  1. The thought of Foles as a Bill has grown on me. To have him for 4 years at that contract and draft and develop a guy seems like a great plan.
  2. I like O'Leary and would hate to see him thrive as a Patriot. Why trade him? It probably wouldn't cost much to keep him after this year if he continues improving.
  3. Isn't Lewis a free agent? Nick O Leary has paid his dues more than Hogan? We get Lewis and a draft pick for Nick? I am confused.
  4. The Bills are spending a lot of money at rb right now. Almost tops in the league. Giving 3 million for a potentially washed up backup Ivory is more than some of the leagues top backs still on rookie contracts make. I am not saying I would spend a top pick on a back , but getting good production from players on rookie deals at any position is huge for managing cap. Some positions seem to take longer adjusting to the pros. I have not ever advocated the Bills taking a rb high in the draft, too many other needs at pos. with less depth of talent.
  5. I agree it would have to be a rare talent and to a team that has a qb and other parts to warrant a top pick.
  6. 1st rd contracts come with 5th year options I think which would make most of them 27 , some rbs go on to produce well after 5 yrs many others are banged up by then. The point is you could still keep them for a 2nd contract, but to get the bulk of their productive years on a rookie contract is a huge bonus when managing cap.
  7. I think Gronk becomes a clown in the WWE before that happens.
  8. Because rbs have a shorter shelf life I think if they are good enough to warrant a 1st round pick they are one of the safest positions. Think about it, their able to contribute immediately and you get their best years many times on a rookie contract pay scale. I think the riskiest are those whose talent may not translate or whose position takes longer to peak. You end up developing players and then losing them to fa just when they are coming into their prime.
  9. After one of the best 3 game playoff runs in history culminating in a shootout victory vs. Brady's Pats in the SB, I would say it is a bit more than hype. Hype is thinking a guy from Wy. who didn't even play well in college is gonna be the one. Or thinking guys who have never played a down in the NFL are sure things. Don't forget before his collarbone injury Foles had one of the best qb seasons in recent memory. 27 tds 2 int 2700 yds. 119 rating in 10 games.
  10. The coaching and scheme completely changed the look of that offense. The influx of wrs and throwing to Gurley more was a big difference as well.
  11. Foles doesn't have a long history of stellar play. He only started and finished 2 regular season games last year. He was not too good in one and really good in the other. His playoff run was epic. Hard to tell if that is who you will get. His cap hit this year is only 7 mil. Does his contract void after this season if he is traded? If not he is under contract for 3 more years at only 6 mil per year? If that is the case I would definitely think it is worth a first rnd pick plus a 4rth. The guy is 6'6" 243 lbs and has flashed brilliance at times. Before he went to LA he threw for 27 tds and 2 int for the Eagles his 2nd season. A collarbone injury set him back and led to the Rams trade. He outdueled Tom Brady in the SB! 29 yrs old and coming into form this could be really good timing.
  12. I had the same reaction, thought they were getting Mack, instead it was the prima donna.
  13. Blount scored 18 tds and won a SB with NE two years ago, went unsigned for months before signing with the Eagles for only 1.3 million and then winning another SB. Wonder how much he will get paid this year? Less than Ivory? I don't love or hate this signing, think they overpaid a little. I hope the change of scheme gives Ivory new life.
  14. $0.00 He would never be a Bill again if it was up to me, not a team player.
  15. that is their total cap, not cap space. 177 million plus whatever rolls over from this year. Never knew you could roll that much over. the title is misleading. Cap space should change to total cap.
  16. that was pretty weird. He was acting crazy, thought maybe he was on drugs.
  17. I never expected them to tag him, that would have been dumb. I don't think he will get anything close to what a tag would have cost.
  18. Ivory was not very impressive last year. Still an upgrade compared to Tolbert but not feeling too excited about it. Definitely overpaid for him imo, I think better options will sign for less. Blount signed for 1.3 last year after scoring 18tds. This is kind of a headscratcher.
  19. Highly doubt he is a 1st rounder. Not very athletic for 3 tech, not big enough for nose.
  20. Just to put Baker Mayfield college career into perspective. This is where he stands on the all time NCAA ranks in various statistics (from 1956 till now). Passer rating #2. Yds/att #3. Pass Yds #7. Pass tds. #4 Total tds. Rush and pass #2. The last 2 seasons his stats have been otherworldly. https://www.sports-reference.com/cfb/players/baker-mayfield-1.html. It would be amazing if the Bills could get him. fwiw I read where a gm said that Mayfield football knowledge was 'off the charts' . He also said Rosen Darnold and Rudolph were good but Jackson and Allen were a long ways off as far as next level football knowledge.
  21. I was thinking the same thing while reading this thread. Just stupid enough to fall far enough.
  22. The arm is still the tool, the will and skill are the talent. The point is it takes more than a strong arm to dial it in. Allen had a very below average career in a very average conference. Do you guys really believe he is one of the better football players in this class?????
  23. What is arm talent? Is it the ability to just zip it in there through a knothole without touching the sides when it's all on the line ? No, that is wizardry, jedi I can do anything at any moment, especially if everything is on the line talent. The arm is one of the tools, not the talent.
  24. "Rudolph makes safe decisions and throws the ball out of bounds where Jackson finds a play"...... but somehow Rudolph completes 65% of his passes for 10 yds/att while Jackson completes 59% for 8.5/att. Rudolph throws 2 more air yds/att as well and is far more efficient. They account for the same amount of tds as Jackson evens it out with his legs but how long can he do that in the pros? He is so multidimensional and uniquely talented it is hard to predict, but with his frame and style I think he will have to run a lot less.
