Most of the guys above him are punting well in the short term, likely due to factors outside their control. if you look year over year, it changes a lot. Stonehouse and Fox were lower than martin last year. Martin is consistently good every year.

You know that percentage matters, right? He can't punt inside the 20 when the team doesn't punt. He is 19th this year and was 17th last year and hitting htta percentage on a yearly basis is an elite level of performance when you measure over a career.

He's all time elite at that skill and puts him up there with the all time greats at placement kicking. He's also top 17 all time in net average for punters with more than 500 punts and even higher when you consider most of the top guys were in the 50s and 60s. Stop acting like he's a bad punter. He's elite having a less than career year.

He's only had one season(2020) so far where he was legitimately in the discussion, and unfortunately Rodgers was there with him and just edged him out. he was a distant 2nd/3rd in 2021/2022 and If he wins out with good performances he may be able to claim another 2nd place this year. His only shot at winning IMO is an AFC meltdown where the Bills get the 1st seed. Otherwise it goes to Purdy, McCaffery or Dak I think with Stroud being a dark horse if they win the division. It's hard to argue that any player is more valuable to their team than Stroud has been this year, but that's not the way the voting works.
