 2nd rounder. Now getting to 3 is suddenly doable without forfeiting an entire draft. -
Bills interested in Sam Bradford
dgrochester55 replied to FluffHead's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Maybe as an understood backup or stop gap, but this would be a disappointment to me. Out of the choices discussed, it would be my least favorite. He wouldn't be quite good enough to count on for long term success, but just good enough to expect a commitment as a starter and a large contract. Even keeping Tyrod would have been better than going with Bradford. -
3rd Teir Bridge QB do u prefer

Anderson. Perfect balance of not being confused as a starter but good enough where if our draft pick got hurt for a few games or wasn't ready yet, the season would not seem like it was over. -
Sal C’s “Dear Browns fans....” about Tyrod Taylor
dgrochester55 replied to YoloinOhio's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Browns fans will love Taylor at first because even though he is too hesitant at times, he makes minimal mistakes. I saw a couple of Browns games and saw a bit of them on Red Zone. Kizer could move the ball but was incredibly mistake prone. Many Browns games were competitive until somewhere between late 2nd and early 4th where a boneheaded mistake, usually by Kizer would happen and cause things to unravel. Tyrod's game managing style will be a welcome change This has applied to Bills fans often during the drought We had 2 years of Losmans 100-150 yards to Evans and 30 to everyone else in a game and got sick of it. When Edwards came in his "checking down" was seen as finally spreading the ball around, managing the game and using his tools. It was a welcome relief until no progress happened in two years and we started knowing him as Captain Checkdown After we saw too many 20/25 140 yds games, we got sick of it and in came Fitz. We loved Fitz because he wasnt hesitant, threw the ball around with reckless abandon and even though there were turnovers, we were finally getting 300 yard games and points again. After two years with no progress we started calling him Pickspatrick, he was gone and the cycle repeated with others afterwards. For at least the first 8 games Taylor will be the greatest thing since sliced bread according to Browns fans. -
THE ERA OF NATE HAS BEGUN
dgrochester55 replied to Wagon Circler's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Agreed, the Nate Peterman era is now here. I just wonder what the greatest memory of the Peterman era will be between now and when it ends next Wednesday shortly after 4PM? -
It was time to move on and I have faith that there will be an upgrade, but this thread was pointless. No need to knock a guy who gave three starter calibers years here. Keep in mind that our choices in 2015 would have otherwise been EJ Manuel and Matt Cassel These last three years could have definitely been worse at QB.
