  1. Group think is Rampant everywhere. If you take a middle ground stance on something, 40 percent of the country will be furious at you one way or the other. Conspiracy theories are generally exaggerated version of things that people should be concerned about. Unfortunately, some people on the left are willing to call any deviation from media reported status quo a conspiracy theory. In the same way, some people on the right will call any belief system different from theirs "woke". If people stopped calling people overused buzzwords to demonize opponents and talked things out more, the world would be a better place.
  2. The most memorable Bill is Reich with Fitz as a close second. The best as far as most talented was Diggs. It ended poorly, but his presence was a big part of the Bills success under McDermott.
  3. Maybe as a low risk/low cost flyer to see if he can add anything like we are doing with with K.J. Hamler, but not for anything more than that.
  4. I can't imagine if there was social media during the times of the Bickering Bills.
  5. Earthquakes, TBD Server Maintenance, Total eclipses, Human Sacrifices, Dog and cats living together........
  6. A textbook example of how numbers don't always tell the full story.
  7. I agree with both of these statements. McDermott gutted the team and game as close to starting from scratch as you could without being an expansion team. I remember that at one point in early 2017, before free agency started, there were only about 30 people officially on the Bills roster, including futures contract players. From there, two more key players in Watkins and Darby were traded before the season started. By 2018 there were very few people left from the previous regime. The 2016 roster had talent but a weak culture. That wasn't all Rex Ryan's fault, it was an accumulation of five mediocre coaches over 16 years, but Rex was not likely to change that. The talent was less in 2017, but the people brought in believed in the system. "Trusting the process" might be stale to some now, but it was what was needed to get out of the drought.
  8. McDermott's in-game management is questionable, but he was Vince Lombardi compared to Ryan's game management. Who can forget the penalties, including one or two for 12 men on the field every game? There was a lackadaisical culture, and Rob Ryan's defenses made almost every quarterback look like Allen or Mahomes. There was no culture, and most of the more talented players were there for the paycheck. Revisionist history can make the grass seem greener, but most of us couldn't wait to see Ryan gone by the end of 2016. I know we are frustrated with being stuck in the mud as a playoff but not a Super Bowl team, but let's not forget where we were in the drought.
  9. I want to reserve judgement until I see what the cap looks like and what Buffalo adds at WR before the season. Buffalo was not getting past the divisional round with last years set up. If Allen has five to ten good years left, I would be willing to take a step back for one year if it meant true Super Bowl contention after.
  10. Dwayne Johnson (The Rock) partially owns the team and "the Brahma Bull" was one of his wrestling nicknames. Fun fact, the roster includes former Bill Marquez Stevenson. I remember many people thinking that he was going to be a hidden gem a couple of years ago.
  11. Not a bad signing for veteran eepth. With 11 picks, I'm sure that we are adding at least one defensive lineman. If our rookies aren't ready, we have a backup. If not. he either gets cut or stashed on the practice squad. No biggie, we aren't getting 90 pro bowlers, especially at vet minimum.
  12. Great, another rule that is up to the "interpretation" of refs. I can't wait for the first prime time Chiefs game where Kelce is stopped short on 4th and long with less than a minute to go only to have a flag come out 30 seconds after the play is over for "illegal hip tackle".
  13. Center, Safety and Defensive End are the three biggest question marks. We lost experience and leadership in those position and there is no guarantee that the replacements can fill that void. McDermott has a strategy of finding veteran at low prices in free agency after being silent on Day 1. Given the cap situation, I was pleasantly surprised with who we brought in. Now we see if they fit the system. Maybe our signings are the next Beasley, Hyde or Poyer. Maybe they end up replacement level or worse like Saffold, Addison or Sherfield. Whether or not we took a step back depends on what our signings bring to the table. The Free agent signings over the last 7 years are mixed in level of success, so are the drafts for that matter. We have no way of knowing how it pans out until the season.
  14. Edwards has a similar profile to Hyde and Poyer before they joined. Hopefully he continues the tradition. It will be tough to replace what was likely Buffalo's best all time safety duo overnight, but I like Edwards as an #2 or #3 option. With less than 60 on the roster and a draft coming, I am assuming that there will be at least one more option added. Hopefully Blackmon or a high draft pick.
  15. If Diggs tweeted about having a Pizza for dinner, the media would give a headline stating "Diggs wants to play for Jets!!!". Nothing to see here.
  16. Somewhere in New Orleans. Exec 1: Carr is too turnover prone and Winston has a history of interceptions. We need a different option. Exec 2: I know, how about Nathan Peterman Exec 1: Brilliant!
  17. Looks like the choice has been made. I would have preferred Floyd, but if AJE is the player that he was last year instead of the first three, it will be a steal.
  18. Yesterday hurt a bit, but those releases in 2000 signified the end of an era. As good as Poyer, White, and Morse are, no one would see them at the hall-of-fame level as Smith, Reed, and Thomas. Something like Allen, Diggs, and Milano might be a more apt comparison. Even then, It does not compare because this group has not accomplished anything near four straight Super Bowls. A second factor to add is what happened after. Those cuts don't sting as much if Buffalo makes the Super Bowls or even the playoffs shortly after. There were no playoffs until 2017, which adds to the significance of those moves. The recent releases were in decline and in positions that could easily be replaced. I will miss them, but I am confident we can replace them based on our depth and the number of draft picks that we have.
  19. I am concerned if the Bills lose, but if they "loose", what they do behind closed doors is none of my business.
  20. Shakir is a mid-round draft pick with a lot of promise. He is not a proven commodity. Sometimes, Wide Receivers look good as a third or fourth option but regress greatly when it is their time to be the #1 or #2 guy. Let's not forget how great Gabe Davis looked before 2023. Two years later, we are moving on from him because he was not consistent enough to be the #2. Shakir has earned a more significant role but should not be relied on to the point where we do not draft or sign one or two higher-profile players.
  21. An ideal backup to me would be Gardner Minshew. Minshew is not likely to get a starting gig anywhere, but has good experience including almost getting the Colts into the playoffs last year. He seems like would fit in well with the culture here and the team could still get by if Allen was to be out for an extended time.
  22. Could you imagine the amount of hospital emergency rooms everywhere being overrun from all of the alcohol poisoning cases by the end of the game if people played this?
  23. You replied directly to me twice. Don't gaslight. It was clear after you said "Is it really her fault that the NFL and the networks took full advantage of her newfound relationship? I guess if you believe in the conspiracies then you would say yes." one one post, and then tried to twist words and dance around it on the next post, that you were not worth speaking to anymore. Your last post confirmed my initial hunch. Again, enjoy your Super Bowl.
  24. Listen buddy if you want to gatekeep the thread and go after anyone who speaks against the blessed name of Taylor, go for it. I'm not up for an all day back and forth online debate. Enjoy your Super Bowl.
  25. and this is the problem. This is the toxic conformity (which I largely blame on the media) over the last four years that bothers me. You must think one way or else.... At least it used to only apply to more important topics. now it is even in pop culture. What if I told you that it was possible to both be annoyed with the overexposure of Taylor and not be a conspiracy theorist? Josh Allen has a celebrity girlfriend too, but I don't remember that being shoved in everyone's face. I was neutral to Taylor Swift until this year. Even at first, I would have agreed with your last sentence and defended her saying that it was the media's fault. However, her actions of calling NFL fans "dads brads and chads" and her action of threatening to sue a college student to tracking her private jet emissions has made her come off as the very type of tone deaf elitist that many in society are sick of. I just hope that it is a close game so that those who watch can enjoy some good quality football.
