Say shady is out. Tyrod RB1, Peterman QB1?
dgrochester55 replied to Vod Kanockers's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Um no, but this brings up a good question. If McCoy is done, what are the rules for signing someone when in the playoffs? Does being in the playoffs limit what they can do as compared ot the regular season? I honestly do not know this. I would assume that they would need to add someone even in they have faith in Murphy and Tolbert.. -
Taylor is an average QB and Buffalo is likely a 7-10 win team with him. It could be worse, look at the Peterman start, the 2015 London Jags game and week 17 last year, and that will give you an idea of the difference between average and horrible. Buffalo would be smart to draft and develop a quarterback, but dumb to ditch Taylor for at least another year or two.

Did You Cry When the Bengals Won?
dgrochester55 replied to Gugny's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
No, but I would not blame those who did. Had I been with a couple of friends who I have watched years of Bills losses with, it may have been a different story. Once Baltimore took the lead, I had resigned myself to another year out. When Boyd got the TD on 4th down, I was stunned but in a good way, had to process it for an hour and tell myself that this was not going to somehow be reversed. Great first year for McDermott. There are some needs in the offseason, and a franchise QB should be drafted(keep Taylor until the new QB is ready) but a system with a winning culture is finally in place. As far as this year, it is found money from here on. Anything else is bonus. I actually think the Jags game is winnable. -
I was a BBMB refugee. I loved the board for the most part but it went downhill really fast in the last few months. Many good posters would "disappear" and towards the end it was Kellyto83td starting the same exact "don't resign Tyrod" thread multiple times a day, 2/3 of other threads started by one other member and bickering with no substance. I never had a personal run in with the mods but found it strange how some posters disappeared for almost nothing while others clearly trolled and/or personally attacked people daily without any consequence. It seemed like some players/coaches/staff were not allowed to be criticized while it was open season on others every day. Very inconsistent mods towards the end. This board has less posting but better overall quality. I've done more lurking than posting here(less than 200 posts in 10 months) but have enjoyed the experience. Glad to be here and hoping we get in the playoffs today. Maybe the closing of the BMBB was needed to break the playoff curse.

Will The Drought End Tonight?
dgrochester55 replied to The_Dude's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Depends on what Goodell wants and tells the officials in the four games to do. You would think that the fans would rather see an underdog story than another routine Baltimore or Tennessee team but Goodell wants large market teams with well known quarterbacks. He also loses a yearly story/punch line if Buffalo snaps their drought. Taking that aside, I have a feeling that Buffalo wins but misses out. Baltimore will likely crush Cincinnati and I don't see both Tennessee and San Diego losing. This has been a good start for McDermott. No one expected more than 6 wins this year but it is the first time in over a decade that a Bills game meant something in week 17. -
Peterman - Bad Passes vs. Catchable Passes
dgrochester55 replied to Gugny's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Although you cant truly evaluate a quarterback in these conditions, Peterman was certainly better today. I remember one pass being off but everything else was good. Peterman and Benjamin were on fire at the end of the second half. He was doing well before his injury especially considering the conditions. -
Mike Evans got a one game suspension for less. In my opinion Gronk should be suspended for however long White is out plus two extra games. Knowing the NFL, what will happen is. Hughes-Two game suspension for yelling at ref Hyde-One game suspension for pushing Gronk after Gronk did hit on white Gronk-500 dollar fine As you can tell, I have lost all faith in the NFL to have any level of fairness.

Taylor is not a very good Qb but he is a starter. There is a clear dropoff between mediocre starter and not fit to play, we saw this today. Maybe Peterman has potential, maybe he needed to develop, but he was worse than anyone on the bills ever at QB. That is right, JP Losman, Jeff Tuel, Matt Kofler, Billy Joe Hobert, Vince Ferragamo, Bruce Mathison and Brian McClure were Tom Brady compared to this. You have to stick with Taylor and sign a veteran backup in case he gets hurt, then you draft a first rounder next year. Peterman for any reason should not be anywhere near an NFL field again in 2017.

A few random thoughts on blowout #3
dgrochester55 replied to BmarvB's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I feel like McDermott lost this team. The Saints are on fire, but the other two blowout were to teams that are not very good. Buffalo had beaten better teams than the Jets and Chargers. Something happened, the team has shut down on him. It does not help that he seems to be in complete denial during the press conference. Buffalo is 5-5 and this is looking like a year where 9 wins, maybe even 8 is a wildcard. Even with that, Buffalo has never seemed so far away from making it. As the great Jim Mora quotes "PLAYOFFS?!!! I'd be surprised if we win another game this year ." I understand that they were intended to rebuild this year but when you are 5-2 you roll with it and not sabotage your way into a rebuilding year like the management seems to have done. -

Gameday Thread 1st Half Bills @ Chargers

I already stopped watching. I am not going to watch a team that was 5-4 and had the 6th spot but still decided to concede the season earlier in the week. -
Nathan Peterman to Start this Week.
dgrochester55 replied to 26CornerBlitz's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
This is not a good comparision. Brady is ONE example of this in 30 years. There are dozens of inexperienced late round rookie quarterbacks that aren't ready. Brett Hundley, Bryce Petty, Matt Flynn, and that is off the top of my head, how many have been forgotten? Different scenario, in early 2001 the Patriots were not supposed to contend. Brady started out of sheer necessity when Bledsoe and their backup at the time(Huard) both got hurt. They were not a contending team, they were not 5-4 with a healthy starter. The benching would make sense if there was a 1st or 2nd round pick waiting in the wings or even if you had a veteran like Glennon or Hoyer and wanted to give the team a spark. Just because you have a second quarterback on the roster does not mean that they area a lock to be any better. I support Peterman now and will be cheering for him on Sunday. , I hope I am wrong and that he does well, I just see it as more likely to be a disaster than not. -
Nathan Peterman to Start this Week.
dgrochester55 replied to 26CornerBlitz's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Dumb move, just plain dumb. Yes, Taylor looked bad but the offensive line and defense are atrocious over the last two weeks. This might make sense if we were 2-7 but this is a 5-4 team and they are starting a 5th round rookie who barely has 50% completions when playing in preseason and garbage time. Taylor needs to get better, but the line has been disgraceful over the last two games, at least Taylor can run, Peterman stands no chance behind that turnstile factory. Despite the rough last two weeks, Buffalo could potentially beat fellow wild card contender San Diego, be 6-4 and right back in the thick of the hunt with four division games left. That is not a time to mail it in. This is going to backfire big time. -
Kaepernick's Lawyer Tweets He Will Be Signed...
dgrochester55 replied to Big C's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Kaepernick's best chances are in Denver or Green Bay. Both of those team are in the playoffs this year if the QB play is even average. Right now, the current QB level for both teams is nowhere near that. One could argue that a QB with superbowl experience and some success in the past can't be worse than what Hundley and Siemian are doing now. This would assume that he has stayed focused enough to stay in football shape and quickly learn a system this year. -

Typical argument from that camp, take a differing opinion from yours and immediately jump to the most extreme conclusion. -
Beane says no moves expected
dgrochester55 replied to The juice's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
It's like when I was 11 when I got a Nintendo for Christmas. my parents told my brother and I not to expect much for Christmas because money was bad, after a couple small presents and "time to go upstairs and get ready for church", we went back downstairs to see the Nintendo system -

Sad thing is, there would have been ten posters and two threads saying this on the old Buffalo Bills Message Board. -
Beane says no moves expected
dgrochester55 replied to The juice's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
The only thing I wanted to see was a backup running back. Receiver and Tight end were the big talk, but Thompson and O'Leary have filled in pretty well. If McCoy get hurt, this team is suddenly in trouble. Mike Tolbert is not geared for 20+ carries a game. -
Dareus traded to Jacksonville!
dgrochester55 replied to HappyDays's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
This is fine, we are off the hook on a monster dead space contract. Dareus has all of the talent in the world but does not care. By 2019, Darues will be right where Mario Williams is now. I see this as free 6th round pick. -
Zay Jones please read
dgrochester55 replied to Buffalo_Stampede's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
This isn't a mistake here and there, he is dropping passes at an NFL record high rate in the last 25 years. The team is not in a full blown rebuild, they are 4-2. If they were 0-6, I would say, keep him out there and see what he can do. Because they are 4-2, Matthews/Thompson or even Matthews/Tate gives them a better immediate chance. This doesn't mean I say cut him or let him sit on the end of the bench. Give him chances when the other starters need a break or if is a 3, 4, 5 wr formation. As he gains confidence, give him more chances. -
Zay Jones please read
dgrochester55 replied to Buffalo_Stampede's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
If it is mainly on Taylor, than why have Nick O'Leary, Deonte Thompson and Brandon Tate had flashes of recent production while Zay has only been consistent in not producing? Jones is not ready, period. Doesn't mean that he is a bust, just that he maybe has no business starting yet. Give him time, Eric Moulds was seen as a bust until year three. -
Two weeks ago according to some, it was 1) Peterman 2) Brady 3) Rodgers 4) Brees 5) Everyone Else 6) Tyrod

Same here. I almost turned the TV off after the Evans TD. The more often that Buffalo can win like that, the better our chances o breaking the playoff curse before the decade ends. Tampa bay lost the game in the same fashion that Buffalo lost games over the last two years with Rex coaching. It is nice to finally be on the other side of that.
